Come join our collaborative and supportive department today. The City of Sebastopol is seeking an outgoing, empathetic, responsible, problem-solver to serve as a Police Communications Dispatcher. The Police Communications Dispatcher receives and processes routine and emergency calls. The incumbent will dispatch police and enter, retrieve, and use data from various automated law enforcement information systems. The successful candidate will coordinate with and transfer calls to other emergency service providers as appropriate. The individual will perform a variety of clerical and technical duties in support of the department’s operations. In addition, they will learn applicable policies, procedures, and work methods associated with assigned duties, and perform other related duties as required. This recruitment is to fill a full-time and per-diem position and create a list for anticipated future vacancies. We will be creating two lists, one for already POST-certified dispatchers and one for entry-level dispatchers.

You will plan and execute age appropriate arts, crafts, or activities daily to keep students engaged through program duration.

DEFINITION: This position reports to the Recreation Coordinator and/or Supervisor managing Youth Programs. This position involves a high level of management, coordination, curriculum development and customer service. As an Afterschool Program Director at Old Mill Elementary School, you will plan and coordinate the daily activities for K-5th grade program attendees on-site at the school. You will be responsible for organizing and implementing daily projects and activities, overseeing staff, and communicating with parents. This position requires a commitment to 2025-2026 school year. Program hours are M, T, Th, F from 2:20pm – 5:30pm and Wed. From 1:30pm – 5:30pm Approximately 20-25 hours a week.

PROGRAM LEADER (SPORTS AND FITNESS)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour, DOE

This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefitted position; 15-20 hours per week (not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year); predominantly afternoon/evening schedule, some weekends.

DEFINITION
The Town seeks gym monitors, scorekeepers, and leaders for the Junior Warriors youth basketball program. Responsibilities focus on monitoring basketball practices and games for kindergarten-aged through middle school participants. Basketball knowledge is preferred but not required. All staff will be cross-trained to assist with multiple aspects of the program, including refereeing younger age groups (K–3rd grade) and scorekeeping/timekeeping for older age groups. CPR/FA certification is recommended but not required.
 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Program Leader receives supervision from the Program Coordinator and/or Program Assistant.
 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
•Gym monitoring for practices and games, including opening the gym, setting up and lowering hoops, and cleaning up.
•Refereeing for younger age groups (K–3rd grade).
•Scorekeeping and timekeeping for older age groups.
•Completing program score sheets, reports, and timesheets according to deadlines.
•Attending monthly staff meetings.
•Various tasks related to the implementation of youth basketball programs.
 

QUALIFICATIONS
•Reliable and dependable.
•Good social skills to communicate with managers, coaches, parents, and children.
•Team player.
•Able to work independently.
•Flexible and willing to learn and teach.
 

SCHEDULE:
•Practices begin in December during the week (gym monitoring shifts).
•Games start in January and occur on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).

Position Duties  

The Department of Public Works is recruiting to fill two (2) Building Inspector-Electrical Specialty, Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior positions within the Engineering Services Division, Code Inspection Section.   

The Building Inspector Combination/Certified I/II/III/Senior position will be located subject to business need. This position will provide inspection support at a variety of City of San José facilities, including the Airport, Regional Wastewater Facility and Central Service Yard.  

Key responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to the following:  

• Conduct inspections of industrial, commercial, manufacturing, and facilities to ensure compliance with codes, regulations, ordinances, standards, and contract agreements which includes setting up inspection schedules; gathering information and evidence; and, ensuring conformance to plans, specifications, and safety regulations.   

• Investigate building, construction, and land use changes in the field by gathering factual data to ascertain present use of land and location of structures; conducting background investigations and research; and preparing reports to use as evidence.   

• Provide technical assistance for development of codes and policies.   

• Generate written reports and enforcement orders which includes noting deficiencies in standards and submitting final documentation.   

• Review plans and specifications for compliance with codes which includes assisting in projects in complying with regulations, prioritizing deficiencies, and preparing timetables.   

• Provide technical support for agencies and the public which includes inputting data into system for general public access.   

• Meet with architects, engineers, City officials, and building contractors to discuss construction projects.   

• Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,419 to $11,416 per month (up to $13,128 with incentives)

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. A Dispatcher II is a civilian employee of the Police Department who performs a variety of tasks in the Department’s Support Services Division. The Dispatcher II acts as the Department’s primary dispatcher, receiving and relaying incoming calls for emergency and non-emergency assistance; dispatching police units; operating a variety of telecommunications equipment including radio, telephone, and computer-aided dispatch systems; status monitoring, records and file maintenance in a computer-aided environment; and entry level dispatch training. A Dispatcher II may be assigned to work various hours, shifts, holidays, weekends and overtime.

Additional duties may include, but are not limited to, the following: prioritize requests for service based upon available resources, receive radio requests and handle accordingly, type, process and file a wide variety of reports and materials including memos, letters, complaints, declarations, warrants, citations, crime and traffic reports. Assists Department personnel and the public in person and by phone performing record checks, collecting fees and mailing requested reports to outside agencies in accordance with established regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Have a combination of education and work experience, including a minimum of 1 year of dispatch work; 2 years general office work involving typing of varied materials, public contact, general filing and basic record keeping; type at least 40 wpm (net). Have knowledge of business English, spelling; modern office practices and procedures; record keeping. Ability to dispatch police units quickly and effectively; work under pressure; exercise independent judgment; work with minimal supervision; make sound decisions in emergency situations; learn assigned clerical tasks readily and to adhere to prescribed routine; write English legibly; establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the general public; operate computer-aided dispatch system, 911 emergency telephone, and other multi-line telephone systems, various law enforcement telecommunications systems, radio console with headsets and handsets, computer keyboards, cameras, intercoms, security. Willingness to work varying shifts and radio dispatching skills.

The City of Pleasant Hill offers a competitive compensation and benefits program.

• Salary: $6,987 to $9,050 per month. Placement within the range depends on experience and qualifications.
