WORK SCHEDULE:

The District observes a 4/10 work schedule, Monday–Thursday, 10-hour days. The regular work schedule for this position is 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.

POSITION DESCRIPTION, DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS, AND QUALIFICATIONS:

Under immediate supervision, the Customer Service Technician performs a variety of customer service and billing support duties, including processing payments, maintaining customer accounts, responding to billing inquiries, and coordinating service orders. The position also provides administrative support to an assigned supervisor and performs related work as required.

This is the entry-level class in the Customer Service series. Employees in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience but demonstrate the ability to perform the full scope of duties and meet performance standards. Incumbents work under close supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes are learned.

• Two (2) years of responsible experience similar to Customer Service Technician is desirable

• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade supplemented by coursework in business or accounting is desirable

• Valid California Class C Driver’s License may be required. A satisfactory driving record is required.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City Parks, Recreation & Community Services Department invites you to apply for the casual position of Building Attendant. This position requires weekday and weekend shifts and may include both daytime and evening hours. A person in this classification will work flexibly, up to 20 hours per week. Hours and locations will vary across multiple community centers, and Building Attendants will be required to open and/or close the facility as needed.

Typical duties include, but are not limited to: provide excellent customer service to youth, teens, adults, and seniors; oversee the use of the facility insuring that patrons conform to established City and building rental policies and procedures; perform classroom and multi- purpose room set-up and breakdowns for classes, meetings, and building rentals; perform front desk customer service functions; perform minor clean-up as needed including, cleaning bathrooms, floors, windows, counter tops, and emptying garbage; lock and unlock doors; secure building; set up supplies and equipment as dictated by program needs; and perform related duties as assigned.

This position will report directly to the After School Sports Coordinator.

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to the following: Provide gym/field oversite and coordination at various gyms and school sites within Redwood City; act in the capacity of lead scorekeeper or field supervisor; train new scorekeepers and/or field attendants as needed; possess a firm understanding of league rules and policies; ensure that games and practices operated in a safe, inclusive environment; report any issues immediately to After School Sports Coordinator; address all parent or league issues in a timely and professional manner; maintain and care for all sports and mobile rec equipment; follow departmental and city-wide rules and regulations as they relate to the supervision of sports program and general work procedures; assist with other programs within the Parks & Recreation Department, including but not limited to, facilities, special events, and other youth programs.
