The Redwood City Police Department is currently accepting applications for Per-Diem COMMUNICATIONS DISPATCHERS.  Using a sophisticated Computer Aided Dispatch terminal, the Communications Dispatcher receives emergency calls from within the public requesting police, fire, medical, or other emergency service; determine priority, and dispatch police, fire, ambulance, or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Maintaining contact with all units on assignment and maintaining status and location of police field units and fire units; Monitoring emergency alarm boxes; Coordinating emergency calls and relay information and assistance requests involving other agencies; Entering, updating and retrieving information from networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles and other information. San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC) is seeking an experienced Patient Services Specialist (PSS) - Extra-Help.
 
The successful hire will support the clinical team with all registration, eligibility, enrollment, authorization, other administrative tasks, and Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) activities for SMMC. The PSS serves as the ambassador for SMMC to validate information and educate our patients and guests with the financial process upon arrival to the facility. The PSS verifies all demographic information, validates eligibility, obtain authorizations, collects co-payments, assist with all payor notifications and communication, and enroll patients if needed. The hire will be expected to work holidays and rotating weekends, if needed, to support department needs.
 
The ideal candidate for this position will possess excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex medical terminology and medical insurance requirements to individuals with varying levels of medical knowledge. Additionally, they should have strong skills in conflict resolution and problem-solving.

The ideal candidate will also be able to collaborate effectively with the clinical team, work with challenging patients, and assist those who may have language or communication barriers. This position requires keen attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task. Furthermore, the ideal candidate must be flexible and available for various shifts throughout the week.

NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Qualifications

Knowledge of:

• Medical terminology as related to patient services support work.

Job Description

Under general direction, the Waterfront Property Manager implements programs for management and leasing of Port land and buildings for retail, commercial, office and industrial uses.  Responsibilities include an assignment that focuses   on a combination of property management, leasing and occasional special events coordination.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Ensures lease compliance, regularly inspecting leased areas to determine if property is maintained in accordance with the lease and inspects vacant spaces to determine maintenance and repair needs.
• Negotiates lease, lease renewals, license agreements, Memorandum of Understanding and permits with prospective and current tenants in accordance with established Port policies and practices, legal and regulatory restrictions and market conditions to maximize the potential revenue of the Port.
• Drafts leases, license agreements and other documents in accordance with established policies and practices for the review and approval of Port management and legal counsel.
• Responds to requests from tenants and members of the public for maintenance, repairs, improvements and modifications, establishing cooperative relationships with Port’s neighbors and tenants while protecting the Port’s interests.
• Initiates work requests for repairs and improvements for both leased and unleased property with the Port’s Maintenance Department.

What You’ll Do

The Engineering Technician I/II performs a variety of technical drafting, office and field engineering work. The position receives immediate supervision from higher engineering personnel.

The Engineering Technician I/II position is flexibly staffed based on experience and may be filled at either level. Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Locate utilities, easements, property lines and other information on plans.

Job Description

Under general direction, the Port’s Senior Waterfront Property Manager is responsible for marketing, leasing and managing the Port’s retail, commercial and industrial properties within the parameters of a regulatory environment. The Senior Property Manager is also responsible for carrying out, interpreting and coordinating existing policies, methods and procedures of the Port’s Real Estate & Development Division related to management and leasing of Port real estate.

This is a management level position that requires experienced leadership and hands-on property, asset and facility management and analytic background. This position handles the more complex negotiating/leasing activities, significant property issues and direct supervision of various professional and support staff. This position requires the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to make presentations to a variety of entities such as the Port Commission, Board of Supervisors, community groups and Port senior management.

The essential functions of this position include:

• Conducts market research and applies real estate principles to ensure the maximum economic utilization of Port lands and properties.
• Implement and manage marketing initiatives for vacant properties, including the use of data-driven digital advertising campaigns that target prospective tenants including the cost-effective use of available third-party property leasing applications.
• Develops and executes marketing strategies to support leasing goals, brand awareness, tenant retention and revenue growth across a portfolio of commercial properties, parks and open space
• Oversees design and production of marketing materials (flyers, brochures, signage, newsletters, online presence, etc.)
• Creates and maintains comprehensive property marketing materials, including clear, detailed and accurate property descriptions that include any restricted uses, physical limitations, or regulatory constraints for properties Port wide.
• Maintains and updates Port’s leasing website to ensure accurate and up to date content.
• Regularly reviews and provides written and oral recommendations for updates to leasing policies governing the use of Port property to reflect current market trends, best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Manages and oversees staff responsible for parks, open space and special events.
• Manages and coordinates staff efforts to lease properties and deliver customer service to tenants and stakeholders such as advisory groups and other City departments.
• Supervises the leasing and licensing of Port land and buildings for retail, office, commercial and industrial uses, subject to Port policies and City regulations and other regulatory agencies.
• Negotiates and actualizes complex leases and other tenancy agreements.
• Problem solves by analyzing situations, making recommendations and taking appropriate actions.
• Performs related duties as required.

Qualifications

Education

Possession of bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university; AND

Experience

Five (5) years of verifiable experience in commercial and/or industrial real estate property or asset management which must have included negotiating, drafting, interpreting and administering commercial leases and other rental agreements, overseeing property maintenance, providing customer service and resolving problems between tenants and landlords, preparing original reports and correspondence and dealing directly with the public.

Please Note: Experience limited to apartments, condos, single-family homes or residential property management with retail floor space primarily serving residential tenants, does not meet the qualifications for this role.

License 

Possession of a valid California driver’s license (to be presented at time of appointment).  Employees must be insurable under the Port’s automobile liability insurance.  Insurability must be maintained throughout employment.

Substitution

Education Substitution: Additional qualifying work experience as described above may be substituted for the education requirement on a year-for-year basis, up to two (2) years (One year of work experience is equal to 30 semester units or 45 quarter units).

Experience Substitution: Possession of a master's or doctorate degree from an accredited college or university in real estate, business administration with a finance or real estate concentration, or law degree with a real estate concentration may substitute for one year of the required experience as described above.

Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Card

This position requires that the incumbent be qualified for unescorted access to the Port’s Maritime Transportation System (MTS).  An application for a TWIC card may be submitted after employment has commenced.  Employment in this position requires that the incumbent undergo a criminal history check, immigration check and terrorist threat assessment, including FBI fingerprints, in order to determine eligibility for security clearance.  

The incumbent must submit an application for, successfully acquire and maintain a TWIC card. The City of Pacifica is a beautiful coastal community, just south of San Francisco with an exciting opportunity. We are currently hiring an Engineering Intern to join our team. Under general supervision, the new team member will perform sub-professional engineering work involving manual and computer drafting, traffic data gathering, records management, map interpretation and processing, retrieval of information, assist with field surveys, and to do related work as required. This position will assist the Department of Public Works, Engineering Division.

This is a part-time, at-will, non-benefited position. Hours are limited to less than 1,000 hours per year.

 

The City of San Bruno Fire Department offers an exciting opportunity to serve as a Fire Cadet. Our one-year Fire Cadet program is an unpaid, volunteer work experience program that offers hands-on training, and introductory knowledge of firefighting skills, fire service tools and equipment. Cadets respond to emergency calls, render Basic Life Support and participate in training, and participate in the daily station duties.

 

Cadets must be willing to commit to 24-hour shifts, two to four times per month. The cadet program is one year in length. Upon completion, this program meets the manipulative training and experience requirements in obtaining a California State Fire Marshal’s Office Firefighter II certification.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• State of California EMT or National Registry EMT certification
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a driving record with minimal violations
• Possession of a Firefighter I Academy certification (or proof of “student in good standing” letter signed by an Academy Instructor if currently enrolled)
• 18 years of age at the time of application

What You’ll Do

The Permit Center Supervisor plans, organizes, supervises, coordinates and participates in the work of the Permit Center team assigned to assist customers with successfully interfacing with the City’s planning, building, development, and permit processes. The position also provides technical expertise in building and zoning code administration and the development review processes. Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan, organize, and supervise the work of staff engaged in building permit issuance, development application review, and plan check activities.
• Provide direct oversight of all permit functions including proper coordination of all applications received; manage timely and proper routing of all submittals.
• Ensure that permits for construction and associated fees are processed in a timely manner and in accordance with established procedures, the uniform codes, state laws, and local ordinances governing land use development.
• Select and recommend appointment of personnel, monitor employee performance objectives, prepare and present employee performance reviews; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; establish and communicate Permit Center priorities, goals, and objectives.
• Coordinate activities and development reviews with other City departments and divisions, and with outside agencies as determined necessary.
• Ensure proper input and maintenance of all statistical permit processing data.
• Assist with general updates, maintenance and enhancements related to the City’s permitting software.
• Evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications and establish policy and procedures; prepare various reports on operations and activities.

 

The Permit Center Supervisor receives general direction from the Deputy Building Official or higher level department personnel and exercises direct supervision over technical and support personnel.
