Our five all-day summer camps run from June 16 to August 15, with staff training beginning June 9. Serving children ages 4-12 at multiple locations, these positions serve as role models to youth campers throughout the Conejo Valley, leading arts and crafts, recreation games, swimming, hiking and more!

The City of Simi Valley is looking for a dedicated, service-oriented, collaborative team leader in the Sanitation Services Division of the Public Works Department. The Plant Operations Supervisor leads and supervises Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations and is responsible for assigning and performing routine and complex work assignments. Summary
Under general supervision, performs a variety of complex skilled irrigation, grounds mainten­ance and landscape tasks in accordance with District policies and procedures; works indepen­dently and exercises judgment; ensures daily workload is carried out through individual and cooperative efforts; performs preventive maintenance of District-owned properties; and performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Performs a variety of technical duties to ensure accurate and timely data entry and processing of various financial records; documents financial transactions in general ledger accounts; reconciles bank, accounting and payroll data; analyzes journal

POSITION SUMMARY

The Wildfire Resilience Coordinator will manage projects related to the overall MRCA efforts regarding wildfire resilience, including tracking and analyzing existing funding sources related to wildfire preparedness and response, supporting staff project as defined by the early action wildfire resilience plan, coordinating with other MRCA and SMMC staff members working on wildfire related projects and programs, preparing and documenting further regional needs.

 

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starting individual who can handle an array of tasks at the same time as part of standard workload, has good judgment and can make decisions, and works well independently and as part of a small team.

 

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non­profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for wildfire resilience including improvements, workforce development, ignition prevention and suppression, inspection and monitoring and structure hardening and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development. Special projects assigned or led by the Chief of Staff will be supported by this position.

• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for wildfire resilience and workforce development related planning efforts.
• Cooperate with other team members to accomplish project goals; provide support to coworkers on other projects.

Physical Demands

Required Hours and Location

This position is seasonal with an assigned 10-hour shift on Fridays and optional 10-hour shifts on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday as needed.  This position will terminate at or before 900 hours and is intended to run concurrently with the Background Investigation and Hiring process for Ranger Trainee, for Seasonal Ranger Assistants who communicate an interest in doing so within the introductory period of the season. Must be available to work at various locations.

 

Public Contact

As public parklands, the majority of MRCA properties are open to the general public during operating hours. This position will have contact with members of the public in public areas such as parking lots and shared public/office restrooms, and during public meetings.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• One (1) year of experience in customer service, law enforcement, parking enforcement, EMS, or other related field is recommended for appointment.

Training and Certification

• Certificate in First Aid/CPR for the professional rescuer or equivalent, or ability to attain upon employment.

 

Knowledge of or ability to learn: 

• Common Windows-based programs including Office 365, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
