About this role
We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, non-benefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

What You’ll Do

• Greet, acknowledge, and interactive with patrons and sports officials in a friendly and professional manner
• Ensures all game related information are uploaded to website in a timely manner for each game
• Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts
• Ensures use of sport program supplies follows the amount prearranged by the department budget
• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

About the Position

Under general direction, performs professional-level tasks related to municipal planning, zoning, housing, economic development and environmental analysis; researches and analyzes a variety of planning data; prepares various studies and recommendations; prepares and reviews environmental documents; reviews development and subdivision proposals, building plans, permits, and parcel maps; works with developers, architects, attorneys, and the public regarding City standards and policies; may serve as staff to various Commissions and/or committees; and does related work as required.

This classification is a journey level class in the professional planning series.  With the requisite experience, the incumbent can independently assume responsibility for more complex projects and specialized assignments. This position differs from the Assistant Planner position by increased responsibility for project management.

General direction is received from the Planning Manager overseeing the Advance Planning Division. Direct supervision and supervision through secondary managers may be provided with specific project assignments in the Community Development Department. Responsibilities may include functional supervision of subordinate staff.

Essential Duties

• Conducts assigned planning projects involving long-range planning, land use, populations, structures, economic activities, housing, transportation, environmental and related subjects; conducts research, and confers with community members, interested parties, and agency representatives to identify problems and opportunities.
• Analyzes data with respect to relevant laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; determines methods for compliance with local and state law.
• Prepares professional staff reports of summarized data, conclusions and recommendations; makes oral presentations to the public and elected and appointed decision makers.
• Conducts review of planning applications; coordinates review with various City and outside agencies; may lead a team on complex implementation of long range planning projects; responds to inquiries both orally and in writing; interprets planning policies, state laws and local ordinances, within established parameters; explains City procedures in person, over the phone and in writing.
• Drafts resolutions, findings, ordinances and amendments to them, and California Environmental Quality Act documents.
• Prepares and oversees the preparation of graphs, charts and other displays.
• Provides information on city, regional and state environmental, zoning, and subdivision requirements to consultants, developers, property owners and the general public.
• Works extensively on the computer to manage work programs, produce written documents, prepare maps and graphics, analyze data, create graphics, research on the Internet, and communicate with others through e-mail.
• May administer contracts and oversee the work of consultants.
• May provide staff support to city agencies, commissions or ad-hoc advisory groups.

Facilities Maintenance Technician II (journey-level class in the classification series)

Responsible for performing the full range of maintenance duties at City buildings and facilities in order to ensure that all are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for City and public use. Incumbents are responsible for performing maintenance and alterations on buildings and facilities, electrical and mechanical systems, identifying and evaluating construction-related problems, and performing installation and repairs on plumbing systems. Incumbents are expected to work independently and exercise judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional supervision of lower level maintenance staff and is capable of performing the most complex duties assigned to the series.

Senior Facilities Maintenance Technician (advanced journey-level class in the classification series)

Responsible for providing lead supervision and training to facilities maintenance staff. Incumbents regularly work on tasks that are varied and complex, requiring considerable discretion and independent judgment, including performing the most complex duties required to ensure City buildings, facilities, and grounds are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include training, developing and scheduling Facilities Maintenance Technicians, inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of City buildings, facilities and grounds. Positions in this classification rely on experience and judgment to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the assigned section. The work involves problem-solving of unique issues or increasingly complex problems without precedent and/or structure. Assignments are given with general guidelines and incumbents are responsible for establishing objectives, timelines, and methods to deliver work products.

Positions in the Facilities Maintenance Technician class series are flexibly staffed and positions are normally filled by advancement from the previous level; progression to the next level is subject to management approval and is dependent on the incumbent (i) performing the full range of duties assigned to their current level, and (ii) acquiring the knowledge, skill, and experience necessary to meet the minimum qualifications for the next level of the series.

What You'll Do

This is a journey-level electrician classification that works independently with minimal supervision completing a variety of skilled electrician tasks. This position performs a variety of complex and skilled work in electrical operations, maintenance, alteration and repair of electrical systems and equipment; installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs street lighting, traffic control devices and pump station electrical components; locates, tests and repairs malfunctions of sanitary and storm pumping stations, underground cables and other electrical systems and equipment. THE POSITION: Under close supervision, perform unskilled manual and semi-skilled manual park maintenance work, and perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Cleaning restrooms, emptying garbage cans
• Removing weeds and trash from parks
• Assist in mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, and seeding
• Perform a wide variety of general grounds and facility maintenance work including raking leaves, cleaning walkways, removing debris, cleaning restrooms, and related work.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent should have the ability to read, write, and carry out oral and written directions, maintain cooperative work relationships, and operate various park maintenance equipment. Individuals must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record (recent DMV printout required). This is seasonal work which will include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the department.
