Position Summary

 

This position demands a wide range of technical skills. Under the direction of the Communications Electronics Supervisor, this position provides technical support for the communications, access control, video and electronics control system in place throughout the District. The Communications Electronics Technician installs, maintains, test and repairs electronics communications system located at various District facilities from San Francisco to Santa Rosa. These include, but is not limited to, P25 trunked radio system, microwave equipment, video cameras and management system, access control system, programmable logic controllers, fiber optics and network communications equipment. The position is also involved in the installation and maintenance of communication and fiber optic cabling systems. 

 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Installs and maintains the following: P25 trunked radio system, access control system, video management system, programmable logic controllers and associated controls, microwave equipment, public address systems, telephone lines and fiber optic cables
• Installs, tests, and maintains electronic and two-way radio equipment in Buses, Ferries, District vehicles and facilities, and radio sites
• Setups and services access control system, including card readers, electromechanical locks, gate controllers and associated software
• Installs and maintains video surveillance system, including cameras, servers and management software
• Installs and maintains different computer aided equipment such as radio dispatch consoles, access control monitoring, video management system, & distributed control system for PLC
• Tests, troubleshoots and repairs fiber optic using OTDR and splice equipment
• Installs, configures and maintains servers, database and network equipment such as routers and switches
• Performs regular, preventive maintenance and documents system and equipment repairs, modifications and changes
• Assists in the design, fabrication and modification of electronics communications equipment
• Updates and corrects manufacturers' documentation to increase maintenance and repair efficiency
• Knows and follows the safety and health rules and safe working practices applicable job
• Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with District employees, customers, vendors and all others contacted during the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
• Performs additional related duties as assigned
• Regular and reliable attendance and performance is required

 

Minimum Qualifications

 

Education and/or Experience: 

• Associate’s degree in Electronics, Communications Technology or completion of electronics, communications technology certification program 
• Minimum of four years of experience as Communications Electronic Technician working with P25 radio system, access control, video surveillance, PLCs and similar technologies 
• FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL) license preferred

 

Required License: 

Must possess and maintain a current and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be available for emergency repair call backs. Must be able to work outside in inclement weather. Able to lift up to 50 lbs. Able to climb towers, bridge main cables, radio antenna towers and structural steel. Must be able to bend and crawl in small areas to install security equipment requiring bending and reaching. Put arms, hands, and fingers into narrow openings. Exposure to exhaust fumes, noise, and sharp edges. May encounter reptiles, spiders and venomous species at remote radio sites.

 

This position may have a potential for or actual exposure to lead. Pursuant to OSHA regulations, District employees are not exposed to lead at concentrations greater than 10 micrograms per cubic meter (µg/m3) of air averaged over an 8-hour period.

 

Hours of Operation:

Monday - Friday, subject to 24-hour call back and monthly rotational on-calls. Must go to all District locations, including Bridge Towers, Bus Depot, Ferry Piers, remote mountain tops, etc.

 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of: 

• Occupational health and safety rules and working practices applicable to this position
• P25 trunking system, simulcast and multicast system, site trunking and Failsoft modes, microwave digital modulation theory and techniques, telecommunication theory, computer aided dispatch systems, voice logging recorders
• Access Control System (card readers, electromechanical locks, gate controllers and associated software) 
• Video Management System (cameras, storage servers and management software)
• Programmable Logic Controllers (system automation software and hardware e.g., Opto22)
• Fiber Optic termination and connections
• IP based networking principles, VLANs and routing protocols
• Tools, equipment and methods of electronic technology
• Installation and wiring methods of mobile and fixed site communications equipment, telephone, data communications systems
   

Ability to or Skill in:

• Carry out verbal and written instructions

• Proficient in use of computer workstation and laptop PCs for testing, diagnostics, and programming telecommunications equipment

San Mateo County Health's Public Health Policy & Planning (PHPP) Division has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Veterinarian to work in Animal Control and Licensing as a member of the team.
 
The current vacancy is extra help part time 20-hours per week in the Public Health, Policy and Planning Division. The position is stationed in San Mateo, CA, but will travel/drive throughout the County to perform duties of the position.
 
Scheduling is flexible. Daily reporting hours and days of the week may vary according to the needs of the department. Evening and weekend work may be required based on the needs of the organization. This position is a hybrid of remote work as well as field-based at clinics.
 
The Veterinary Wellness Program provides veterinary services to the pets of the unhoused, those in transitional housing, and very low-income San Mateo County residents who are receiving services from San Mateo County. This position works with San Mateo County Health and cross collaborates with other programs within the County. Technical expertise, as well as knowledge of veterinary public health practices, are preferred.
 
San Mateo County is unique in that most of our homeless shelters allow residents to bring their pets with them, not just an emotional support or service animal. One of the barriers for homeless people to get into a shelter with their pets is that their pet must be current on their vaccinations. Within 10 days of a new resident moving into a shelter with a pet, the County veterinarian will meet with the owner and their pet to provide a general exam, the necessary vaccinations and flea control. This position will visit various sites throughout the County on a regular basis, providing vaccines, flea control, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, and general exams. In addition, the Veterinarian will travel to various homeless encampments to provide these services and to offer and encourage spaying and neutering of the pets.
 
When pets need additional care, this position will coordinate with local veterinary clinics we contract with for services. These contracts allow us to provide spay and neuter services, dental services, and many other procedures that the pet owner would not otherwise be able to afford. These vital veterinary services keep pets from being relinquished to animal shelters and provides peace of mind for the pet owner. In addition, our veterinary program partners with our Street Medicine Program to provide health care services to the pet owners, which advances San Mateo County’s One Health Concept.
 
This Veterinarian position will be providing technical/subject matter expertise on issues relating to the spread of zoonotic, epizootic, and exotic diseases, as well as consulting on cases of rabies in domestic and wild animals. The position will also act as a liaison between the veterinary community, Veterinary Public Health, California Department of Public Health, and residents of the County.
 
Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Provide lead direction to staff responsible for following prescribed treatment and maintaining treatment records for animals treated.
• Ensure that the highest level of service and care are provided and that changes in animals’ conditions are recorded and properly addressed.
• Examine and evaluate animals, and perform veterinary medical treatments, including vaccinations and preventative treatment as appropriate. 
• Coordinate with local veterinarians and clinic/shelter professionals to arrange spay and neuter surgeries and medical procedures.
• Arrange for care at a contracted veterinary hospital for severely injured, sick or diseased animals and provides full orders for care.
• Establishes and maintains medical records and drug use logs to standards of veterinary practices.
• Ensure that records are in order and complete and prepare written reports as needed; ensures that all State and Federal laws, regulations, accepted standards, are adhered to. 
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of shelter animal health protocols, surgical procedures, and companion animal health issues.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with the staff, community, local veterinarians, State Veterinarian. 
• Assist in the monitoring of inventory and ordering of medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
• Serve as technical/subject matter expert to answer questions from the County Health Officer, medical community and the general public regarding issues related to/involving animals—including but not limited to researching, recommending, implementing and/or maintaining measures to prevent the spread of zoonotic diseases, epizootic diseases, exotic diseases and disease outbreaks. 
• Serve as a consultant in suspect cases of rabies in domestic and wild animals as well as complex issues deriving from animal bites.
• Review pertinent legislation, regulations, and policies to provide recommendations, especially with regards to vaccination of domestic animals, rabies vaccine exemptions, quarantine/euthanasia of animals exposed to rabies.
• Disseminate relevant information to the local veterinary community as well as to residents of the county. 
• Assist with emergencies and disaster services.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 
Ideal candidate will possess:
•       Experience working one – two years as a Veterinarian.

• Experience in diagnosing and treating disease, illness, and injuries of dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals. 
• Ability to test animals for disease and administer vaccines.
• Ability to evaluate condition and coordinate maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Ability to help ensure the safe storage, access, and use of medications.
• Ability to develop and provide guidance on sanitary protocols, feeding, preventative medicine, and general care to promote the health of all animals.
• Ability to research and prepare medical reports for guidance of management upon request.
• Ability to write grant proposals for funding.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and residents of the community.
• Attend meetings and other meetings as requested or required.
• Obtain continuing education as required and be committed to staying up-to-date technically with industry best practices and applying learned knowledge.
• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with partner and contract providers.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Extra-help hours are dependent on the business needs of the department and therefore work hours may vary from week to week. Extra help employees shall not exceed 1,040 hours of work per fiscal year. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra help employees are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the assignment.

 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification:

• Veterinarian license to practice in the State of California
• California class C driver license or equivalent. Must possess and maintain a good driving record.

About The Position

Each day, Deputy Probation Officers (DPOs) have the opportunity to contribute to community safety by actively engaging with at-risk youth and adults. DPOs work in close cooperation with the County's criminal justice system and partner with Community Based Organizations to offer guidance and support to the population we serve.

 

Deputy Probation Officer II is the journey level class of this series. Under direction, incumbents independently perform a variety of complex assignments primarily in the areas of intake, investigation, or supervision. This class is distinguished from Deputy Probation Officer III in that the latter has acquired greater work experience and technical competence and handles the exceptionally difficult cases requiring a high level of intensive probation casework. The III level may also mentor or train other staff in areas in which they possess expertise, provide lead direction or substitute for the supervisor on a short-term basis.

 

Successful candidates must have two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer AND have successfully completed a California POST OR STC-certified P.C. 832 Arrest and Control course AND a STC-certified Probation Officer Core course to qualify.

 

IMPORTANT: Individuals who are not currently employed full-time as a Deputy Probation Officer but have a minimum of two years of full-time experience in a California County Probation Department should not have a separation date greater than six months from the date of application.

 

To qualify for this position, you must possess all of the following:

• Two years of full-time (2080 hours) experience working in a California County Probation Department as a Deputy Probation Officer.
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.
• *Completion of a certified California POST or STC approved P.C. 832 Arrest and Control course.
• *Completion of a certified Probation Officer Core training course as prescribed by the California Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC).

As a Deputy Probation Officer, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

• Interview adults or juveniles, their families, and other relevant individuals to assess the nature of their marital, domestic, employment, financial, environmental, or other challenges.
• Formulate probation plans and present recommendations to supervisors and the court.
• Set up and recommend payment schedules for restitution and fines; evaluate restitution claims submitted by victims and assess the probationer's ability to pay.
• Explain procedures, rights, and responsibilities to probationers.
• Inform juveniles, adults, or their families of available community resources.
• Propose alternative probation plans as needed.
• Obtain releases for medical, psychiatric, or other necessary information about probationers.
• Supervise the welfare and conduct of adults on probation and juveniles under the jurisdiction of the Juvenile Court, assisting them in complying with court orders.
• Identify treatment, educational, employment, or other programs required by probationers; make referrals and follow up to verify and evaluate services received.
• Take necessary legal actions to report non-compliance with court orders.
• Initiate court processes when probationers violate probation terms.
• Consult with professionals in law enforcement, medicine, religion, law, and mental health.
• Collaborate with state and local welfare, school, and law enforcement agencies.
• Stay informed of departmental policies and procedures.
• Maintain records and prepare reports.
• Participate in mandatory training programs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

Experience:

Two years of experience performing duties comparable to those of an entry level Deputy Probation Officer I in San Mateo County.

 

Education:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. A degree in sociology, psychology, corrections, criminal justice, counseling or a closely related social or behavioral science is preferred.

 

Licensure/Certification:

• Possession of a class C California driver license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

• Must be at least 21 years of age on or before date of appointment.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States by federal law.
• Must not have been convicted of a felony.
• Must successfully pass a background investigation prior to employment.

QUALIFICATIONS  
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid (Lifeguard).  

 

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

 

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Pool Managers, Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring aquatic safety and providing instruction for pool patrons.  Swim Instructors/Lifeguards must enjoy working with children and the general public, be patient, reliable and have lots of energy.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES 
Job duties include lifeguarding, swim lesson instruction, leading pool programming, mandatory staff training, pulling tarps, required daily fitness swims, and administrative duties, including some weekend shifts.  Also: 

• Provide aquatic safety and instruction for pool patrons.

QUALIFICATIONS 
Applicants must be at least 17 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week: American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and it is preferable to have a Water Safety Instructor certificate as well. Senior Guards must have at least two years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience; leadership experience is highly desired.

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista High School Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

 

SUPERVISION

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Program Coordinator, Pool Managers are responsible for the day to day operations of the summer aquatics program.   

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Position Summary

Under general direction of the Secretary of the District, performs complex and highly analytical work for the Secretary of the District, members of the Board of Directors and associated committees.   Departmental lead on government tort claims, legal documents and communications and participating in complex, sensitive, and detailed analytical work in the areas of budgets, historical preservation and economic, regulatory and administrative policy. Provides internal customer service by assisting managers and executive level staff in complex analysis.  This position requires a high degree of accuracy, discretion, confidentiality, excellent communication skills, and robust customer service skills. 
 

Essential Responsibilities

 

• Serves as the primary analytical support to the District Secretary;
• Interprets meeting proceedings and prepares draft meeting minutes, with minimal oversight and as assigned, may attend meetings in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs legal functions of the office and guidance to office staff in the absence of the District Secretary;
• Performs a wide variety of complex legal analysis, research and briefings about claims for the District, Bridge, Bus and Ferry Divisions, and works with legal counsel in the areas such as government tort claims, subpoenas, Brady requests, small claims and lawsuits;
• Provides a wide variety of complex, confidential analytical duties in support of the District Secretary, Board of Directors, and standing Board committees;
• Independently composes, researches, compiles, summarizes, and prepares a variety of complex correspondence, reports and documents; reviews finished materials for completeness and accuracy; ensures documents comply with District standards, policies and procedures;
• Perform special studies for the District, and coordinates assigned activities with other District departments, and divisions, and outside entities;
• Independently responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints;
• Coordinates and assists in the development of the annual budgets of the Board and District Secretary’s Office and monitors, reviews and approves department expenditures, and performs financial analysis for budgetary purposes;
• Assists the District Secretary with providing direct support in varied, analytical administrative projects related to the Board and its committees;
• Independently prepares and presents a variety of oral and written reports, correspondence, and statistical analyses with extreme attention to detail and accuracy;
• Works with Procurement to select vendors and purchase department services as needed for projects, and participates on panels for various District procurements especially those related to the District’s third party administrators for public liability and workers compensation, insurance advisors and e-document conversion;
• Has an in-depth understanding of the department’s functions and especially its role with the Board of Directors such as the steps involved in planning and executing Board events and maintaining key Board documents such as Rules of the Board, Master Ordinance and record of the Board’s proceedings;
• Autonomously draft client correspondence and legal documents, using proper format and appropriate language and content;
• Oversees newspaper advertisements for public hearings/meetings;
• Monitors activities and ensures maintenance of files related to insurance and accident claim matters to fulfill department records retention schedule;
• Engages with a wide variety of District representatives including the Board of Directors, Executive Team, mid-managers and staff in a wide variety of roles including those engaged in specialized trades;
• Performs additional related duties as assigned; and
• Regular and reliable performance and attendance is required.

 

The Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District is seeking for a dynamic and action-oriented Director of Tolls and Revenue Operations who will be responsible in leading the electronic revenue programs for the District that include the All Electronic Tolling (AET) program, Fastrak, Clipper, and parking program through technical enhancements, policies, contract negotiations, and representation of these programs on behalf of the District.

Education and/or Experience:

A combination of college level training and position related experience equivalent to:

Four-year degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university. A minimum of seven (7) years of progressive supervisory experience in the field which includes position related experience in revenue programs, contract review and administration, project management and relevant legislative/administrative policy analysis. Possession of a Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Public or Business Administration or related field from an accredited college or university is highly desirable.

 

Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Senior Information Systems Manager, this position provides system support during implementation and ongoing support after implementation including report writing, configuration, routine inquiries and user support for the District’s various enterprise technology systems including UKG Pro Workforce Management Time & Attendance and Central Square Technologies Finance Enterprise.   The Business Information Systems Engineer works with end-users, vendors, and members of the Information Systems Department to identify, analyze, and resolve systems issues and provide maximum capability and satisfaction to users.

Essential Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical lead of the enterprise application
• Focused on delivering excellent customer service
• Adhere to incident, problem, change management, and other Information Systems best practices
• Plan, organize, direct and coordinate the ongoing automation and usage of the district-wide application systems
• Develop and maintain user and technical knowledge of application systems
• Serve as the liaison between application system users, vendor provided help desk as well as the Information Systems Department
• Plan, co-ordinate and test system upgrades
• Fulfill users various data mining requests
• Support the various large interface integrations between the application systems and fixing data problems that occur in these interfaces
• Develop and provide user training for all modules of the systems
• Writes user documentation, provides user information, procedures, and training materials in a variety of formats as needed
• Develops a knowledge base of problem symptoms and solutions to improve the timeliness of problem resolution
• Identify unused system functionality and present opportunities for improvement of business processes using this functionality
• Continue to monitor and stay current on new features contained in new releases of the software
• Recommend and implement software upgrade paths
• Develop relationships with other agency users of the applications
• Maintains strong technical competence in Microsoft Office products such as Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, Project, and PowerPoint
• Other duties as assigned at the direction of the Information Systems Manager
