ABOUT THE POSITION

The City of Redwood City invites you to apply for the position of SECRETARY in the Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department (Recreation Division). The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of complex and secretarial duties in daily support of the Red Morton Community Center. The Opportunity

The County of San Mateo’s Sustainability Department seeks a dynamic and experienced leader for the position of Assistant Director of Sustainability. This role supports the County’s vision to build sustainable communities that meet the needs of both present and future generations.

The Assistant Director will partner closely with the Director to manage a $40M dollar budget and a high-performing team of approximately 35 professionals to lead efforts to combat and adapt to climate change, ensure access to clean energy, water, and air, and conserve natural resources.

 As a Park Services Officer Aide, you will:  

• Drive to different park locations and assist in the daily operations and maintenance of park facilities and grounds. 
• Report unsafe conditions, incidents of vandalism, and other related conditions. 
• Provide exceptional customer service to park visitors, answering questions, providing information, and first aid to ill or injured visitors.

The Ideal Candidate

Work Schedule: This is a 20-24-hour per week position. The regular work schedule is Wednesday, Thursday and Friday; weekend work may be occasionally required. This position is limited to up to 1000 hours per year. However, employment might end sooner, depending on the needs of the hiring department. Extra-help positions are paid hourly and are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

• Public Works (Engineering & Operations Support) – Provide support to the City’s Public Works Department across engineering, development review, and capital project delivery. Under direction of a Senior Civil Engineer, the Civil Engineer helps define, design, and/or review minor projects and phases of large civil engineering projects with complex budgets and timelines. In the Engineering Division, projects may include such things as bridge repair and replacement, culvert repair and replacement, new retaining walls, pavement management, road improvements, new stormwater management devices, new traffic management devices, and others.

Community Development Agency: Building & Safety Division Opportunity [Structural Civil Engineer]

Signing bonus

Hybrid schedule

The Department of Public Works and the Community Development Agency have embraced a hybrid work schedule that considers that some duties of this position may be performed remotely. This role includes digitizing and photographing historical items, accurately cataloging them in the City’s archival system, and supporting ongoing records management efforts. The intern will also collaborate with the City Council History Subcommittee to research, plan, and develop future exhibits for the Library’s History Room, helping make the City’s rich history accessible and engaging for the community.
