After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.

The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

On April 29, 2025, Suisun City Council approved a new contract between the Suisun City RPM Department and the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District (FSUSD). This agreement expands after school programming to include to grades TK-5 at Dan O. Root Elementary and Crescent Elementary Schools, making the Suisun City RPM Department the sole provider of after school services at both locations. The Department

The Suisun City Fire Department was established in 1861. The men and women of SCFD take great pride in the customer service that they provide to all who live, work and travel through Suisun City. SCFD is a mission-driven fire agency that remains focused on customers and safety. It is our goal that all members strive to attain a synergistic balance of education, training, and experience to provide excellent emergency management on every call. SCFD is a combination agency staffed with both full-time and volunteer fire personnel. We currently operate two Type 1 Fire Engines, one Type 3 Fire Engine, Ladder Truck, three Command Vehicles, one Type 5 Fire Engine, Zodiac Rescue Boats, and one USAR Trailer. The Suisun City Fire Department is an ALS (Paramedic) level department, supported by Medic Ambulance for transport services. Station 47 is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Position

The ideal candidate would know and be responsible for performance of the full scope of assigned fire suppression, fire prevention, emergency medical care responsibilities, and for the protection of life and property. New incumbents may have limited related experience but are expected to learn the full range of duties and responsibilities, perform duties with minimal direct supervision, and exercise sound judgment and discretion in making decisions. Firefighters work a 48/96 work schedule, comprised of two 24-hour shifts followed by four 24-hour days off, averaging 56 hours per week.

SPECIAL PAY INCENTIVES:

• POST CERTIFICATE PAY – Additional 2% pay for Basic POST, 5% for Intermediate POST, and 5% for Advanced POST certificates
• SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT PAY – 5% additional pay for special assignments
• LONGEVITY PAY – 3% at 5 years and 6% at 10 years of service
• Up to $10,000 in student loan forgiveness

THE POSITION: Under general supervision of a Police Sergeant or other supervisory/management staff, performs a variety of duties related to the protection of public health, safety, and welfare and the enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws; provides traffic enforcement and control; and carries out special assignments in a particular phase of police work. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Patrols assigned areas of the City to preserve law and order, discover and prevent commission of crimes, and enforce traffic and other laws and ordinances; maintains awareness of and remains alert for wanted suspects, known criminals, stolen vehicles, missing persons, traffic violators, and crimes in progress; makes arrests; issues warnings and citations.
• Responds to calls for the protection of life and property, the enforcement of laws and ordinances, general public service calls, and complaints including those involving automobile accidents, traffic hazards, misdemeanor and felony incidents, domestic disturbances, health code and local ordinance violations, property control, civil complaints, and related incidents; responds to and provides assistance at a variety of public service type calls that are non-criminal in nature.
• Conducts initial and follow-up investigations at scenes of incidents to which summoned or observed; determines what, if any, crime has been committed; collects, preserves, processes, photographs, and books evidence; locates and interviews victims and witnesses; identifies and interrogates suspects. • Prepares and serves search and arrest warrants; apprehends and arrests offenders for crimes committed under federal, state, and local laws and codes; controls and mitigates people under the influence of drugs or alcohol or other potentially hostile situations.
• Directs traffic at special events or emergency situations; provides traffic and crowd control at community and emergency events.

The Department

The City’s Volunteer Fire Department is older than the City itself, founded as a volunteer corps in 1861 to replace a U.S. Army fire brigade. The largest volunteer urban Fire Department in California has undergone change to become a combination department, composed of both paid and volunteer staff. In addition, the department provides Advance Life Support (ALS) services and responds to over 3,000 calls for service annually. Staffing includes a Fire Chief, one Deputy Chief, one Fire Marshal, six Fire Captains, six Fire Engineers, an Administrative Assistant and 10 Reserve Volunteer Firefighters. Dispatch is staffed through the Public Safety Dispatch Center housed at the Police Department. Ambulance services are handled through a countywide contract. The Position

The ideal candidate will be a team-oriented problem-solver with a focus on public service. Recruits enter a training program to develop skills necessary to demonstrate abilities to respond to emergency fire and medical alarms, to protect life and property, to participate in fire suppression training and emergency medical training, to assist with station, apparatus and equipment maintenance, and to do related work as required. Volunteers are required to participate in a minimum of two 24 hour shifts or four 12 hour day shifts each month and complete assigned training.

Position Duties

Salary range for the classification of Chief of Surveys is:

$133,682.64 - $162,860.88 Annually. This range includes an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable pay. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.

The Department of Public Works is recruiting for (1) Full-Time Chief of Surveys position to provide the following typical duties and responsibilities which may include but are not limited to:

• Supervises an office technical staff in the preparation of drawings, corner records, record of surveys, reviewing improvement plans and specifications, parcel maps and tract maps.

• Provides direction and supervises several field survey crews to locate property lines, gather data for topographic surveys and stake construction projects.

• Reviews, schedules, and assigns crews to survey projects; recommends methods and procedures to efficiently complete assigned projects.

• prepares time and cost estimates for requested survey work. 

• Reviews preliminary construction drawings to determine nature and extent of required survey work; participates in pre-construction, project scheduling, and other meetings concerning survey matters.

• Reviews, approves, or examines land surveying documents (maps, plats, reports, descriptions, etc.) under supervision of the Land Surveyor.

• Manages surveying staff including supervision, hiring, training and performance evaluations.

• Plans, coordinates, and schedules all office surveying activities.

• Sets and maintains standard practices for office surveying activities and quality control.

• Consults with public and private engineers, inspectors, and contractors relative to requested work and coordinates any necessary activities.

• Communicates with clients and the public and resolves issues that arise during field surveys.

• Performs map and document research for field and office survey projects.

• Interprets construction documents for construction surveys.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent (General Educational Development [GED] Test or California Proficiency Certificate)

Experience: Eight (8) years of increasingly responsible sub-professional engineering/surveying work, including three (3) years at a level of a Survey Party Chief, Senior Engineering Technician, Senior Construction Inspector, or equivalent.

Acceptable Substitutions

Up to four (4) years (equivalent to 120 semester units or 180 quarter units) of undergraduate course work in college engineering, surveying, geography, and/or mathematics, or related fields, from an accredited college or university, may be substituted for subprofessional engineering/surveying experience on a year-for-year basis.

Certifications

Possession of a Land Surveyor-in-Training certificate and possession of a valid driver's license authorizing the operation of a motor vehicle in the State of California. - Land Surveyor's license is highly desirable.

Under general supervision, this Facility Repair Worker will perform a wide variety of semi-skilled work in the repair of buildings and equipment at San José City Hall. 

Salary range for this classification is $77,355.20 - $94,036.80 annually. Actual salary shall be determined by the final candidates’ qualifications and experience.  

This Facility Repair Worker position will be stationed at San José City Hall. City Hall is an 18-story high-rise structure which adds maintenance and operational challenges. In addition to the typical duties of a Facility Repair Worker, the successful candidate will maintain the potable/reclaimed water systems, learn how to maintain pressure variances in the systems, operate and maintain a large water feature/fountain on site, and work in high locations utilizing a scissor-lift and ReachMaster® 138 ft. boom lift. City Hall houses the upper management of most of the city departments, as well as the Mayor and City Council Offices. The ability to work in a politically sensitive environment is essential. 

Other duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

• Proactive maintenance of roofs and roof water drainage systems; 

• Ability to install and modify office space cubicles, including ergonomic adjustments; 

• Skilled at painting techniques and proper cleanup for small and larger surfaces, including graffiti removal; 

• Perform drywall repair; 

• Experienced in maintaining and repairing various plumbing fixtures and resolving plumbing issues (clogs, drainage, flushometer repair, piping work, mixing valve repairs, sink and faucet repairs); 

• Monthly inspections of fire sprinkler systems and pumps; 

• Flooring repair, including carpet and tile work; 

• Familiarity with fire control panels; 

• Experience in motors, pumps, and other architectural water feature infrastructure; 

• Knowledge of fundamental provisions of various codes related to the maintenance and repair of facilities; 

• Knowledge and experience related to door and lock repair and replacement work, which include electronic access control door hardware and door operators;   

• Ability to draw sketches and plans for assigned projects, estimate the materials needed, and record keeping; 

• Maintain all work order details, status updates, labor applied, and contractor costs in City’s work order database.

You'll have the opportunity to lead initiatives that impact the community directly, such as energy efficiency upgrades, safety improvements, and facility renovations. These tasks include a range of semi-skilled construction and repair work involving the use of basic tools and trade-related equipment. Duties may involve repairing electrical equipment and wiring systems; fixing windows, doors, cabinets, and other building components; maintaining interior and exterior furniture such as tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases; performing general plumbing repairs and installations; and carrying out basic concrete and masonry work. 

Additionally, you must be able to diagnose mechanical problems and methodically troubleshoot any issues occurring with building systems, machines, and equipment. This role also serves as a trainer and provides leadership to the team on specific tasks and projects.

FIRST YEAR PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS:

• Assist in procurement efforts by obtaining vendor quotes for the installation of an HVAC system in the Annex server room.
• Assist with gathering and analyzing solar generation data to quantify the saving generated from the installation of solar panels at four city locations.
• Evaluate current Facilities Preventative Maintenance Program/Schedule and make recommendations for improvements and to include efficient work distribution to the Facilities team.
