THE POSITION

The City of San Mateo is seeking a Per Diem Human Resources Technician providing a wide variety of technical human resource work in a variety of program areas including benefit administration; recruitment and selection; compensation; human resources information systems database analysis and report writing, and to do related work as required. This position receives general supervision from the HR Director or Senior HR Analysts.

EXAMPLE DUTIES

• Prepare and maintain personnel records.
• Write, edit and prepare digital and print communications materials.
• Assist in the recruitment process by preparing and distributing job announcements, composing, and placing ads, composing and recording announcements for the job hotline, updating and monitoring recruitment information on the City’s web site, screening applications, and answering inquiries from applicants.
• Work with departments in coordinating examination schedules and locations; prepare necessary correspondence for the examinations; notify candidates; enlist the services of examination board members; assemble and mail packets to oral board members.
• Process, update, and maintain invoices and accounts payable.
• Gather and assemble data and prepare routine reports; maintain a variety of records and files.
• Screen calls and visitors, referring inquiries as appropriate, and respond to requests for information regarding general personnel matters.

DESCRIPTION 

The City of Thousand Oaks Community Development Department currently has two vacancies for an Assistant and Associate Planner. Under general supervision, these positions perform varied and responsible professional planning work; administer and perform work on relatively complex current and advance planning projects; and perform related duties as assigned.   

These vacancies will be filled as an Assistant Planner ($81,085 - $121,628 annually) and Associate Planner ($96,549 - $144,825 annually). 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

Assistant Planner:  

• Manage and process applications for development projects, including residential, mixed-use, commercial, industrial, and institutional proposals  

• Facilitate in-person and virtual permit submittals 

• Respond to phone and email inquiries  

• Consult and advise property owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and the public regarding applications, City policies, codes, and other plans.

Associate Planner:

• Plans, organizes and conducts research studies and prepares recommendations regarding land use, zoning, urban design, population trends, transportation, housing and environmental needs, updates and analyzes demographic and other data required for the planning function, participates in the review, development or revision of the various of the General Plan, environmental impact reports, plans, ordinance and other policies and procedures.

• Implement sound recommendations based on study results 

We have exciting internship opportunities available at the City of Millbrae’s Public Works Department Environmental Programs Division.  This is an open-ended internship without a specific term, and is a fully on-site position with a minimum of 16 hours per week commitment (not to exceed 1,000 per fiscal year).

The current vacancy is based at our Downtown Library, performing a wide variety of technical library work, providing services for children, adults and families, and administering the day-to-day activities of the library.  The candidate may also be assigned to work at other Redwood City Public Library locations.  This position requires work during the day, evenings and a weekend rotation (both Saturday and Sunday).  We may use the eligibility list created from this recruitment process to fill any positions that occur in any Redwood City Public Library location, during the life of the eligibility list.
