General

The Maintenance Instructor is responsible for all the classroom and on-the-job training activities relating to current bus maintenance for the San Mateo County Transit District (SamTrans), Caltrain, and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA).

Essential Functions & Duties

Examples of Duties

Minimum Qualifications

Sufficient experience, training and/or education to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position. In lieu of a degree, work-related experience that demonstrates the skills and experience necessary to perform this role will be accepted. Development of the required knowledge and abilities is typically obtained through but not limited to:

High School Diploma or equivalent
Six (6) years of related progressive full-time experience as an automotive/truck diagnostic technician, repair technician, or instructor.
Experience assessing and training others in a classroom or shop environment is required.
Experience with powertrain electronic controls, on-board Hi-Voltage systems, on-board Hi-pressure systems, ABS, HVAC, and PLC systems is required.
Strong oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet programs.
Demonstrated journey level mechanic experience showing knowledge, expertise and ability to troubleshoot advanced systems and make repairs.

Preferred Qualifications

Zero emission technology including battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell experience highly desired.

The Department

The Public Works department is comprised of the Maintenance, Engineering and WQCP (Water Quality Control Plant) divisions. The Maintenance Division is responsible for all of the asphalt and concrete streets within the City as well as all of the associated signalized intersections, streetlights, road signs and traffic markings. The division also maintains the sanitary sewer/storm system which includes all of the sanitary sewer lines, all of the storm lines and catch basins, several storm water pump stations, as well as various large storm water trash capture devices throughout the City.

THE POSITION

Under close to general supervision, this hourly position is responsible for cleaning and maintaining the downtown corridor, including the removal of litter, debris, and illegal dumping. Duties are primarily driven by SeeClickFix service requests and may include other related maintenance and cleaning tasks as assigned.

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate will have experience with outdoor maintenance work and be familiar with basic tools, equipment, and safety practices related to cleaning and debris removal in public spaces. They will take pride in keeping high-visibility areas clean and welcoming, respond promptly to service requests (such as those submitted through SeeClickFix), and interact professionally with the public and City staff. The ideal candidate will be reliable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or as part of a team, using sound judgment while following established safety procedures.

TYPICAL DUTIES (may include but are not limited to the following):

San Mateo County Health's Aging and Disability Services Division is seeking qualified individuals for the unclassified and limited-term positions of In-Home Supportive Services Social Worker I/II/III. Social Workers provide a wide variety of welfare services in such areas as information and referral, protective services, out-of-home services, health related services, chore services, and other welfare services within the Health and the Human Services Agency.

Currently, there are three limited-term vacancies and an unclassified vacancy in the In-Home Supportive Services (IHSS) Program. The program provides in-home care for persons who cannot safely remain in their own home without such assistance. The recipients of IHSS are aged, blind and/or disabled and eligible for Medi-Cal. Disabled and/or blind minor children may also be eligible for IHSS. The Social Worker will make a home visit to determine eligibility for the program and to conduct an assessment to determine a range of service hours for particular tasks. The IHSS recipient or guardian is the IHSS employer and is responsible for hiring and supervising a provider for the care they receive. The Social Worker will travel throughout the County to conduct home visits, attend meetings and perform other duties of the position. The Social Worker will work in the San Mateo, CA Aging and Disability Services Office.

This IHSS Social Worker will conduct intake and/or on-going activities for IHSS recipients. Some of those activities include:

Conduct initial IHSS assessments using a detailed State assessment tool.
Complete necessary documents, paperwork, and work within different information technology systems.
Conduct annual reassessments.
Educate, support, and perform administrative duties for IHSS recipients and care providers to understand/comply with program regulations.
Provide education, outreach, and community resources information.
Participate in quality improvement efforts.
Collaborate with quality assurance and program integrity to ensure proper adherence to regulations.
Prepare for and attend Fair Hearings.
Engage in interdisciplinary team meetings or other activities to support San Mateo County's vision for integrated services.

Social Workers provide highly skilled, intensive casework services to individuals and their families and provide casework consultation within the department and to outside agencies. Incumbents of positions at this level work with minimal supervision and are expected to have acquired the high degree of assessment skills required to perform care coordination and referral tasks in complex casework areas. Lead supervisory responsibilities may be assigned as circumstances dictate.

NOTE: This is an unclassified position. Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department. We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc. In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

They support Operations and Maintenance by troubleshooting, researching, designing, purchasing, and installing field instrumentation, programmable logic controller (PLC), operator interface terminals (OIT), variable speed drives, electrical systems, and other appurtenances. The Process Control Technician provides PLC and OIT programming and installation support making programming changes as required for the efficient operation of new and existing District facilities.

Qualifications
Any combination of training, education and experience which demonstrates possession of the knowledge and abilities stated above and the ability to perform the duties of the position.

Experience and Education

Graduation from high school or equivalent, supplemented by college or equivalent course work in engineering, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, and/or computer systems.
Two years of increasingly responsible experience involving the configuration and programming of process control, instrumentation and operator interface terminals.
A Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field from an accredited college or university is desirable.

Licenses and Certification

Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record to maintain insurability.
Possession of a State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator Certification for Grade D1 is desirable.
