The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
• Attend training and staff meetings as assigned
• Assist other City departments in the event of major emergencies
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECIEVED

The position is supervised by the Waterpark Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
• Ability to secure and retain valid California driver's license
• All candidates must meet the following physical requirements:
  • Must not be allergic to chlorine or other pool chemicals
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (100% of assigned shift, and/or in excess of 10 hours)
  • Ability to walk up and down stairs
  • Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, kneel, stoop, push, and pull
  • Work in an outdoor environment with wet conditions and extreme heat
  • Work in direct sunlight
  • Vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

REQUIREMENTS FOR EMPLOYMENT

• Must be able to handle sensitive and/or stressful situations or information with tact, discretion and significant awareness of confidentiality
• Must effectively communicate with adults and children from a variety of cultural backgrounds
• Willingness to comply with suspected child abuse reporting (11166.5 PC)
• Employees are required to be certified in Adult/Child CPR, First Aid, & AED from American Red Cross, American Heart Association or supervisor approved equivalent. Employees must be certified within 30 days of hire date or prior to the first day of work, whichever occurs earlier.
• Fingerprinting and TB test are required
• Must submit verification of legal right to work in the United States as a condition of employment

The City of Campbell's Police Department is seeking qualified candidates for Public Safety Dispatcher!

Under general supervision, to receive and transmit routine and emergency telephone, radio and computer messages; to keep a variety of police records; and to do related work as required.

Typical Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Answers all telephone calls promptly and courteously;
• Makes rapid and accurate determination of the nature of each call and the degree, severity, and location of any emergency;
• Refers non-emergency callers to the appropriate agency or other resource;
• Questions emergency callers to elicit complete and accurate information necessary for emergency response and enters information in the computer-aided dispatch system;
• Gather information using multiple audio and visual resources;
• Selects emergency response units in exact accordance with established user agency policies and procedures;
• Promptly and properly alerts response units in exact accordance with user agency policies and procedures;
• Maintains current status on all field units;
• Closely monitors any situation presenting a potential danger to the life or safety of field personnel and takes immediate action to dispatch assistance as required;
• Maintains radio contact with field units and enforces proper channel control, discipline, and courtesy;
• Maintains records and logs reflecting the outcome and details of emergency incidents;
• Participates in training and evaluation activities to establish and maintain a high level of proficiency;
• Accesses automated law enforcement systems, inputs data and information, and makes accurate entries into automated record files in accordance with applicable laws, statutes and Department of Justice requirements; and 
• Builds and maintains positive working relationships with coworkers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.

Knowledge of:

• Standard communications principles and methods for public service dispatch activities;

Hours of Work: Public Safety Dispatchers typically work 12 hours shifts, with 4 work days one week and 3 work days the following week.  Shifts available area a day and night shift, or variation, that can rotate every six months.  Dispatchers may have to work weekends, holidays and overtime. 

Special Conditions: Incumbents must have the ability to work, as assigned, on schedules that may include Saturdays, Sundays, holidays, and non-traditional work hours; and a willingness to work overtime as required.

Other Requirements: Must be able to perform all the essential functions of the job assignment.  All candidates will be required to pass a City background investigation, which will include fingerprinting and may include polygraph and/or psychological testing.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:

• Graduation from an accredited high school (GED may be substituted for a high school diploma); plus
• One year of successful full-time responsible experience performing work where the essential functions of the job involved public contact, computer usage or heavy telephone traffic.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS FOR APPLICATION:

The Silliman Family Aquatic Center Lifeguard Academy is for those seeking employment with the City of Newark. This program is a beginner-level course that covers Lifeguard Training, Water Park Lifeguard Training, First Aid, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, Administering Emergency Oxygen, Swim Lesson Instruction, and center-specific training. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

**No certifications or previous experience is required! Candidates must be comfortable in the water. Once you successfully pass your lifeguard certification, you’ll get a $1.00 raise to make $19/hour as a lifeguard.**

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Lifeguards for our fantastic swim lessons and aquatic programs at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. • Maintaining constant surveillance of patrons in the facility
• Acting immediately and appropriately to ensure the safety of patrons in the event of an emergency/Providing emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
• Performing various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility
• Having a thorough knowledge of rescue techniques

THE POSITION
The Utilities Field Services Supervisor supervises, plans, schedules, and reviews activities related to the installations and maintenance of water mains and appurtenances, including water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, backflow prevention devices, and water meters, within the City's water system.   This position also oversees the City’s meter reading and cross connection control programs, and assists the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger in the overall planning, administration, and management of Utilities Operations and Maintenance functions.  
 
DEFINITION
Under general direction, to supervise, plan, schedule, and review activities related to the  installations and maintenance of water mains and appurtenances, including water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, backflow prevention devices, and water meters, of the City's water system, as well as field customer services.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a management classification allocated to the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department reporting to the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager. The Utilities Field Services Supervisor is responsible for the field installations and customer services related to water meters and backflow device maintenance. The position is also responsible for supervision of meter reading and performing supervision and management in support of the Utilities Division's goals and objectives.  The position is also responsible for assisting the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger in the overall planning, administration, and management of Utilities Operations and Maintenance functions. This position is distinguished from that of subordinate utilities classifications by its responsibility for the supervision of two maintenance work groups (i.e., Field Services and Customer Services).  This position is distinguished from the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger position by the latter position's overall responsibility for the management and administration of the City's water distribution and sewer collection systems, the Storekeeper position, and administrative and clerical staff.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
 
Field services, including installation of water mains and appurtenances for City projects and/or private developments, maintenance of the water mains and appurtenances, leak repairs, water meter installation and repair, backflow prevention device installation, repairs, inspection, and testing, and meter reading program.  Field Services may be required to assist in smaller repair jobs to the sewer collection system. 

Coordinates operations with the needs of the public, outside agencies, and other City divisions.  
 
Assists the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager with budget preparation and performs other administrative work as assigned. 
 
Receives, investigates and responds to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints, and requests for service. Works cooperatively with City staff, residents, businesses, property owners, and other utilities and outside agencies.
 
Confers with developers and contractors as needed to ensure that the City's water system standards are met.
 
Identifies water mains and appurtenances maintenance needs in the utility system, discusses them with Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager, and initiates proper action to resolve the problems. Ensures that the meter reading program is always on track and meeting its goals.  Assures that emergency staff is available 24 hours a day to take necessary action.
 
Oversees the development of schedules and establishment of assignment priorities for the Field Services section, as well as the Customer Service section.  
 
Develops and maintains specifications for water main and appurtenances materials and equipment and recommends purchases.  
 
Prepares and maintains specialized water system records and forms, and reports to regulatory agencies. Prepares all correspondence needed to ensure effective coordination between the Utilities Operations and Maintenance, other functions within Utilities Operations and Maintenance, Public Works, other City departments, and the general public. 
 
Reviews, evaluates and prepares comments on construction plans, drawings and specifications related to water system infrastructure projects including mains, connections, valves, equipment, and other systems.
 
Ensures that all Underground Service Alert (USA) markings for the City's water and sewer mains, and fiber optic cable are done in a timely and accurate manner.
 
Participates in interviews and selection of new employees under the positions responsibilities, and training of employees in work procedures, standards and safety practices. 
 
Prepares and provides input into employee performance evaluations, including setting and assessing goals, conducts counseling on work-related issues, and makes recommendations regarding discipline.
 
Actively participates in the Public Works Department's Safety Committee.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: 

• Water transmission and distribution operations and maintenance, and underground installation programs; and safe work practices.
• Principles of hydraulic theory as it applies to water distribution system, water transmission systems, pressure zones and pressure regulating valves.
• Current methods, codes and regulations governing underground work and water main and appurtenances installation.
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems including data propagation methods, and associated hardware and software.
• Modern work order development and processing.
• Principles of management and supervision including work planning, direction, training, and evaluation of work and staff performance.

Ability to: 

• Direct the daily field services of a municipal water distribution system, and field customer services functions.
• Supervise, train and evaluate subordinate field, technical, and support staff; and coordinate schedules to insure the timely processing of the public's request.
• Communicate both orally and in writing to prepare clear and accurate maintenance and safety reports, lead discussions, and present information to City staff, contractors, and the general public.
• Review and evaluate construction plans, drawings and specifications related to field services projects including underground infrastructure, and related equipment.  
• Calculate field assets historical and instantaneous performance using a variety of data, formulas and equations.
• Make reasonable assessments as to repair or replacement of water main, valves, and other related equipment; and advise Utilities staff, design consultants, engineers and contractors in acquisition and installation of new equipment.
• Make informed judgments concerning maintenance parameters of water system; and make independent judgments during emergencies. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:
 
Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the Field Services of a water system including one (1) year of responsible supervisory or lead position experience in a distribution system classified as a D4 system or higher by the California Department of Health Services.
 
Education: Completion of twelfth grade or possession of GED, supplemented by college course work related to potable water, water distribution, wastewater collection, recycled water distribution, or a science field.  Possession of an Associate's Degree in water distribution, wastewater collection, recycled water distribution, or in a science field may be substituted for the required coursework.  Possession of a bachelor's degree is desirable.  

License or Certificate:Requires possession and maintenance of a valid Water Distribution Operator D4 Certificate issued by the California Department of Health Services,

OR

Possession and maintenance of valid Water Distribution D3 Certification issued by the California Department of Health Services with the ability to obtain and maintain a D4 Certification within eighteen (18) months of appointment to the position. 

AND

Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
