The Police Officer's duties are to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work. Full-time permanent positions of Police Officers serve an eighteen (18) month probationary period.

This position performs engineering work, project management, construction management, design work, and other engineering and technical services for the District; reviews development projects to ensure conformance with District standards; makes calculations, administers contracts, maintains records, provides engineering support to District departments, conducts studies regarding capital projects, assists in the budgeting process for project expenditures, and performs related work as required.

• Participate in developing and administering policies and procedures related to engineering.
• Provide support for staff performing service calls.
• Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) and geographic information system (GIS) to generate and analyze data and prepare reports.

DEFINITION: 

Under supervision of the Teen Coordinator and Teen Director, provide supervision of teens as
well as be a positive role model and assist with activity planning and implementation. Program hours are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday from 3-6pm, Wednesdays from 2-6pm and Fridays from 3-5pm. Teen Aide is required to work occasional evenings and weekends for special events. Approximately 15 hours per week with the potential for more hours.

• Ability to motivate & interact with teens ages 10-14.
• Possess strong leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: art, crafts, sports,

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:

Teen Aide will assist in leading Teen Zone, a daily drop-in program for local middle school students. While on duty, Teen Aide may be responsible for check-in and check-out of participants, oversee an in-house snack bar, and facilitate set-up of the Teen Zone game room (including setting up video games, ping pong table, quiet homework spaces, and more). Light cleaning duties will be expected.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

The Officers are generalists who typically handle cases from the first response, through investigation, and onto final disposition. In addition, Officers frequently assist the Chief of Police with administrative duties and consult closely with him in the formulation of Departmental policies, procedures, and tactics. The Department is well-equipped and well-trained. The Reserve Officer is assigned to one of four patrol shifts or other duties as assigned. Officers frequently work alone and may be required to make decisions regarding appropriate courses of action without direct supervision. THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael is recruiting for the position of Police Cadet (3 positions available).  This is an excellent job opportunity for students interested in law enforcement.  Under direct supervision, this fixed-term/limited term, civilian position provides general and specific information and assistance to the public.  The position also provides logistical assistance to all police department functions.  The primary assignments for the Cadet position are crime prevention, patrol support, and records/front office support. 

This position performs the following essential job duties:

• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment
• Photocopies documents, files reports and manages additional work requests
• Uses personal computers and software applications for data entry and records maintenance
• Ensures proper calibration and maintenance of technical equipment and instruments
