The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a Senior Purchasing Specialist to join our team!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, service-oriented team player who thrives in a busy, fast-paced environment. As part of the Finance Department’s Purchasing Team, the Senior Purchasing Specialist will perform a variety of functions in supporting the City’s purchasing policies and processes.

 Primary responsibilities:

• Receives, examines, analyzes, and processes purchase requisitions and purchase orders according to City and department policies and procedures; ensures that information is correct and documentation is complete; corrects errors as necessary
• Reviews formal solicitations such as bids and requests for proposals/qualifications (RFP/Q) and posts formal solicitations on City’s procurement portal
• Reviews and facilitates informal solicitations for departments
• Trains City staff on purchasing policies and processes
• Oversees the maintenance of solicitation records, commodity/sub-commodity lists, and other purchasing and inventory files
• Negotiates, manages, and monitors Citywide contracts
• Oversees the maintenance and validation of vendor account information

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity!  We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Administrative Specialist to perform a wide range of office and administrative support functions. The ideal candidate will be a team player, a self-starter, and take a proactive and solution-oriented approach in support of day-to-day department operations. 

We have an immediate opening for an Administrative Specialist position in the Public Works Department.  This position, which requires strong customer service and multi-tasking skills, will work a 9/80 schedule.

Primary responsibilities:

• Performs a wide variety of complex, sensitive, highly responsible, and confidential office administrative, secretarial, advanced clerical, and support functions
• Creates, formats, proofreads, and edits a variety of departmental documents and correspondence, such as reports, memoranda, letters, technical materials, agreements/contracts, change orders, task orders, and amendments
• Organizes and maintains accurate and up-to-date records and files in accordance with the City’s records management program
• Maintains calendars and meeting schedules, coordinates travel logistics, and processes and reconciles credit card transactions and expense reports
• Serves as liaison between the department and the public, City staff, other City agencies, and outside groups
• Maintains content on department webpage
• Participates in the collection, compilation, and analysis of information from various sources on a variety of topics, e.g., vendor quotes, certificates of insurance, etc.
• Provides general administrative and office support for the department, including processing invoices for payment, preparing pay requests, assisting with employee time-keeping submissions and records, handling petty cash, ordering office supplies, preparing meeting materials, room reservations, and set up as needed
• Communicates with and responds to customer questions and inquiries in person, via e-mail, telephone, and the City's web-based communication system

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for a motivated team player to provide analytical, technical assistance, planning, and project-level support to administer and enforce the City’s Cross Connection Control Program.  Additional responsibilities may include assistance with regulation tracking and reporting, and provide a variety of other programmatic support related to the City’s drinking water and pretreatment (wastewater) programs.

Under the direction of the Water Quality Supervisor in the Environmental Compliance Division, the Assistant/Associate Environmental Compliance Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in protecting the City’s drinking water supply. This position is primarily responsible for developing and administering the City’s Cross Connection Control Program while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

We are seeking a collaborative self-starter to handle a range of responsibilities with competence and professionalism. The Analyst should demonstrate discretion and independent judgment, possess strong organizational skills, and have a proven ability to meet strict deadlines. The role requires handling sensitive issues with care and having excellent communication and interpersonal skills while working with the public, regulators, other City departments and other municipal agencies.

With additional experience, the Analyst may also provide analytic, technical, programmatic, and administrative support to a broader range of responsibilities within the Environmental Compliance Division, including other drinking water-related regulations, stormwater quality compliance and wastewater pretreatment.

The position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Analyst level, depending on relevant prior education and work experience.

Primary responsibilities:   

• Implementing the City’s Cross Connection Control program and assist with the day-to-day operations and activities of the Environmental Compliance Division
• Conduct Cross Connection Control program field inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential facilities for Hazard Assessments
• Maintain, review and update related databases
• Review construction and plumbing plans for compliance; identify potential contamination risks
•  Enforce corrective actions with residents, business owners, and stakeholders
• Analyze and provide recommendations for updates to program-related municipal code

• Keep current with evolving regulations and industry best practices
• Prepare and present technical staff reports for the Public Works Department, City Council, and other stakeholders

The City of Simi Valley is seeking a qualified Senior Engineer to join its team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for civil engineers looking for variety, challenge, and meaningful work in public infrastructure.

The Senior Engineer will be responsible for managing complex capital improvement projects, conducting hydraulic studies, and performing advanced technical engineering tasks related to the planning, design, and construction of waterworks facilities. Key responsibilities include preparing plans, specifications, and cost estimates for a range of water infrastructure and public works projects, such as:

• Water main line replacements

• Water tank rehabilitation and replacement

• Pump station upgrades

The Senior Engineer works under the general supervision of a higher-level professional engineer and provides lead supervision to assigned engineering staff, ensuring quality, compliance, and timely delivery of projects.
