DEFINITION

The City of Live Oak Internship Program is designed to attract, develop and mentor innovative individuals interested in pursuing a career in the public sector. The program seeks dedicated students who, through their academic achievement and/or employment history, have demonstrated high potential for a career in local government. Interns are encouraged to apply for full-time positions with the City after their internship is completed.

CLASS CHARACTERISTICS

Interns generally work under close supervision and perform simple or routine tasks while learning to perform the more difficult and responsible ones. Interns are hired as limited term employees and employment service is dependent on the length of the project or the particular City service needs.

Intern positions are by their nature temporary employment and Interns are not eligible for City benefit programs unless specifically approved in writing by the City Manager.

The work schedule is typically part-time 15-20 hours per week with flexibility to work 30 to 40 hours per week depending on the needs of the Intern and the City program assigned. Interns with significant experience in their assigned area may be eligible to move along the assigned Salary Band with the specific approval of the City Manager.

Intern positions are not permanently funded and may be terminated at any time.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• May review and route routine planning documents, petitions, permits, packets and records; analyze environmental checklists and environmental information forms and make specific recommendations following department procedures;
• May assist professional and technical staff with special projects including surveying, data gathering and reporting, analyses and computerized report presentations;
• May respond to basic inquiries from the general public and resolve issues related to the City's planning and zoning procedures and specific permits; research and provide information to City staff and the general public regarding land use issues and standard environmental documentation;
• May perform a variety of activities relating to the development of financial and statistical reporting, including accumulating, analyzing and tracking of revenues and expenditures; analyzes financial trends and develops projections of costs and funding opportunities.
• May conduct surveys, research, and analysis of various departmental issues; may update procedure and policy manuals;
• May answer phones and/or assist the public or others including such tasks as taking messages, responding to questions or requests for assistance, screening and referring to sources of information, providing forms and explaining procedures for completion;
• May prepare bills, orders, notes and receipts, permits, licenses; perform basic arithmetic operations; receive fees when the amount is readily obtainable by simple computations, or from fixed schedules; post data, keep records, and prepare statistical or other types of reports in accordance with predetermined forms and procedures.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

Glenn County is seeking a Human Resources (Personnel) Analyst I/II to support a wide range of HR functions, including employee relations, leave administration, benefits, recruitment, and more. This is a hands­-on, generalist role offering broad exposure to HR operations and the opportunity to make a direct impact on County employees and services. The official job class title for this position is currently the Personnel Analyst I/II. This position is scheduled for 40 hours per week. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO

•    Assisting with employee benefits and health plan administration, employee inquiries, enrollment support, and new employee orientation
•    Supporting leave administration processes and maintaining confidential personnel records and documentation
•    Preparing, proofreading, and coordinating reports, agendas, contracts, correspondence, notices, and other professional documents
•    Responding to employee and department inquiries and assisting in interpreting policies, procedures, and personnel-related requirements

The Deputy Probation Officer I/II/III position in the Probation Department will investigate cases of juvenile delinquency or dependency and adult applicants for probation; supervise and counsel juveniles and adults on probation; prepares reports and recommendations for court. Provides professional casework services to adult and juvenile offenders involving the referral, supervision and rehabilitation of juveniles and adults on probation; and provides advocacy and related services to victims of crimes. The Deputy Probation Officer III is the advanced journey level position in the class. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week. 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares and presents reports and recommendations regarding juveniles and adults for the Superior Court.
• Investigates violations of the law by juveniles and adults, and prepares a variety of reports to the court on individuals under the jurisdiction of the court.
• Analyzes and uses information gathered by interviewing the accused and others involved in a case to assess client needs; develops a supervision plan designed to achieve desired behavioral changes; prepares progress reports.
• Arrests juvenile/adult probationers, or makes arrangements through law enforcement agencies for the arrest of juvenile/adult probationers who violate the law or terms of probation; physically restrains juvenile/adult probationers when necessary.
• Makes financial arrangements for the collection and distribution of fines, restitution and other payments.

Share your passion by teaching students! Enrichment instructors lead a one hour class on-site after school. Enjoy the freedom to plan a curriculum on your area of expertise and share that knowledge with a class size of 5-15 students.

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply for this position.

DEFINITION: Plan, organize and execute personal curriculum for elementary age children for a one hour onsite outdoor enrichment program. Program hours could include Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 2pm – 4pm and Wednesday 1:15pm – 3:15pm, preparation hours can be discussed.

• Demonstrate excellent customer service and communicate effectively with schools, parents, and children.

• Create and implement your own curriculum within an allocated budget
• Manage the task of checking in and checking out each child to the proper guardian.
• Encourage good behavior and appropriate manners.
• Encourage active participation and provide a safe and nurturing environment.
• Implement and lead appropriate activities for elementary aged children.
• Supervise and ensure the safety of the children during enrichment.
• Motivate participants through example.
• Create and maintain a positive after school environment.
• Accurately maintain attendance records.
• Practice proper hygiene, with self and children, to deter the spread of disease (colds, flu, etc).
• Render first aid in case of minor injuries.
• Ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing.
• The ability to speak English clearly and understandably.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Must be able to lift 50lbs

TRAINING & EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education, training, and experience, which likely provides the required knowledge and abilities.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT CONDITIONS: Candidates receiving a conditional job offer must pass a pre-placement fingerprint review. Candidates must possess a current CPR/AED and First Aid certificate and be comfortable calling 911 in an emergency.

The City of Marysville is excited to announce that we are looking for Intern Fire Fighters.  Currently, we have 3 positions looking to be filled.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.
