The Air District is currently accepting applications for the position of Senior Rule Development Engineer (Senior Air Quality Engineer) in the Rules & Strategic Policy Division. This is an open recruitment for one (1) full-time, represented positions.
 

About the Position

The Rules and Strategic Policy Division works with all levels of the Air District, including staff, management, executives, and Board members in developing and modifying Air District rules to provide emissions reductions to improve air quality both regionally and at the neighborhood level and protect the climate. The Senior Rule Development Engineer (Senior Air Quality Engineer) will: 

• Work closely with professional and technical staff and perform complex scientific research and economic analyses and engineering work for developing regulations to control air pollutants (including those contributing to climate change and contributing to localize air quality impacts in overburdened communities).
• Review and draft regulatory language, develop and implement cost effectiveness and incremental cost effectiveness calculations for a wide variety of sources in an industrial sector with a variety of control options.
• Analyze emissions inventories to determine baseline emissions and reduction estimates for rules under development. 
• Review environmental and socioeconomic analyses required by statute.
• Develop testing and verification procedures. 
• Advise Air District managers, brief executives, and present at workshops, committee meetings and board hearings.
• Work closely with the Community Engagement Section staff and other Air District divisions to strengthen partnerships with key community stakeholders.
• Manage external work duties and efforts of various contractors.
• Perform related work as assigned.

DEFINITION

Under direction, provides lead direction to engineering staff and performs the more difficult and complex professional engineering work in a variety of areas such as permit application evaluation, toxic risk screening and assessment evaluations, compliance audits and source testing; modeling and source inventory; performs related work as assigned.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

This is the specialist level class in this series. In addition to performing the more difficult and complex engineering work, responsibilities include functioning as the project leader for a variety of engineering projects, providing training to other District staff and coordinating technical data gathering and compilation and the preparation of special and technical reports. This class is distinguished from Supervising Air Quality Engineer in that the latter supervises the staff and participates in the activities of assigned air quality engineering responsibilities.

This is the advanced lead level in the professional engineering series. Incumbents provide lead direction to air quality engineers and performs highly specialized and difficult engineering projects. Incumbents are assigned to design and implement programs that require considerable professional knowledge and the use of independent judgement. This class is distinguished from the Principal Air Quality Engineer in that the latter has the responsibility for developing new programs and handling the most difficult, sensitive, or critical projects.

Each day, Deputy Probation Officers (DPOs) have the opportunity to contribute to community safety by actively engaging with at-risk youth and adults. Deputy Probation Officer II is the journey level class of this series. Under direction, incumbents independently perform a variety of complex assignments primarily in the areas of intake, investigation, or supervision. This class is distinguished from Deputy Probation Officer III in that the latter has acquired greater work experience and technical competence and handles the exceptionally difficult cases requiring a high level of intensive probation casework. The III level may also mentor or train other staff in areas in which they possess expertise, provide lead direction or substitute for the supervisor on a short-term basis.

Successful candidates must have two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer AND have successfully completed a California POST OR STC-certified P.C. 832 Arrest and Control course AND a STC-certified Probation Officer Core course to qualify.

IMPORTANT: Individuals who are not currently employed full-time as a Deputy Probation Officer but have a minimum of two years of full-time experience in a California County Probation Department should not have a separation date greater than six months from the date of application.

To qualify for this position, you must possess all of the following:

• Two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer.

As a Deputy Probation Officer, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Interview adults or juveniles, their families, and other relevant individuals to assess the nature of their marital, domestic, employment, financial, environmental, or other challenges.
• Formulate probation plans and present recommendations to supervisors and the court.
• Set up and recommend payment schedules for restitution and fines; evaluate restitution claims submitted by victims and assess the probationer's ability to pay.
• Explain procedures, rights, and responsibilities to probationers.
• Inform juveniles, adults, or their families of available community resources.
• Propose alternative probation plans as needed.
• Obtain releases for medical, psychiatric, or other necessary information about probationers.

• Identify treatment, educational, employment, or other programs required by probationers; make referrals and follow up to verify and evaluate services received.

• Consult with professionals in law enforcement, medicine, religion, law, and mental health.
• Collaborate with state and local welfare, school, and law enforcement agencies.
• Stay informed of departmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Experience:

Two years of experience performing duties comparable to those of an entry level Deputy Probation Officer I in San Mateo County.

Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age on or before date of appointment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States by federal law.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment.

About The County

Position Summary

Under general supervision, operates a variety of transit vehicles to transport passengers along specific, assigned routes according to the District's requirements. Provide service in a safe, courteous and reliable manner. Responsible for written reports and other information as required. Upon completion of the Golden Gate Transit Training Program, the employee operates regularly scheduled assignments. All runs will originate in either Santa Rosa, Novato or San Rafael.

Hourly Pay: $31.29/hour to $36.81/hour

 If selected for the position, new hires will need to complete Golden Gate Bridge, Highway & Transportation District’s Bus Operator Apprenticeship Program ($31.29/hr benefits not included) which is approximately twelve (12) weeks, Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Upon successful completion of training, pay increase granted to $33.13 per hour, plus benefits. All new hires will be required to complete a 120 probationary period upon completion of training.

San Mateo County Health's Public Health, Policy and Planning Division has exciting field-based opportunities for well-qualified and motivated Nurse Practitioners to provide both primary and urgent care to adults from vulnerable populations within our community—people experiencing homelessness and/or in shelters, monolingual Spanish speakers and other new immigrants, and those without insurance or underinsured. These services are provided through various Mobile Clinic modalities and venues, including but not limited to street medicine, shelter medicine, and the mobile coach. We are looking for collaborative Nurse Practitioners to work in and lead various multidisciplinary service teams in the field to provide comprehensive, low-threshold, client-centered care and engagement.

Teams are staffed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), Psychiatrist, Medical Services Assistant, AOD Case Manager, and Patient Services Assistants. These teams work closely with our community partners from the Human Services Agency and community-based organizations who locate and identify clients needing medical and/or mental health services, as well as provide additional health, housing, and social services in the field.

Under general supervision, Nurse Practitioners provide urgent care and primary health care services such as physical examinations, chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes and hypertension), and referrals/linkages to specialty clinics as appropriate.

Currently, Public Health Clinics has one full-time, regular, 40-hour-per-week vacancy for a bilingual Spanish Nurse Practitioner and two 40-hour-per-week, Limited-Term Nurse Practitioner vacancies, requiring flexible schedules and field-based work at different locations. Sixty-five percent of the NP’s time will be in the field, with the remainder spent in the office documenting notes, placing orders, and coordinating with other staff as needed.

The ideal candidate has experience:

• In family practice addressing chronic disease management

• In the diagnosis and treatment of sexually transmitted infections

• Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams

• With the underserved population, including those who are homeless

Examples of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide low-threshold, comprehensive care for San Mateo County’s most marginalized and vulnerable populations, including people experiencing homelessness, those in shelters, migrant and immigrant farmworkers, the recently incarcerated, the uninsured, and those with financial challenges.

• Provide comprehensive and urgent care in a variety of non-traditional settings, including homeless encampments, outdoor locations, shelters, and a mobile RV clinic.

• Demonstrate the ability to work closely and collaboratively with a small team in often challenging environments (e.g., homeless encampments, shelters, extreme weather, individuals under the influence, or those with mental health challenges).

• Take stewardship of medical care for assigned geographic populations and/or shelters.

• Identify and manage common illnesses and other health problems.

• Refer urgent issues beyond scope to appropriate specialists.

• Build relationships with community partners to improve health outcomes and expand services.

• Counsel families regarding health maintenance and care.

Qualifications

Education and Experience
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.

• Education: Completion of an advanced nursing degree from a program accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) or the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), with emphasis in a Nurse Practitioner specialty area.

DUTIES:

The primary duties will depend on the intern’s assigned position and associated field of interest and may include the following:

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Information Systems Manager, this position provides system support during implementation and ongoing support after implementation including report writing, configuration, routine inquiries and user support for the District’s various enterprise technology systems including UKG Pro Workforce Management Time & Attendance and Central Square Technologies Finance Enterprise.   The Business Information Systems Engineer works with end-users, vendors, and members of the Information Systems Department to identify, analyze, and resolve systems issues and provide maximum capability and satisfaction to users.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical lead of the enterprise application
• Focused on delivering excellent customer service
• Adhere to incident, problem, change management, and other Information Systems best practices
• Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the ongoing automation and usage of the district-wide application systems
• Develop and maintain user and technical knowledge of application systems
• Serve as the liaison between application system users, vendor provided help desk as well as the Information Systems Department
• Plan, co-ordinate and test system upgrades
• Fulfill users various data mining requests
• Support the various large interface integrations between the application systems and fixing data problems that occur in these interfaces
• Develop and provide user training for all modules of the systems
• Writes user documentation, provides user information, procedures, and training materials in a variety of formats as needed
• Develops a knowledge base of problem symptoms and solutions to improve the timeliness of problem resolution
• Identify unused system functionality and present opportunities for improvement of business processes using this functionality
• Continue to monitor and stay current on new features contained in new releases of the software
• Recommend and implement software upgrade paths

San Mateo County Health- San Mateo Medical Center seeks well-qualified candidates for the position of Program Coordinator I in the Patient Access Division. The current vacancy is a full-time, limited term vacancy. The duration of the assignment will last about 6 months.

 

Under the direction of the Patient Access Manager, the Program Coordinator will provide support to over 150 Patient Services Assistants across various departments, including Emergency, Admitting, Long-Term Care, Same-Day Surgery, and will average 27 Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) sites with 8-16 hours of weekly program refresher training on several publicly sponsored coverage options.

 

Additionally, this position will assist the team with several EPIC post-go-live projects, and work queues as we work to revamp processes and enhance collaboration for improved workflows and revenue-generating process efficiencies.

The Assistant Civil Engineer is an entry-level class in the Civil Engineer series. This class is distinguished from the Associate Civil Engineer by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to positions within the Civil Engineer series. Incumbents perform less complex office and field engineering work and assignments are generally routine or closely related within a framework of established procedures. The Assistant Civil Engineer receives general supervision from higher level professional engineers and may exercise technical or functional supervision over technical engineering staff. The Assistant Civil Engineer position does not require registration as a civil engineer or professional engineer.  This position will have a focus in development review but will also participate in Capital Project delivery.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Perform a variety of engineering duties in support of capital improvement projects including road construction, storm drains, sewers, traffic systems and related construction projects.
• Perform design and engineering studies for capital improvement projects, including the preparation of project plans, research project design requirements, drawing specifications, cost estimates and project schedules.
• Preparation of Request for Proposals, including scope of work for a variety of engineering projects and studies. Management of engineering consultant procurement process and oversight of engineering consultants.
