The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. The Position: PAL Program Attendants work with Suisun City’s PAL Program and with area teenagers ages 13-19 to implement educational and recreational activities: tutoring, sports, games, mini-excursions, competitions, contests, seminars, and special events, and provide general support to the program’s Recreation Supervisor. After School Program Technician I's work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist II. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19-29 hours per week.

The Position: Under general supervision, this position involves organizing, leading, and coordinating a variety of indoor and outdoor recreational and educational activities for an Afterschool Program. This role is classified as Temporary Part-Time to support both seasonal and year-round recreational programs.

Representative Duties:
• Assisting with planning, delivering, and leading program activities as needed.
• Interacting and leading participants in arts, crafts, games, and sports.
• Supporting the planning and implementation of specialized activities, instructor plans, programs, and events.
• Assisting with curriculum development and planning weekly schedules.
• Checking in participants.
• Scheduling, coordinating, and chaperoning field trips.
• Organizing, teaching, guiding, and directing activities for youth.

Position Duties

The Department of Transportation is currently seeking to fill 1 vacancy for the Parking Manager I/II position. Parking and Downtown Operations Parking Manager

The Parking Manager reports to the Parking and Downtown Operations Division Manager and will focus on managing the day-to-day operations of eight (8) parking garages and six (6) surface lots with a total of approximately 7,300 parking spaces primarily in Downtown San José.  They will also manage roughly 2,500 on-street parking meters throughout the City.

 

The Parking Manager oversees a team of eleven (11) which include two (2) direct reports, one Parking and Ground Transportation Administrator and one Sr. Analyst. 

 

The primary focus of this position is to manage and lead a team that works directly with Downtown businesses and residences, community groups and associations, Council Offices, the Downtown Parking Board, the Convention Center and Cultural Facilities operator and City departments to deliver off-street and on-street parking services. 

 

Under direction, the position performs professional, analytical and administrative work of considerable difficulty in developing, implementing and managing agreements and contracts that involve off-street and on-street parking operations. Projects currently underway include major facade and elevator modernization improvements, analysis of the off street parking security program, developing capacity and usage trends for each parking Facility and on-street meter zones, administration and development of parking agreements to spur downtown development or office leasing activity.   

 

The successful candidate for this position will be expected to achieve results, lead continuous improvement efforts and ensure that the operations of the off-street and on-street parking program are consistently managed and maintained to provide the highest level of customer service, minimize program costs, and maximize cash flow to the City. 

 

This position is responsible for leading and managing the Off-Street Parking and On-Street Parking meters Section in the Department of Transportation. Principal areas of responsibility include the following: 

• Leading and managing off-street and on-street parking staff through the establishment of goals, creation of an innovative work environment, maximizing development opportunities and providing appropriate recognition. 

• Quantitative planning and analysis of Downtown San Jose parking supply and demand based on local market conditions and future developments. 

• Oversight and maintenance of parking facilities, parking guidance system, and on-street parking meters. 

• Providing staff support and working effectively with advisory committees, boards, task forces, community groups, associations and staff in other departments and/or agencies. 

• Coordinating/assisting in preparation of new parking ordinances/resolutions, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), agreements, and City Council memorandums for Off-Street  and On-Street Parking Services. 

• Managing marketing agreements and implementing strategies to attract customers and participation in various current or future parking programs  

• Performing and analyzing results from semi-annual customer service survey for all parking facilities and tracking City Council approved Performance Measures and preparing Off-street and On-Street parking operating budgets. 

• Representing Division Manager at meetings with internal and external stakeholders and other duties as assigned.

This assignment provides exposure to specialized tools, equipment, and processes used in wastewater treatment operations.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Under close supervision, the Seasonal Operations Aide provides entry-level support to an assigned department or division. This temporary role (up to 180 days) offers hands-on experience in operations, assisting staff with tasks such as maintenance, repair, cleaning, construction, and light equipment use. Duties may vary by program area and can include manual labor and tool handling.

Examples of Essential Job Functions (may include but are not limited to):

Two (2) years of experience in public contact work involving zoning administrative investigation, building inspection or investigation, industrial/commercial pretreatment inspections, or stormwater pollution control, one year of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

One (1) year of additional related experience may be substituted for each year, up to two years of the required education.

 

License/Certifications:

For the Public Works Department:

Desirable Qualifications:

ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Gilroy is recruiting for a graduate degree level Economic Development College Summer Intern for the summer of 2026. If you’re a mission-driven graduate student or recent Masters graduate and are ready to apply advanced economic analysis to real-world community impact, then this opportunity is for you. This internship offers a rigorous, project-based experience designed specifically for Master’s-level candidates who want to contribute meaningfully to local and regional economic growth. This is not a passive observational role — you will be embedded in active initiatives, supporting strategic projects that influence business development, community vitality, and long-term economic resilience.

Over the course of the summer internship, you will support high impact economic development projects that require analytical depth, strategic thinking, and strong communication skills. This opportunity is ideal for graduate students or recent graduates in Economics, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Public Administration, Business or related fields of study who are eager to translate academic training into measurable community outcomes. By the end of this internship, you will walk away with practical, resume-enhancing experience that bridges graduate-level academics and professional economic development practice positioning you competitively for careers in economic development, public policy, municipal government, consulting, or community development! 

 

ABOUT THE TEAM 
The Economic Development team is a small, but might group that consists of a Director and Manager dedicated to strengthening and diversifying the local economy in Gilroy. The team focuses on business attraction, retention, expansion, and strategic partnerships that enhance the city’s economic vitality. Working closely with internal departments, community stakeholders, and regional partners, the team plays a central role in shaping initiatives that support sustainable growth. As an intern, you will work directly alongside leadership, gaining insight into how economic development strategy is crafted and executed at the municipal level.

 

WORK SCHEDULE 
Internships can start as early as May 26, 2026, and end as late as September 30, 2026. This paid internship is offered at 15 - 25 hours per week with flexible scheduling. The office start and end date of the internship will be determined at the time of hire. Work hours are generally Monday – Friday between 8:00am – 5:00pm. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

• Conduct economic, demographic, and market data analysis 
• Research industry trends, business climate conditions, and development opportunities 
• Support business program development and evaluation 
• Lease tracking and economic data management
• Support community engagement and outreach initiatives
• Project coordination and administrative support
• Assist with special strategic initiatives as assigned 

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN & GAIN: 

• Direct experience interpreting and applying economic and demographic data to inform business attraction and retention strategies
