DEFINITION

Performs a variety of advanced technical and specialized accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting records and financial transactions. Analyzes accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined by federal, local, and state regulations as well as the Finance department. Trains and provides technical advice to lower-level accounting personnel, and performs related work as required. Works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities.

Receives direction from the Finance Director/Treasurer. May exercise supervision over additional professional, technical and/or support staff as assigned.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare and maintain payroll function for the Town; manage records for employee deductions; create reports and arrange payments to various taxing and financial organizations; and interpret and implement guidelines provided by other agencies related to payroll and deductions.
• Prepare quarterly and yearly payroll reports for federal and state agencies; responsible for capital asset accounting and reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
• Makes wire transfers and journal funding transfers and reconciles monthly bank statements.
• Respond to inquiries from Town employees and vendors (if necessary) and explain processes and systems; compose correspondence as necessary.
• Review entries made to various financial records for proper coding and maintenance of appropriate accounting procedures; review cash receipts, business license, and accounts payable entries; prepare monthly health benefit and retirement benefit payments.
• Monitor and maintain Capital Improvement Program projects and grant activities; ensure compliance with stipulations and reporting requirements, and confirm data is recorded in the Town’s financial accounting system.
• Assists with the fiscal year-end close and fixed asset accounting, including prepare audit schedule.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Controller’s Office

The mission of the Controller’s Office of San Mateo County is to promote the County's operational effectiveness and ensure its financial transparency and integrity by providing quality accounting, audit, and financial reporting services.
   
The Controller's Office maintains the County’s accounting system and records, and prepares independently audited, award-winning annual financial reports (ACFR and PAFR) that disclose the financial condition of the County to the public. We are staffed with 51 full-time accounting, audit, and information systems professionals. The office also calculates annual property tax bill amounts, distribute taxes collected to local government agencies, and performs internal audits of the County’s operations.

The Childcare Site Coordinator is the position responsible for the daily operations of a childcare site.

 

Supervision Received and Exercised

General supervision is provided by the Recreation Supervisor Childcare Services. Responsibilities include the direct supervision of site subordinate personnel.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Plans, organizes and coordinates the care of preschool and elementary school-age children by providing various activities and events at a childcare site.
• Prepares daily and monthly program plans and assigns activities and events to subordinate staff members.
• Maintains staff and participant files in accordance with departmental, licensing (Title 22) and funding (Title 5) requirements.
• Creates attendance rosters and checkoff list for all rooms for keeping track of children and ratios.
• Schedules staff to ensure required ratios are met at all times. Coordinates staff with other sites.
• Prepares a monthly site newsletter outlining activities and events,

Experience:

One (1) year of experience, defined as three (3) hours or more per day for 350 days in the past four (4) years. This experience must be in a group setting working with children aged 2 ½ - 14.  and 100 hours of supervising adults.

Experience teaching in a Title 5 program is desirable.

Training:

AA degree with 24 units in Child Development units including: All 12 units of the core child development classes, 16 General Education units, 6 Administrative units, and a 2-unit adult supervision class, or

A Teaching or Administrative Credential with 15 units in Child Development units including: All 12 units of the core child development classes, and a 3-unit supervised field experience class.

Licenses/Certifications:

Possession of a valid California driver’s license.

Current Site Supervisor permit from the State of California, or a current Site Supervisor Permit Waiver, or must possess the qualifications to obtain a Site Supervisor Permit with one year of hire.

Red Cross Infant/Child CPR/AED and Red Cross First Aid Certifications must be completed within six months of employment.

All Child care employees must pass the Department of Justice fingerprinting scan in order to work for the City of Pacifica.

The San Mateo Medical Center operates five dental clinics located in San Mateo, Redwood City, Daly City, and Half Moon Bay, along with a Mobile Dental Clinic. These clinics provide dental care for children and adults, including homeless and transitional populations. Pregnant women on Medi-Cal and patients with an HIV diagnosis also receive dental services at these clinics, with coverage available through the Ryan White grant. 

All Clinics are open Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM and some Saturdays and evenings. The Fair Oaks Health Center hosts UCSF dental students, while both the Fair Oaks Health Center and the Mobile Dental Clinic host UOP dental students to aid in patient care.

The Dental Assistant Series levels include:

Dental Assistant ($29.55 - $36.92 hourly) is the experienced level class in the Dental Assistant series, competent to independently perform the full range of journey-level dental assisting work under the supervision of a dentist. This class is flexibly staffed with the Registered Dental Assistant and incumbents may advance to the higher level after obtaining required certification and demonstrating the required proficiency for the higher level.

Registered Dental Assistant ($34.92 - $43.66 Hourly) is the advanced journey-level classification in the series.  Under the supervision of a dentist, incumbents at this level perform dental assisting duties which are limited to a person certified as a Registered Dental Assistant in addition to performing Dental Assistant duties of the lower level.

We are seeking Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants who are motivated and demonstrate the willingness to learn and adapt to new situations. All Dental Assistants and Registered Dental Assistants rotate and should be available to work at any of our dental clinics. Transportation to each work site is the employee's responsibility. About the Opportunities

We are excited to announce multiple full-time, permanent opportunities for Maintenance Workers in the Water and Sewer / Collections divisions within Public Works. Under general supervision, you will perform a variety of manual tasks to maintain the City's vital infrastructure. The eligibility list created could be used to fill any Maintenance Worker I vacancies within the department of Public Works. 

Water Division

In this division, you will perform manual labor in operational maintenance and repair of leaks, water mains, hydrants, valves, and service lines. You will assist in servicing and reading water meters, testing samples, emergency response, and construction tasks such as laying pipe and excavating trenches.

Sewer / Collections Division

In this division, you will perform manual labor and operate heavy equipment to maintain sewer mains, laterals, and manholes. Duties include cleaning sewer lines, operating combination trucks, performing inspections to prevent flooding, and responding to emergency sewage spills or blocked systems.

Your Key Responsibilities may include:

• Infrastructure Maintenance: Ensuring City infrastructure complies with level of service standards.

• Manual Labor: Performing heavy labor including shoveling, lifting, and digging for the repair of landscaping, sewers, streets, and water lines.

• Equipment Operation: Safely operating hand/power tools in the performance of assigned duties.

• Emergency Response: Responding to emergency calls for service (sewers, water leaks, storm drains) after hours and on weekends.

• Technical Tasks: Performing basic carpentry, cement work, and oxyacetylene cutting. 

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent GED.

Experience: One (1) year of full-time experience in semiskilled construction maintenance or landscape maintenance work.

Licenses & Certifications:

• Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License with a satisfactory driving record.

• Must obtain a Class B California Driver’s License with required endorsements within six (6) months of hire.

• Water Division: Must obtain a Class D-2 Water Distribution Certificate within one (1) year.

• Collections Division: Must obtain a CWEA Grade I Collections Certificate within one (1) year.

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Knowledge of safety hazards and applicable safety precautions.

• Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations.

• Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 100 pounds and working in confined spaces or inclement weather.

• Effective communication skills and the ability to follow complex verbal and written instructions.

• Ability to report to work any hour of the day or night during a disaster or other emergency situations.
