About this role
We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

What You’ll Do

• Greet, acknowledge, and interactive with patrons and sports officials in a friendly and professional manner
• Ensures all game related information are uploaded to website in a timely manner for each game
• Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts
• Ensures use of sport program supplies follows the amount prearranged by the department budget
• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

San Mateo County Health's Behavioral Health and Recovery Services Division (BHRS) is seeking a well-qualified individual for the position of Occupational Therapist II - Therapeutic Day Schools.

The mental health Occupational Therapy within the Therapeutic Day Schools (TDS) program assists youth in acquiring skills needed to function in their life roles of student and worker. As the students in the TDS program progress toward graduation they are then linked with the Department of Rehabilitation for assessment and counseling for future placement. The Occupational Therapist also provides treatment through the use of arts and crafts activities. The focus of this "activity" based treatment is the development of pre-vocational skills: pro-social and task skills.

Occupation Therapy services in the TDS unit are provided in two general areas: direct and indirect services. These services function to prepare the young person for the roles of a student, performance of age-appropriate daily living behaviors and ultimately the transition to worker, college student, or vocational training.

The Occupational Therapy program addresses: independent living skills, pre-vocational skills, socialization skills, recreation and leisure activities, and transition activities as outlined in the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

The Therapeutic Day School unit is comprised of two separate school programs serving high school aged special education students in the Jefferson High School District, and South San Francisco Unified School District. Each TDS program is a collaboration between that designated high school district. TDS students are certified special education students who have been evaluated and determined in need of intensive mental health services in order to benefit from their education. The core staff is comprised of a multi-disciplinary team including both mental health and educational staff. The TDS program works in close collaboration with outside service providers such as probation, social services, education, Wrap- Around service providers and other mental health contract agencies.

The Therapeutic Day School BHRS Staff include a Clinical Services Manager (1), Supervising Mental Health Clinician (1), Psychiatric Social Workers / Marriage and Family Therapists (2), Creative Arts Therapist (1), Occupational Therapist (1), Psychiatrist (1) and Medical Office Assistant (1). District special education staff include the Special Education Director (1), Program Specialist (1), Special Education Teacher (1 or 2), and Teaching Associates (1 or 2).

The ideal candidates will have:

• Experience working with adolescents in a mental health setting
• Experience working on a multidisciplinary team
• Experience working with special education students and participating in the IEP process
• Familiarity with normal adolescent development
• Familiarity with psychiatric disorders as defined in the DSM V manual
• Ability to provide treatment to youth who have co-occurring substance use issues
• Ability to structure and effectively run activity-based groups with teenagers

Responsibilities will include:

• Assessment and development of a treatment plan that links to the BHRS client treatment plan.
• Coordinating and implementing the TDS program's Occupational Therapy program, including group treatment, individual treatment, linkage to various agencies, and consultation to staff and families.
• Continual evaluation of youth capacities and deficits, and the students' response to treatment including the measurement of change and development.
• Conduct assessments, share findings and make appropriate recommendations.
• Collaborate and coordinate with the multi-disciplinary team which includes special education staff and mental health staff in order to provide comprehensive treatment to youth in the TDS program.
• Participate in milieu therapy and enforce the behavior management system.
• Provide consultation and support to families and staff as needed.
• Provide education and training to staff as needed.
• Liaison with community agencies to assess, implement or coordinate services.
• Work closely with district vocational support staff to assist students in transitioning to the role of worker.
• Participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings by completing and monitoring progress of the Individualized Transition Plan (ITP).

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to qualify is:

• Occupational Therapist II: One year of supervised experience in occupational therapy.

 Licensure/Certification: 

• Eligibility for or registration as an Occupational Therapist by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Failure to obtain this licensure within twelve months of employment may result in termination.
• Possession of a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association; or must be obtained within six months of appointment.

The City of Hayward is seeking a Senior Utilities Engineer with a water and/or wastewater background to supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate the activities of the Utilities Division. The Senior Utilities Engineer is a mid-management level position that performs, oversees, and directs engineering activities including planning, conceptual design, final design, cost estimating, project bidding, services during construction and construction management for a variety of projects in wastewater treatment, water storage and distribution, sewer collection, and storm water management. This position will serve as a key member of the team that will manage and deliver a $100 million treatment system upgrade for the City’s Water Pollution Control Facility (WPCF) to incorporate nutrient removal into the treatment process.  
 
DEFINITION
Under general direction, supervise, direct, plan, and coordinate the assigned functions and activities of the Engineering Section of the Utilities Division.
 
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a mid-management level position that performs, oversees, and directs all assigned activities of the Utilities engineering section, including planning, conceptual design, final design, cost estimating, project bidding process, services during construction and construction management for variety of projects in water distribution, sewer collection, storm water management, and wastewater treatment.  This position is distinguished from that of subordinate Associate Civil Engineer position by its responsibility for the supervision of assigned engineering and technical staff, in addition to engineering and technical responsibilities for project development, design, and construction management for more complex projects.  This position is distinguished from Deputy Director of Public Works for Utilities by the latter position's overall responsibility for all aspects of the Utilities Division functions.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a journey technical level position in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of duties assigned. The Communications Center in the Support Services Division of the Hayward Police Department is responsible for dispatching both Police and Fire Services throughout the City of Hayward. The Communications Center is frequently the first point of contact that a member of the public will have when requesting assistance from the City of Hayward. The information gathered by the communications operator during this contact is critical to a positive outcome. This is seasonal work which will include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the department.

THE POSITION:  This is a trainee level classification which provides transition into the position of Police Officer.  A Police Officer Trainee is hired into this civilian position for the period prior to and during the time they are assigned to a Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified police academy.  The police academy has an expected duration of approximately 6 months.  Upon successful completion of training at an academy and upon the availability of a Police Officer position, Police Officer Trainees are sworn in and appointed to the classification of Police Officer.  The Police Officer Trainee is represented by SEIU Local 1021 and benefits are limited to those of a civilian employee.

Essential Duties

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
Attends a basic POST certified police academy designed to provide an overview of the criminal justice system including knowledge of laws, police procedures, law enforcement techniques, first aid and physical fitness.
Receives training to develop an awareness of Police Department functions, as well as the responsibilities of Police Officers and how those responsibilities relate to field operations.
Receives academy and field training to become a Police Officer.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. As a Senior Customer Service Representative, your role is pivotal in delivering exceptional service to our members and guests. As the primary point of contact, supervises part-time staff, enforces Silliman Center policies, assists in training staff, and serves as the primary contact for customers. This position requires you to work at our indoor water park and recreation center.

You must be able to work 15-25 hours a week between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm

• Receives emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, private companies and other jurisdictions.

THE POSITION:

 

The City of Hayward is excited to announce its recruitment for the position of Lateral Communications Operator. 

DEFINITION

Under general supervision from the Communications Supervisor, the Communications Operator operates a computer aided dispatch system receiving calls and dispatching police, fire or other City services.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is a journey technical level position in which incumbents are expected to independently perform the full range of duties assigned. This class is distinguished from the Communications Supervisor in that the latter provides technical and functional supervision over assigned communication personnel.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Communications Center in the Support Services Division of the Hayward Police Department is responsible for dispatching both Police and Fire Services throughout the City of Hayward. The Hayward Police Department is one of 18 CALEA (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement) accredited police departments in California and is committed to maintaining CALEA's high standards and broadly recognized excellence.
The Communications Center is frequently the first point of contact that a member of the public will have when requesting assistance from the City of Hayward. The information gathered by the communications operator during this contact is critical to a positive outcome. The Communications Center consists of six (6) stations with each communications operator assigned to a specific job.

• Type accurately at a speed of 35 words per minute.
• Work various shifts, including day, swing and graveyard as well as weekends and holidays.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Minimum Qualifications

LATERAL REQUIREMENTS:

Experience: Two (2) years of experience as a public safety dispatcher for a Public Safety Answering Point, including heavy public contact while performing multiple tasks and using a computer-aided dispatch system.

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.

Licenses and Certificates: Completion of the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Public Safety Dispatcher course is highly desirable.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

Typing Certificate: A typing certificate with 35 net words per minute 

1. Certificates will be accepted from a public school, business school or temporary agency; certificates from Internet testing services and/or home computer CD testing will NOT be accepted.
2. Typing certificate (or signed statement on official letterhead from the testing agency) must be dated no earlier than six (6) months prior to the date of the application filing.
3. Typing certificate (or signed letter) must state all of the following information:

· Five (5)-minute timed typing test.
· Gross typing speed in words per minute.
· Gross number of errors.
· Net words per minute
