Woodside Fire Protection District offers an exceptional Cadet Program for individuals interested in a career in the Fire Service. Cadets gain hands-on experience participating in training and public service events. Cadets work 24-hour shifts and ride-along on emergency calls.

Woodside Cadets will work and be involved in:

The Community:

The purpose of this program is to augment full-time staffing in the City of Lincoln Firefighting program, but mostly the intent is to provide opportunity to develop the skills and abilities necessary for a candidate to gain employment in the fire services industry. The non-sworn Reserve Firefighter will gain the valuable work experience needed to obtain the California State Firefighter I certification. The City of Lincoln will benefit from producing well trained reservists who assist the department with the gained skills, knowledge and abilities.  PART TIME RECREATION SPECIALIST I/II

This position will primarily be assigned to front desk reception and facility assistance for the Recreation Center.

Applicants must be able to work up to 20 hours a week including evenings and weekends.

The Position

The Community Services Department plays a key role in enhancing the community and ensuring the citizens of Fremont receive excellent customer service through the management of recreation facilities, quality recreation and environmental programs, park planning and the maintenance of City parks, trees, and medians. The Park Ranger/Naturalist will provide information and assistance to the public, as well as enforce laws, rules, regulations, and the Fremont Municipal Code. Additionally, the incumbent will conduct environmental education programs and assist with implementing the initiatives of the Homeless Task Force.

Examples of Duties

- Work in prescribed uniform and is responsible for general patrol and supervision of Central Park, Lake Elizabeth, recreation facilities and parks throughout Fremont.
- Perform as a first responder in the park and facilities and activate emergency response as needed.
- Assist with the development and delivery of environmental education/interpretative programs.
- Initiate and maintain community based relationships with schools and other local organizations in support of interpretive programs and park projects.
- Assist with developing, planning, and delivering special events with an interpretive focus such as Earth Day.

Participates in the protection, improvement, and maintenance of parks, trails, and facilities, and in the organization of day-to-day operations of the work group. Actual salary will be determined by the final candidate’s qualifications and experience.  The Park Ranger classifications consist of a base amount and an approximate five percent (5%) ongoing non-pensionable compensation pay as follows:
