ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Housing Coordinator supports the Housing and Community Development division by assisting in the formulation and implementation of the City’s affordable housing policies and programs. This position monitors the City’s inventory of affordable housing units for compliance with the applicable deed restrictions or affordability covenants, assists developers in complying with the City’s Affordable Housing Ordinance, and coordinates the funding processes for the City’s affordable housing funds. The Housing Coordinator stays current with local, state and federal housing laws and helps advance the various affordable housing policies and programs in the City’s Housing Element. This may include drafting funding agreements, reviewing scopes of work for housing rehabilitation projects, and income verification of applicants for affordable housing programs.

DEFINITION

Under the direction of the Housing and Community Development Manager, the position is responsible for the development, coordination and oversight of the City’s housing policies and programs to meet the City’s long and short-term housing goals and objectives.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Identify and work with for-profit and non-profit housing development organizations in developing affordable housing projects; negotiate and monitor contracts; develop and evaluate RFP’s relating to affordable housing development; assist in developing new housing assistance programs, new housing development projects, criteria for new construction programs, and in negotiating lending agreements and contracts with financial institutions for housing programs; work on site acquisition for housing programs. Additional duties are to analyze housing project development Pro Forma; maintain a liaison relationship with the County, the State and Federal Agencies which administer housing programs; provide assistance to those individuals seeking housing assistance; monitor compliance of affordable housing projects; prepare and maintain the HUD Consolidated Plan and Annual Performance Reports; and, assist with the compiling of the Housing Element; and, performs related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: Real Estate lending practices and underwriting standards, and housing development finance; as well as, knowledge and experience with housing funds and HUD’s Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME programs along with laws, regulations and funding requirements relating to State and Federal assisted housing programs.

Ability to: Prepare clear and concise written reports and recommendations, both written and oral, to the City Council, Daly City Housing Development Finance Agency, and at public meetings; maintain effective working relationships with City Council members, City Staff, the real estate development community, non-profit organizations, civic groups and the general public. Additionally, be sensitive to the housing needs of the City’s
lower-income residents, and translate knowledge into policy options for City Council and Housing Development Finance Agency programs. Interact positively and cooperate with co-workers, respond politely to customers, work as a team member, function under demanding time pressure, respond in a positive manner to supervision, and attend work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Economics, Planning, Sociology or a related field. A Master’s degree is highly desirable.

Experience: Three years of increasingly responsible experience with housing programs, construction industry, financial institutions, real estate and local agencies is required.

License: Possession of a valid California Class C California Drivers License.

Maintenance Worker I

This is the entry-level class in the Maintenance Worker series. Initially under close supervision, incumbents with basic maintenance experience learn City infrastructure, systems, grounds, parks, facilities, use of tools and equipment, and a wide variety of practices and procedures. Positions at this level usually perform most of the duties required of the positions at the II level, but are not expected to function at the same skill level and usually exercise less independent discretion and judgment in matters related to work procedures and methods. Work is usually supervised while in progress and fits an established structure or pattern. Exceptions or changes in procedures are explained in detail as they arise. As experience is gained, assignments become more varied and are performed with greater independence.

Maintenance Worker II

This is the journey-level class in the Maintenance Worker series responsible for performing the full range of duties required to ensure that City infrastructure, grounds, parks, and facilities to which assigned, are maintained in a safe and effective working condition and provide the highest level of safety for public use. Responsibilities include inspecting and attending to assigned areas in a timely manner, and performing a wide variety of tasks in the maintenance and repair of assigned areas. Positions at this level are distinguished from the level I by the performance of the full range of duties as assigned, working independently and exercising judgment and initiative. Positions at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit. This class is distinguished from the Senior Maintenance Worker in that the latter is responsible for technical and functional supervision of lower-level maintenance staff and performs the most complex duties assigned to the series.

ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Circulation Manager leads the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the Library’s Circulation Services. As a member of the Library’s management team, this role is instrumental in maintaining efficient, patron-centered service. Key responsibilities include overseeing circulation operations at the Serramonte Main Library: supervising and supporting staff, managing schedules, and ensuring a high standard of customer service. The Circulation Manager also collaborates with managers across all four Daly City library locations, contributes to committee work, supports program planning and implementation related to circulation services, and completes special projects as assigned.

DEFINITION

Under the general supervision of a Librarian II, Librarian III or Library Services Manager, this position is responsible for coordinating a library program area such as Circulation, Programming, Outreach and Marketing, or Technology Support and Training.  This is the highest level of the Library Assistant series and is distinguished from the next lower class by the higher level of responsibility, including coordinating services system-wide and training and supervising staff. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Plan and coordinate the operation of the circulation desk; perform circulation desk duties including checking materials in and out as necessary; train and supervise Library Assistants, Aides, and Pages; assist in the formulating and enforcing local library policies and procedures; may represent the City library on committees dealing with procedures for conducting cooperative library activities throughout the County; maintain the currency of policy and procedure manuals for both intra-library and inter-library activities; assure that subordinate staff operate in accordance with current policies and procedures; schedule work and maintain adequate staffing level; compile weekly timesheets and certify their accuracy; monitor job performance and prepare written evaluations; interpret library policy to patrons and subordinates; assist library patrons in locating and using library materials; answer basic reference questions referring higher level or more complicated questions to appropriate staff; identify and correct operational problems; resolve patron complaints or disputes; report in a timely fashion when problems with equipment or physical plant occur; plan and host library events; promote the library at public events; design promotional materials; plan and implement the maintenance of library computers and other technology; coordinate with third-party vendors, City, and Peninsula Library System information systems staff; troubleshoot technology malfunctions; plan and provide training on the use of technology to staff and patrons; and other related duties as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The Role:

The City of Redwood City is seeking Firefighter Trainees who, under immediate supervision, actively participate in the Firefighter Academy training program. Trainees perform all related learning and testing activities in preparation for the Firefighter/Engineer classification within the Fire Department of the City of Redwood City. Upon successful completion of the Firefighter Academy training program and Field Training Orientation (FTO/Apprentice), incumbents of this non-sworn classification may be appointed to the sworn classification of Firefighter/Engineer and serve a probationary period of eighteen (18) months. • Proof of a valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) dated within 12 months prior to appointment.

The Parks, Recreation & Community Services Manager – Senior Services is responsible for leading the operations, programs, services, and community engagement efforts that support Redwood City’s older adult population. This position oversees a broad range of senior services, including recreation programming, wellness initiatives, social services coordination, special events, facility operations, partnerships, and community outreach, while helping ensure the City’s brand new 45,000 square foot senior center continues to be a welcoming, active, inclusive, and responsive community space.

This role provides leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations of senior services programs and facilities, including staff supervision, budget administration, program development, strategic planning, contract management, and customer service delivery. The Manager works collaboratively across City departments and with community organizations, regional agencies, volunteers, and service providers to support programs and services that enhance quality of life, social connection, health, and lifelong learning opportunities for older adults.

The Manager also serves as a key liaison to community stakeholders and the Senior Affairs commission, helps guide long-range planning efforts related to aging services and ensures programs and services reflect the evolving needs of Redwood City’s diverse senior community. Responsibilities include overseeing operational logistics, evaluating program effectiveness, supporting staff development, and maintaining strong partnerships that advance the City’s commitment to accessible and high-quality community services.
