The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The shared goal of facility staff is to provide youth with support and tools that will assist them with successfully reintegrating back into the community.  Staff are provided with state mandated relevant training, which includes youth trauma; crisis management; cultural competence; mental health awareness; sexual abuse and harassment; and proper use of force.    

IMPORTANT: 

• All qualified applicants will be  required  to participate in the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), Correctional Officer & Probation Officer series exam. Additional details with specifics will follow after the  published application review date.
• Upon request, applicants placed on the eligibility list will be required to complete, sign and return a Personal History Statement directly to the Probation Department .

The Extra Help Employee - Senior Nutrition Driver position, under the direction of the Senior  Nutrition Manager, will be responsible for ensuring the orderly and timely delivery of daily meals and services to senior citizens.  The position requires the ability to plan, organize and coordinate the meal preparation and delivery and congregate services in a courteous manner. The position is at-will, temporary, part-time and scheduled for up to twenty five (25) hours per week. 
 

JOB DUTIES

• Responsible for the safe transport of meals following all food safety principles.  
• Accurately pack cold food transport containers with cold food and beverages and ice packs. 
•  Treat all staff, volunteers and seniors with courtesy.  
• Schedule for the pickup and delivery of meals to seniors from the nutrition site.  
• Clean the inside and outside of all food transport containers each day. 
• Upon return to kitchen, unload van and place all equipment in appropriate storage areas. 
• Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety at senior nutrition site.

CHILD SUPPORT SPECIALIST I

Performs a wide variety of child support duties consisting of maintaining a caseload, locating and interviewing custodial and non-custodial parents and others to elicit factual information for the purpose of establishing child support obligations and enforcing child support laws; arranges for support payments when possible; prepares cases for court hearings as necessary; and performs related work as required.

Working under close supervision, Child Support Specialist I is the entry/trainee level in the Child Support Specialist series. Employees in this class receive in-service training, and are given detailed instructions in the performance of duties related to child support laws, regulations, and a broad range of child support casework activities. As requisite skills and knowledge are developed, greater independence and the full scope of responsibility are exercised. Employees are expected to promote to Child Support Specialist II after one year of satisfactory performance at the entry/trainee level.

CHILD SUPPORT SPECIALIST II

Performs a wide variety of child support duties consisting of maintaining a caseload, locating and interviewing custodial and non-custodial parents and others to elicit factual information for the purpose of establishing child support obligations and enforcing child support laws; arranges for support payments when possible; prepares cases for court hearings as necessary; and performs related work as required.

Working under general supervision, Child Support Specialist II is the journey level in the Child Support Specialist series. Employees at this level are expected to perform a broad range of child support casework from intake to establishment, enforcement, and case closure. Within legal requirements and departmental policies and procedures, incumbents operate with considerable independence and must exercise discretion and judgment in evaluating cases and determining the level of support and the methods of enforcement. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the lower level of Child Support Specialist I, or if filled from the outside, require prior related experience.

Child Support Specialist II differs from the higher class of Child Support Specialist III in that the latter is the advanced journey level, and incumbents act as lead worker or exercise detailed subject knowledge of a specific program area or specialized department system.

CHILD SUPPORT SPECIALIST III

Under limited supervision, the Child Support Specialist III performs a wide variety of child support duties involving the more difficult and/or sensitive cases; performs special assignments; maintains a caseload; and performs related work as required.

The Child Support Specialist III is the advanced journey level in the Child Support Specialist series. Incumbents act as the lead-worker to a group of child support staff, and/or exercise detailed subject matter knowledge of a specific program area or specialized system inherent to the operations of the department.

Positions in this class differ from those in the class of Child Support Specialist II by the assignment of complex, sensitive or confidential cases requiring advanced technical skills. Incumbents may act in a lead capacity, may provide training to lower-level Child Support Specialists and may participate in special projects such as audits and/or quality control reviews.

Prepares and processes legal documents necessary for the Documents and updates customer information, contact information, case actions/history logs, and records using a state-wide automated system.

Provides case status information, explains the complaint resolution process, and answers case specific questions for all involved parties ensuring the verbiage used cannot be interpreted as legal advice.

Applies federal, state, and local codes, procedures, and rules in establishing and processing child support cases.

Coordinates and/or conducts genetic tests when needed.

Performs related duties as assigned.

Evaluates income and expense data of custodial and non-custodial parents to determine and recommend child support payment obligations based on established guidelines.

Participates in interviews to secure support agreements and to persuade responsible parties to make payments without recourse to legal action.

Assists or acts as a primary resource to Child Support Attorney.

Attends court hearings to obtain payments and to testify to financial or case matters.

Provides guidance to Child Support Specialists as a technical expert.

Assigns and coordinates work performed by lower level Child Support Specialists.

Reviews lower level cases for quality control, audit, and/or training purposes.

Researches, develops, and conducts group and/or one-on-one training for new and existing staff.

Acts as the supervisor for administrative purposes in the supervisor's absence.

Uses a variety of methods, systems and procedures for locating absent parents, including contacting other agencies, utilizing databases and web-based searches.

May perform State mandated functions, including but not limited to: ombudsperson, customer and community outreach, quality assurance and program improvement, training, Fair Hearing Officer, and/or media relations.

Performs related duties as assigned.

This position is located in the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency, Behavioral Health Division, Substance Use Disorders Services Unit and provides community outreach advocacy services, presents informational sessions, performs prevention, and outreach for at-risk populations; prepares, researches, and presents health system materials; and performs related duties as assigned. The position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Advises contacts and clients of community resources available for resolution of behavioral health problems; acts as an advocate for individuals to help them understand their rights and advocate for their expressed wants.
• Coordinates and facilitates youth activities and awareness programs; provides safe learning environment for adolescents; drug, alcohol and tobacco prevention programs.
• Works with sub-contractors, consultants and outside community members on various program issues and functions.
• Transports or accompanies clients to appointments for service or interviews.
• May facilitate alcohol and drug group sessions and other counseling activities.

Under the direct supervision, performs a variety of difficult and complex professional officer and field engineering work; prepares plans, designs, and specifications for a variety of the Department of Public Works projects; reviews work prepared by outside consultants; prepares engineering reports; and performs related duties as assigned.

Full Time, Part Time, and/or Remote. Primary duty is to review and comment on plans, specifications, and estimates for capital improvement projects. Projects may include road, bridge, and airport improvements. Must live in California and possess a California Professional Civil Engineer License.

The County of Yuba is recruiting for the position of Social Worker III/III Master’s Level in the Child and Adult Protective Services Division of the Health & Human Services Department in an effort to establish an eligibility list for future vacancies. Under general supervision, incumbents are fully competent to independently perform the most complex and sensitive social services case work by providing a variety of services to County residents; identify, access and document abuse and neglect cases; provide counseling and support services to children and parents; refer clients to services; prepare detailed, complex court documents and testify in court as required; and perform related work as assigned. The work may be related to a specific program area or to more general social service benefit provision. The Social Worker III and the Social Worker III – Master’s Level are the advanced journey-level classes in the general social work series.
