THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
• Documentation including daily participant attendance;
• Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
• Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
• TB Clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA
• Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.

For the Senior Engineer, the salary range listed above reflects the full compensation potential for this position. Initial placement in the salary range is typically within the first half of the range; however, in certain circumstances (i.e. an experienced lateral candidate) placement at or above the midpoint may be considered. The last 3% of the salary range requires five years of City of Gilroy service and strong work performance – see MOU for specific requirements.

ABOUT THE POSITION

The Senior Civil Engineer classification is an exempt, mid-management level position. 

The Engineer II will play a critical role in designing, managing and delivering Capital Improvement projects that improve essential city infrastructure. From planning and budgeting to implementation, your work will positively affect thousands of residents daily, supporting the city’s mission to create a safe, connected, and vibrant community. Although this position is dedicated to CIP, in order to appropriately respond to community needs, the Engineer II may also provide support to the Land Development and Transportation engineering sections, so adaptability and flexibility are keys to success in this position. This position may also represent the City in community meetings and hearings, meetings with project stakeholders, and serve on regional committees as applicable.

The Engineer II is a journey-level position that will work under the direct supervision of a Senior Engineer or City Engineer and will perform professional engineering work in the field and office. Assignments will involve investigating, developing, and constructing a wide variety of capital projects and preparing/reviewing engineering studies aimed at being transformative for the residents of Gilroy.  This position may also represent the City in community meetings and hearings, meetings with project stakeholders, and serve on regional committees as applicable.

The Public Works Department is responsible for providing high quality, safe and effective maintenance, operation and construction of streets, parks, storm drainage and related infrastructure. The Department is under new leadership with a renewed focus on master infrastructure planning, proactive capital maintenance and replacement, traffic engineering and customer service. Pipeline public projects include completion of the Civic Center Master Plan, design and bid of the new Santa Teresa Fire Station, a $7 million pavement rehabilitation project, a $3 million San Ysidro Park remodel project, and completion of Traffic Impact Fee Study. The City is processing multiple large private projects including an almost one million square foot Amazon data center as well as multiple residential subdivisions and multi-family projects.

The Department:

The Finance Department administers the financial affairs of the City of Santa Clara, including City-owned public utilities. The Position:

Accounting Technician I

This is the entry-level class within the Accounting Technician series in the classified service. Performs basic accounting work including the maintenance of financial records, systems or transactions. Interfaces with other City departments, auditors, business entities, governmental jurisdiction and general public, giving and receiving information regarding area of financial responsibility. Performs related duties as assigned.

Accounting Technician II

This is the second level classification in the Accounting Technician series. Performs advanced paraprofessional accounting work including the maintenance of financial records, systems or transactions. Interfaces with other City departments, auditors, business entities, governmental jurisdiction and general public, giving and receiving information regarding area of financial responsibility. May perform more complex processing and reconciliation work and related duties as assigned.

The Environmental Services Department is currently looking to hire ONE regular full-time Environmental Compliance Inspector. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future Environmental Compliance Inspector vacancies as a regular or term-limited position.

The Environmental Services Department provides comprehensive and innovative environmental utility services for Sunnyvale's residents and businesses, and facilitates initiatives to achieve the City's sustainability objectives. The department brings together technical, operational, and administrative professional disciplines to form its dedicated and dynamic team.

These programs help protect our waterways and the San Francisco Bay by ensuring that businesses and residents are implementing best management practices to prevent water pollution and are in compliance with Federal and local water quality regulations. Environmental Compliance Inspectors work closely with a wide variety of businesses to ensure that the composition of their wastewater is in compliance with City requirements and does not compromise the integrity of the City's Water Pollution Control Plant or the sewer collection system. Such businesses range from aerospace and semiconductor manufacturers to dental offices and restaurants. The inspection team is also advancing multiple stormwater initiatives such as trash reduction and controls for pollutants of concern such as mercury and PCBs.

Under general direction, performs journey level inspection and enforcement activities on industrial, commercial, and residential discharges to the sewage and storm drain system for compliance with codes and laws regulating waste processes; and does other related work, as required.

Minimum Qualifications

Education/Experience

The minimum qualifications for education and experience can be met in the following way:

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, microbiology, environmental science, environmental or chemical engineering,  AND
 
One year of increasingly responsible experience in the collection and analysis of industrial or other wastewater/water samples, or one year of increasingly responsible experience in conducting environmental or regulatory inspections.

Licenses/Certificates

Possession at time of hire and continued maintenance of a valid Class C California driver's license and a safe driving record.

Salary:  $46.48 - $59.32 Hourly

SENIOR RECREATION LEADER

Part-time, non benefited Position

Summary Description

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor/coordinator, the Senior Recreation Leader is responsible for implementing programs at a given site, including administering program curriculum and supervising program staff.  This is an at-will, intermittent, part-time, hourly wage position without City-paid benefits.  Work a flexible work schedule, which may include evening, weekdays, weekends and holidays.

Representative Duties

Distinguishing Characteristics

Parks Maintenance Worker I: This is the entry level class in the Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker II by the performance of the more routine tasks and duties assigned to workers in this series. Employees at this level are not expected to perform with the same independence of direction and judgment on matters related to established procedures and guidelines as are positions allocated to the II level. Since this class is typically used as a training class, employees may have only limited or non directly related work experience. Employees work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks.

Parks Maintenance Worker II: This is the full journey level class within the Maintenance Worker series. This class is distinguished from the Maintenance Worker I by the assignment of the full range of duties assigned. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise, and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the I level.

Representative Duties

About the Position:  The incumbent will be a part of a cohesive team of 15 in the Natural Resources Department, which is part of the Visitor and Field Services service line. The Wildlife Program is comprised of four fulltime program staff, including this position, and an intern. The position is a working supervisor meaning that time is divided between program administration, oversight, and staff development while also managing and advancing District projects. Strong supervisory and project management skills are required, as well as an ability to shift seamlessly between program and personnel management. This position works not only within the Natural Resources Department but is often a liaison with other departments and external agencies to advance larger District programs and projects. Wildlife program staff currently specialize in different subject matter expertise, but cross training is provided and providing back up to one another in differing area is expected. The supervisor manages and assigns program staff to oversee and assist with different projects primarily based on their areas of expertise, but also based on available staffing. The wildlife program covers a broad range of topics including but not limited to: permit administration, wildlife conflict management, special status species monitoring and research.   

The Ideal Candidate:

• Possesses a broad breadth of understanding of wildlife management for wide ranging taxa from large megafauna to micro invertebrates

• Experience in negotiating and securing permits (ideally programmatic permits) from regulatory agencies primarily California Department of Fish and Wildlife and US Fish and Wildlife Service but may include US Army Corps of Engineers or Regional Water Quality Control Board.
• Experience overseeing sensitive status species monitoring, reporting and recovery efforts
• Supervisory experience for multiple staff and consultant biologists, strong leadership skills, and the ability to mentor and grow junior staff
• Is a creative thinker, problem solver and able to juggle competing priorities
• Strong background in project management, from developing project scopes, schedules and budgets to consultant and contract oversight
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team to deliver capital projects while avoiding and minimizing impacts to sensitive natural resources
• Assists staff in designing projects to reduce the need for mitigation, understands mitigation monitoring and reporting, and works creatively to secure mitigation when needed
• Ability to develop and maintain relationships with partner agencies, environmental advocacy groups, scientists and researchers, as well as other staff, boards, volunteers, vendors and the general public
• Strong public speaking skills
• Report writing skills

Work Environment:  This position will report to Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, CA.  Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding. A minimum of three days in the office is required per week.  In addition to working in an office setting to complete project tasks and at various venues across the San Francisco Peninsula to present information at public meetings, the Senior Resource Management Specialist may sometimes work in the field and hike steep terrain and wildland areas with poison oak and wildlife.

Field Work: Fieldwork is integral to this position and dependent on the season and current projects.  Fieldwork will require driving District vehicles in remote areas on dirt roads, working in all weather conditions, and hiking through steep terrain and wildland areas. Ideal candidates will be comfortable working in these types of field conditions, as well as in an office environment.

Education and Experience: 

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in environmental design, natural resource management, ecology, biology, or a related field, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in natural resource management preferably in parks, open space, or related field, including at least three (3) years of experience supervising staff, consultants, or contractors. A Master’s Degree is desirable. Professional work experience with parks and open space is highly desired.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.

The Accounting Manager leads a team of 10.5 Full Time Equivalent positions and plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the activities of the accounting division which includes functions such as all aspects of accounting services, accounts payable, accounts receivable and debt and investment management. This position is also responsible for regulatory federal and state reporting, acts as the staff liaison with external auditors, leads the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR), and provides highly complex staff assistance to the Director of Finance.
