To respond to fire alarms, medical emergency, and other emergency activities in the protection of life and property; and to participate in fire prevention, training and station and equipment maintenance activities.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy in the Woodland Fire Department, as well as establish an eligibility list for future vacancies.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

The following are typical illustrations of duties encompassed by the job class, not an all-inclusive or limiting list:

Respond to fire alarms with assigned company; lay and connect hose lines; hold nozzles and direct water streams; raise and climb ladders.  Perform rescue operations in a variety of situations including but not limited to rescuing persons from areas threatened by fire, hazardous conditions, confined space, and active shooter/rescue task force events.  Provide basic life support during medical incidents, assessing and initiating patient care until relieved by proper medical personnel. Operate all types of portable fire extinguishers, hand tools, hose lines, power tools and appliances, salvage covers, forcible entry tools, emergency medical equipment and other rescue equipment. Participate in fire drills; serve as instructor as assigned; attend training sessions. Promote and maintain safety in the workplace. Work cooperatively with others as integral part of a team.  Follow chain of command and be responsive to orders.  Regular, predictable, consistent and timely attendance is an essential function of the position, in that Employee must be present and fit for duty.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Respond to hazardous materials incidents and participate as member of the County Hazardous Materials Team. Shut down natural gas and electrical services to structure.  Participate in fire inspection activities and other fire prevention, community risk reduction, and public education activities as assigned.  Ensure that businesses are operating in compliance with the fire code. Participate in the programs providing various public relations services, including facility tours, public education seminars and other public events.  Respond to inquiries from the public.  Assist in investigating fire origin and cause.  May be requested to respond to emergencies during non-duty hours.  Control traffic.  Inventory supplies; maintain records. Can serve as “acting positions” when certified.  Clean station quarters and equipment and maintain a clean and orderly condition in and about the fire station; perform minor building maintenance.  Operate radio and communications equipment.  Assist in overhaul and salvage operations.  Learn a wide variety of firefighting duties, methods, and procedures including the operation of firefighting apparatus, equipment, and tools.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidates hired shall refrain from the use of all tobacco products during the term of their employment with the City, including smokeless tobacco products.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: 

High school diploma or equivalent.  College-level coursework in fire science, general management, or related field is desirable. Proof of completion of a Firefighter Academy may be required. 

Experience: 

Any experience that would likely provide the required ability is qualifying; firefighting experience is desirable.

 License or Certificate:

• Proof of valid Candidate Physical Ability Test (valid for one year from issuance date).
• Proof of validated written test completion given by recognized institution such as Fire Candidate Training Center (FCTC), the City of Woodland, or another accepted agency may be required.  

Required Upon Hire and Continued Employment:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License
• Emergency Medical Technician Certificate
• Valid CPR certification.

BENEFITS

Current Salary:                    
$6,022.68 per month ($2,779.70 bi-weekly).  Upon successful completion of the Fire Academy, candidate eligible for salary increase to $6,691.85 per month ($3,088.55 bi-weekly)

Retirement:                          
CalPERS Retirement System (3% @ 50 Formula for Classic CalPERS members and 2.7% @ 57 Formula for new CalPERS members).  The City does not participate in social security

Deferred Compensation:                   
Choice of deferred compensation plans (Traditional and Roth).  After successful completion of probation, new hires are also eligible for a 2% City Contribution.

Medical:                                
CalPERS Medical Insurance Plans, including HMOs & PPOs.  City gives an allowance toward the cost of insurance.  Maximum Family Allowance for 2025 is $2,752.96 per month

Dental/Vision:                      
City paid Delta Dental and VSP Vision Insurance

Life Insurance:                    
City provides $50,000 life insurance policy

Supplemental Benefits:     
Voluntary Supplemental Life, Cancer, Critical Illness and Accident Only insurances, and Flexible Spending Accounts available

Vacation:                              
11 hours per month during first 3 years of service

Sick Leave:                          
12 hours per month

Holiday-In-Lieu:                  
11.2 hours per month

Longevity Pay:                     
1% of Base Pay at 10 years of service

Bilingual Pay:                      
$200 per month upon certification

Uniform Allowance:            
$900 per year

Educational Incentive:       
Up to 5% additional compensation for fire service diploma/certificates

Professional Growth Incentive:      
$625 per fiscal year for additional education or professional activities

THE POSITION

The City of Chowchilla is seeking a Director of Finance.  This executive position performs highly responsible and complex professional work.  Plans, directs, supervises, and coordinates financial planning, accounting, revenue administration, data processing, purchasing, preparation of payroll, investments telecommunication accounts, billing and collection of utilities and other user charges; provides highly responsible professional and technical staff assistance to the City Administrator, City Council, and departments; and performs other related work as required;  The finance director is also designated to be the City Treasurer. 

The City of Colfax is currently accepting applications for Maintenance Worker I. This is an entry level position in the Public Works department requiring a minimum of 1 year of experience in a semi-skilled maintenance occupation. Typical duties include: landscape maintenance, electrical and plumbing repairs, minor construction and light carpentry projects, cleaning public restrooms, keeping public streets and parks clean and in good repair. The employee will check storm drains, culverts and ditches; operate tools and equipment to patch and repair pavement, construct and maintain gutters, sidewalks and other incidental improvements. The ability to operate power tools and work safely, wearing appropriate PPE. Occasional maintenance will be required for the wastewater treatment plant and collection systems. The Departments: 

Community Development Department

The Community Development Department is comprised of three divisions: Planning, Building, and Housing and Community Services. In general, the Department guides the ongoing physical development of the community, to ensure that construction conforms to the standards of the City and State. Within the Department, the Housing and Community Services Division provides strategic leadership for the City’s housing program and facilitates the development and preservation of affordable housing and the delivery of community services for lower income residents. The Housing and Community Services Division is staffed by nine (9) full-time positions. Specific activities within the Division include administration of the City’s inclusionary housing program for rental and ownership units, loans for new affordable housing development and rehabilitation, the long-term compliance of the City’s affordable housing portfolio, and management of the City’s Redevelopment legacy assets and Housing Element program implementation. The Division also administers the City’s federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and HOME Investment Partnerships Act Program (HOME) entitlement grant programs. These grants are used to promote affordable housing, rehabilitate substandard housing, facilitate neighborhood improvements, remove barriers to persons with disabilities, prevent homelessness and reduce its impacts, and to fund public services for low- and moderate-income residents. The Housing and Community Services Division of the Community Development Department is currently hiring for two Staff Analyst II positions. 

The Compliance Staff Analyst II in this Division will be essential in administering and monitoring compliance of the City's Affordable Housing Programs. This position ensures that multifamily housing projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations. The Staff Analyst II will review, interpret, and apply these regulations, as well as the City’s affordable housing agreements. Responsibilities include overseeing compliance for the affordable rental portfolio, monitoring both existing and new inclusionary units, collaborating with developers on initial marketing and lease-ups, and assisting with complex issues related to rental compliance and reporting requirements. Additionally, the Staff Analyst II will report directly to the Housing Development Officer and provide administrative and clerical support.

The Housing Policy Staff Analyst II in this Division will be responsible for implementing a range of new policies and programs in the City’s adopted 2023-2031 Housing Element. This position will help track changing state laws and requirements, conduct research and policy analysis, plan and conduct stakeholder outreach, coordinate and manage consultants, serve as the City’s liaison to the Santa Clara Community Planning Collaborative, gather and organize data for analysis and mapping, manage ordinance updates, write staff reports, evaluate programs, draft presentations for City Council, and more. This position will report jointly to the Housing & Community Services Manager and the Planning Manager.

Department of Public Works

The City of Santa Clara's Department of Public Works (DPW) seeks a results-oriented and innovative Staff Analyst II to serve out the Department's mission to provide the highest quality public works services to the residents and businesses of Santa Clara, the development community, and other stakeholders in a responsible and efficient manner. The Department has focus areas that include Engineering Services and Operations and Maintenance. Engineering Services is comprised of five divisions: Administration, Traffic, Design, Land and Property Development, and Field Services. Operations and Maintenance include public roadways, parkways and boulevards, City trees, street sweeping, environmental programs, storm drain systems, fleet, solid and mixed waste/recyclables, and City facilities. The ideal candidate for this position will have a strong financial background and high-level technical support and complex financial analysis related to budget. The position requires the use of considerable initiative, judgment, analysis, coordination, and interpersonal skills. This position will be providing budget related support to the division, program and project managers. The Position: 

The Staff Analyst II is responsible for advanced level program analysis and higher level administrative duties in support of assigned programs and activities. Assigned programs could include housing development, housing policy analysis, community development, public works capital improvement program project implementation, community outreach, historic preservation, financial analysis, budget and revenue/expenditure tracking, advanced planning, public/private housing rehabilitation, management analysis, building services, human services, criminal statistics, solid waste, recycling, waste prevention, sustainability, urban runoff pollution prevention, and federal/state grant programs and activities. Performs related duties as assigned. 

The Staff Analyst II works under general supervision and is expected to work within established procedures and policies of the work unit. This classification performs professional work involving program management, budget administration, and research. The Staff Analyst II analyzes data, prepares reports, and make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Minimum Experience Requirements: 

Six (6) months of experience performing analytical work.

Acceptable Substitution: 

A Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the above fields may be substituted for the six (6) months required analytical experience.

License/Certifications: 

Possession of a valid California Class C driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Other Requirements:  

Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.

Incumbents of this classification may be required to occasionally work overtime and odd and unusual hours.

DEFINITION

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom.  Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite.  If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher  supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

• Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.

THE DEPARTMENT

The Information Systems and Technology Division is responsible for the City's network infrastructure, cybersecurity, Help Desk support, and daily IT operations. DEFINITION

Under general supervision, perform a variety of routine and complex duties in support of City-wide information systems, security, and technology operations. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor physical and virtual network and server infrastructure including hardware, software, real-time monitoring tools, peripherals, and devices ensuring effective performance and proper integration of components and systems with existing architecture; assist in infrastructure changes and upgrades to limit interrupted services.
• Administer automated deployment of software and updates over the network.
• Monitor and maintain security control of City network and server infrastructure; configure and monitor security features and firewall rules; verify and ensure proper user accessibility; identify and address vulnerabilities; research, recommend, and apply security updates as needed.
• Monitor disaster recovery and backup processes and schedules; verify that backups are successful and data can be recovered.
• Ensure database security by preparing access and control policies and procedures and reviewing permissions on a regular basis.
• Install, configure, maintain, troubleshoot, and monitor City-wide telecommunications systems including voice and data communications infrastructure and equipment; set up and maintain user accounts, access groups, extensions, and voicemail boxes; troubleshoot system-wide outages.
• Work on systems and infrastructure conversion, installation, and maintenance projects, including planning, organizing, and defining project requirements, methods, and end objectives in consultation with end users; coordinate project activities with IT Manager and IT staff, end users, and vendors.
• Maintain information on scheduled systems maintenance, including upgrades and outages.
• Respond to and resolve users’ inquiries and complaints and escalate problems or issues to
•  vendor representatives as needed.
• Stay abreast of new trends and innovations in technology related to systems, network, server, and telecommunications; research, recommend, and evaluate vendor solutions and technologies; implement improvements upon approval.
• Perform related duties and responsibilities as required and other duties as assigned.
• Serve as a Disaster Service Worker, as required.
