THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;

Minimum Qualifications:

• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.

DESCRIPTION:

Substitute preschool instructor plans, organizes, and implements a program of instruction for preschool as part of scheduled recreation activities; develops courses to be a part of preschool, inventories, and maintains material and equipment requirements for program; supervises and trains Preschool aides and volunteer assistants to assist in conducting the program as needed; assists in publicizing programs to the general public; represents the City before general public as part of assigned functions; coordinates assigned program activities with other departmental programs.

This classification differs from that of a Preschool Teacher which is an as needed position. Substitute teachers are responsible for assisting the preschool teachers as needed, on an on-call basis with no set schedule. This is a part-time temporary, non-benefited position limited to 995 hours per fiscal year.

Receives direct or general direction from the Recreation Coordinator. Exercises no direct supervision over staff.

At least 15 units of college level courses in Early Childhood Education are mandatory. Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid are desirable. The Preschool Instructor should have knowledge of safety precautions, and should possess a positive and enthusiastic attitude.

CLASS CHARACTERISITICS:

The Department:

The Santa Clara City Library is a department of the City of Santa Clara. The Santa Clara City Library operates three facilities, a virtual branch through a website, and a bookmobile. The Library provides a collection of virtual and physical books and resources, services and programs, public internet access, adult literacy and English as Second Language classes for the Santa Clara community. Services and programs are free and open to all.

The Position:

The Santa Clara City Library is seeking an enthusiastic and community-oriented Librarian with a strong public service commitment at the Mission Branch Library. This Librarian will provide library service, information, and programming for all ages, and may be responsible of the branch in-lieu of more senior staff. Constant contact and collaboration with patrons of all ages, including those with diverse backgrounds and abilities, are part of the daily duties of this position.  

This is a limited-term appointment of 30-40 hours/week for up to 6 months. As an as-needed employee, this is an "at-will" position and there is no guarantee of hours. Hours are limited to 999 in a fiscal year or 960 hours in a fiscal year for retired CalPERS annuitants.

THE POSITION

The City of Foster City is recruiting for a part-time Parks Maintenance Worker in the Parks Department. The is a part-time non-benefited position working approximately 20 hours per week, and no benefits are provided. 

Important and Essential Responsibilities 
Performs mowing, weeding, trimming, pruning, cultivating, fertilizing, pest control, planting and cleaning of lawns, trees, plants, and parks; removes and disposes of trash and litter; maintains park and maintenance equipment, buildings and facilities; maintains irrigation systems; performs construction and demolition of park facilities, drainage, low-voltage electrical and irrigation systems for new, expanded and renovated park facilities as part of capital improvement projects; performs minor plumbing or building repair duties; supervises and coordinates Sheriff’s Work Program personnel; operates small trucks, dump trucks, ride-on and walk-behind mowing equipment.

Education and Training Guidelines: 
Any combination equivalent to experience and education that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way would be:

Education: Completion of a job or technical training program in maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping; completion of high school or the equivalent. 

Experience: One year of full time experience in general maintenance, construction, or groundskeeping.

Selection Process

Facility and Sports Field Attendants work in the formal Suisun City classification of Recreation Specialist I. Starting hourly rate will depend on qualifications. This position works on average 19 hours per week.

The Department: The Recreation, Parks and Marina Department is responsible for the operations and programs of the Suisun City Marina, the Senior Center and the Joseph A. Nelson Center, including preschool, after-school programs at various sites, recreation classes and sports leagues, community events and special event rentals.
