The ideal candidate should possess a combination of technical skills, certifications, experience, and professional attributes suited to complete a full range of journey level mechanic work by performing preventative maintenance, repair and overhaul of gasoline, diesel, alternative fuel, hybrid and electric, heavy duty vehicles and equipment that includes but not limited to fire engines and pump systems, fire trucks including large trailer aerial ladder trucks, gang mowers, aerial work platforms, and construction equipment such as loaders, graders, dump trucks, back hoes, asphalt trucks, trailers, rollers, street sweepers, air compressors, and off road equipment.

The Department

The mission of the Maintenance Operations Department is to enhance the community by providing high quality maintenance services through the maintenance of safe and effective transportation systems and public infrastructure that support a desirable quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors, and to support the City organization with efficient and effective services for City buildings and fleet vehicles.

The Positions
The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide HVAC maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Building Maintenance Workers (HVAC) design, fabricate, inspect, install, troubleshoot and evaluate problems with HVAC equipment.  They also repair heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and related apparatus. Additionally, they install, repair and/or replace controls for energy management system as well as perform preventive maintenance and sheet metal work, including design and fabrication.

The Building Maintenance Division of the Maintenance Operations Department is also seeking experienced Building Maintenance Workers to provide general maintenance support for all public facilities, such as City Hall, Historic Buildings, Fire Stations, Police Department, Recreation facilities, and Rental Housing. Maintenance tasks for the general assignment typically include painting, electrical repairs, wall repair, roof repair, carpentry/metal work, and floor repair.

These are seasonal grant-funded positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Successful applicants will serve an important role on the Fire Prevention team.

The North Tahoe Fire Protection District is currently accepting applications for current and future job openings from qualified individuals to serve on the chipping crew. These positions are grant-funded, seasonal positions assigned to a 40-hour work week. These positions are returning to the fire district in 2025, and we’ll be hiring three people to operate the chipping crew.  This position is expected to be active from approximately May through November.  The actual start and end dates will be dependent on weather and snow conditions and may be extended beyond 6 months, but no more than 9 months from the employment start date.  The eligibility list established from this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies.  

The Chipping Crew Members work under the direct supervision of the Division Chief of Fire and Life Safety or their designee.  

The primary purpose of this crew is to operate a residential chipping program for the local community. This includes responding to chipping requests, traveling to those addresses with a truck and chipper, chipping the material, ensuring a clean site upon leaving, potentially hauling and dumping the material at a temporary holding site, assisting with loading, and ensuring activities are adequately tracked. The applicant must be comfortable working in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions and lifting objects frequently up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.  Chipping crew members will also assist with community workdays utilizing the truck and chipper or assisting with cutting and hauling combustible materials and filling green waste dumpsters.

The Environmental Program Manager position manages, supervises, plans, coordinates, directs, and reviews the activities of the Glenn County Air Pollution Control District.  This position receives direction from the Air Pollution Control Officer or CUPA Director and exercises supervision over technical, administrative, and inspection staff. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Oversees the activities of the Air Pollution control District. 
• Assists in the formulation and implementation of departmental policies and procedures.
• Participates in the interviewing, selection and evaluation of personnel assigned; plans and participates in staff training. Recommends personnel assignments to ensure adequate program staffing.
• Plans and supervises district-wide inspection programs; oversees the work of subordinate personnel engaged in inspection and coordinates their efforts to ensure timely inspections throughout the county.
• Enforces Air Pollution regulations and standards at industrial and agricultural sources in accordance with local, state and federal laws and regulations to protect public health and safety.
• Reviews relevant legislative bills and analyzes potential impact on the department.
• Assists in the preparation of the department’s annual budget.

Under direct supervision, a Water Distribution Operator Trainee assists in the operation and maintenance of the potable water and recycled water distribution systems; operates a variety of equipment; inspects and repairs water meters and water service lines; monitors and records meter readings of water consumption levels and assists with related adjustments as needed; collects and transport water samples for lab analysis; and performs other duties as assigned. This trainee level position will initially work under direct supervision and receive on-the-job training to develop skills and experience necessary for safe operation and maintenance of the water distribution system.

DESCRIPTION
Water Distribution Operators inspect and repair water meters and water service lines; monitor and record meter readings of water consumption levels and assist with related adjustments as needed; collect and transport water samples for lab analysis; conduct bacteriological testing and monitors chlorine levels; coordinate and monitor construction and improvement projects; conduct inventory and order parts; program pump stations; and perform other duties as assigned. 

As experience is gained and certifications are achieved, promotional opportunities to advance up to a Water Distribution Operator III is possible without having to participate in additional recruitment and testing processes with the City.

Under direction of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official, performs complex residential and commercial inspections of buildings and structures in various stages of construction, alteration and repair for compliance with applicable building, accessibility, energy and zoning codes and ordinances; responds to inquiries from the public, applicants, contractors and other City staff and departments; performs related duties as required.

This is a NEW program within the Marysville Fire Department.  The Marysville Fire Department is hiring continuously for twelve (12) Firefighter Reserves.  These positions will be funded for four (4) years through the SAFER Grant.  

For each 24 hour shift worked, you will receive $60 for food and mileage, that will be paid monthly in accordance with the City of Marysville's established pay schedule.  

Under general supervision of the Chief Building/Fire Code Official or designee, performs complex and detailed inspections of structures for conformance to codes, ordinances, approved plans, calculations and specifications; reads and interprets construction drawings and specifications for compliance with codes, ordinances, energy and disabled access requirements; conducts investigations of suspected violations of the Municipal and Building codes, including code enforcement; may assist in training other Building Inspectors and providing direction to other technical and/or clerical staff, including temporary; employees. Performs related duties as required.
