The City of Patterson is seeking to fill several part-time Recreation Leader positions in the Recreation Department for their Summer program.  Duties include, but are not limited to: officiate youth sports, score keep, and field preparation; interact with coaches, parents, and children ages 5-18; organize and teach participants special interest classes such as dance, music, arts & crafts, etc. and with assistance coordinate, schedule, and plan the programs; ensures participant safety and well being during all activities; ensures the proper handling of first aid and emergency situations.

The City of Patterson is currently recruiting to fill several part-time vacancies for Lifeguard with the Recreation & Community Services Department for their Summer program and to establish an Eligibility List.

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor and the Pool Managers, the Lifeguard will be responsible for the safety of the patrons at the Patterson Aquatics Center.  The Lifeguard must remain alert and knowledgeable as well as physically fit.  Duties include, but are not limited to: maintain the office, answer phones, maintain correspondence with the public and respond to all inquiries, be generally available to answer and refer patrons to resources within the community; teach swim lessons; enforce all aquatic facility policies, rules, and regulations; recognize and respond effectively in emergencies; complete additional duties as assigned by supervisor.  All Lifeguards are responsible for keeping the facilities clean and safe for all patrons.

This position is established for 19 hours a week, but will vary depending on programming needs, and will be working weekdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Account Clerk I - This is the entry-level class in the Account Clerk series performing the more routine and less complex clerical accounting support and customer service assignments while learning City policies and procedures. Positions at this level are not expected to function with the same amount of program knowledge or skill level as positions allocated to the Account Clerk II level and exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. This classification is flexibly staffed with Account Clerk II. Account Clerk II - This is the full journey level class within the Account Clerk series. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. Positions in this class series are flexibly staffed and are generally filled by advancement from the “I” level, or when filled from the outside, require prior experience. This is the advanced journey level in the professional planning class series. DESCRIPTION 

We are seeking a collaborative, service-oriented individual to conduct a variety of code compliance duties with competence and professionalism. The Code Compliance Officer I/II will be responsible for conducting inspections and investigations pertaining to violations of the municipal code provisions in zoning ordinances, sanitary regulations, business license regulations, building standards and nuisance abatement ordinances.  The Code Compliance Officer I/II must possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, be self-directed, exercise discretion, and excellent judgment.

                             POSITION DETAILS:

• Salary range: $36.49 - $46.69 with Excellent Benefits 
  • 3% Cost of Living adjustment increase effective 7/13/26
    • Generally, salary placement is at the beginning of the salary range
    • Advanced placement may be granted depending on related education and experience
• Regular, Part-Time position - 30 hours/week
• Must be willing to work varied hours, including weekends, holidays, and/or evenings 

                      MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in business administration, transportation planning or a related field.

Experience:

                             IDEAL CANDIDATE:

The ideal candidate will possess:

• Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate transit operations staff
• knowledge of fixed‑route and paratransit operations, including ADA requirements and industry best practices
• Experience in resolving customer complaints and service issues with professionalism, empathy, and sound judgment
• Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations governing public transit, including DMV commercial licensing and safety mandates
• Ability to investigate operational issues, analyze data, and recommend improvements to enhance service reliability and efficiency
• Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with operators, supervisors, contractors, and members of the public
• Ability to manage schedules, maintain accurate records, process time sheets, oversee ADA certifications, and handle operational documentation
• Experience coordinating vehicle maintenance needs and working closely with fleet or maintenance teams
• Confidence operating or overseeing commercial passenger vehicles and ensuring compliance with safety standards
• A customer‑focused mindset and dedication to providing safe, reliable, and accessible transportation services to the community
