The San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District and the San Ramon Police Department jointly invite qualified applicants to submit an application for the position of Lateral Public Safety Dispatcher. Under direction and management of the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District, the 9-1-1 Center provides the full array of public safety communication services for Police/Fire and EMS.

THE POSITION
Under the supervision of a shift lead, the Public Safety Dispatcher processes emergency and non-emergency calls for service; dispatches police, fire, medical, and other emergency equipment, by telephone or radio, utilizing complex technical aids, such as Computer Aided Dispatch systems (CAD); and performs other related duties as assigned.
 
The ideal candidate will possess a POST Basic Certificate, EMD Certificate, EFD Certificate, and knowledge in all disciplines of Police/Fire and EMS dispatching and one year as a Public Safety Dispatcher with a demonstrated background in the operation of modern Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems.  Note:  The POST Basic Certificate is required at time of application. Without the POST Basic Certificate at time of application the candidate will not be considered.  
 
Work Schedule: Public Safety Dispatchers work a 48 hours on/96 hours off schedule.
 
Compensation: Base Salary includes holiday, EMD, and FLSA pay. To qualify for holiday pay, you must be on a 56-hour schedule and to qualify for EMD pay, you must have passed the EMD course.

DUTIES

Receives and processes 9-1-1, emergency and non-emergency requests for assistance, evaluates the information provided and creates CAD system events; provides pre-arrival and post-dispatch instructions to the caller or relays information to other jurisdictions; processes and prioritizes incoming calls.

Dispatches Police/Fire and EMS personnel and equipment on both routine and emergency calls utilizing a CAD system, multiple video display terminals, radio dispatching consoles, and related equipment.

Monitors and maintains status of public safety personnel and equipment; analyzes situations accurately and takes effective action to help ensure officer and firefighter safety; handle the reassignment of fire equipment to ensure adequate district-wide fire protection.

Provides operational support for police, fire, and medical operations; facilitates outside agency assistance and mutual aid requests; as requested, enters, updates, and retrieves information from teletype networks relating to wanted persons, stolen property, vehicle registration, stolen vehicles; handles tow requests and other information.

DEFINITION

Responsible for the day-to-day responsibilities related to municipal traffic operations within the Town of Danville. Perform a variety of professional and technical level traffic and transportation engineering tasks, including traffic system planning, design and operation, and traffic control systems.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Transportation Manager.  May exercise supervision over additional professional, technical and/or support staff as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Conduct technical and administrative work in the functional areas of traffic operations, Downtown area, residential parking, and transportation planning and design.
• Manage the Town’s traffic signal and traffic control devices network in conjunction with the Transportation Manager.
• Serve as the public interface for matters related to traffic safety and circulation; develop and implement solutions with creative and professional use of acceptable traffic engineering standards. 
• Prepare traffic studies related to local traffic circulation and review traffic studies generated through the development review process, as directed.
• Review civil and public improvements plans for transportation related infrastructure.
• Review collision reports and prepare and maintain collision diagrams.
• Conduct and maintain Traffic and Engineering Surveys.
• Review and comment on traffic signal plans and assist with oversight of traffic signal construction and modifications, as directed.
• Work in collaboration with traffic signal maintenance personnel to manage and troubleshoot issues related to traffic signal operations/equipment and electronic traffic control devices.
• Monitor traffic signal network operations through the Town’s centralized traffic signal monitoring system.
• Serve as project manager for transportation-related Capital Improvement Projects and studies, as directed.
• Conduct special research projects, including compiling and analyzing information; develop recommendations on courses of action; deliver concise, effective presentations to the Town Council, Town Commissions and members of the public.
• Coordinate with Police Department personnel to respond to public concerns related to traffic safety and circulation and parking.
• Provide staff support to other departments, boards, and commissions as directed.
• Coordinate with regional transportation agencies on transportation projects and funding opportunities, as directed.
• Maintain current program content on Town websites.
• Prepare and manage professional services contracts.
• Research and stay current on traffic engineering and transportation planning regulations, practices and technology.
• Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Fundamentals of traffic engineering inclusive of multi-modal transportation applications and practices.
• Signs and pavement markings standards; intersection and roadway capacity practices; intersection design; residential street design and traffic control.
• Transportation impact study elements and preparation processes; traffic signal operations; on‑ and off‑street parking standards; traffic control devices; and pavement management.
• GIS, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office and general software applications.
• Traffic engineering-related software such as Synchro/SimTraffic, HCS, and Crossroads is preferred.

Ability to:

• Interpret plans and specifications; some GIS knowledge.
• Research and stay current on traffic engineering and transportation planning regulations, practices and technology.
• Prepare clear and concise written reports and correspondence, deliver presentations before the Town Council and members of the public, and facilitate meetings.
• Design and review traffic control plans.
• Establish and maintain effective professional working relationships with fellow employees and outside agencies in a team approach and the public.
• Work a varied schedule, including evenings and/or weekends, as needed.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience:

Five (5) years of increasingly responsible full-time experience or eight (8) years of part-time experience in traffic engineering, or closely related field, including drafting, surveying, and other specialized traffic training, licensure, etc. Background in transportation, planning, transportation engineering, or public administration in a community development environment is desirable. Public sector experience preferred. 

Education:

An Associate degree in transportation planning, transportation engineering, or closely related field. 

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATION(S)

Possession of a valid California State Driver's License, or license in another state with the ability to obtain a California license within 30 days of hire. Professional Engineer, Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, or California Traffic Engineers license is preferred. Valid Construction Zone Safety Certification. Valid Signs and Markings Certification.

The Department

The Position

The Quality Assurance Senior Program Coordinator oversees quality assurance activities of the behavioral health programs (Mental Health and Substance Use Treatment) for the Youth and Family Services Division and other divisions providing behavioral health services. The incumbent will perform routine audits of clinical client records, tabulation and reporting of audit results to individual programs, to ensure the programs comply with State Medi-Cal standards. This position is a core member driving the Human Services Department’s quality assurance and improvement processes in partnership with the department’s clinical and billing management team.

Examples of Job Duties

• Oversee clinical quality improvement processes and behavioral health record review.
• Develop internal audit processes to ensure compliance with state mental health and drug Medi-Cal documentation and timeliness requirements are met.
• Represent department at all county-based QA meetings/events and state conferences for larger system changes such as California Advancing and Innovating Medi-Cal (CalAIM) and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) services.
• Develop working relationships with county QA to provide continual improvements to City of Fremont work-flow and compliance issues.
• Review, gather and synthesize county policies, contract and documentation requirements to ensure compliance including Site Certification requirements.
• Develop training manuals/materials and evaluation processes to align with employee performance standards.

DEFINITION

Performs a variety of advanced technical and specialized accounting duties in the preparation, maintenance, and processing of accounting records and financial transactions. Analyzes accounting records to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to standards defined by federal, local, and state regulations as well as the Finance department. Trains and provides technical advice to lower-level accounting personnel, and performs related work as required. Works with a high degree of independence in performing accounting and financial activities.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Prepare and maintain payroll function for the Town; manage records for employee deductions; create reports and arrange payments to various taxing and financial organizations; and interpret and implement guidelines provided by other agencies related to payroll and deductions.
• Prepare quarterly and yearly payroll reports for federal and state agencies; responsible for capital asset accounting and reporting.
• Prepare journal entries and reconciles general ledger and subsidiary accounts.
• Makes wire transfers and journal funding transfers and reconciles monthly bank statements.
• Respond to inquiries from Town employees and vendors (if necessary) and explain processes and systems; compose correspondence as necessary.
• Review entries made to various financial records for proper coding and maintenance of appropriate accounting procedures; review cash receipts, business license, and accounts payable entries; prepare monthly health benefit and retirement benefit payments.
• Monitor and maintain Capital Improvement Program projects and grant activities; ensure compliance with stipulations and reporting requirements, and confirm data is recorded in the Town’s financial accounting system.
• Assists with the fiscal year-end close and fixed asset accounting, including prepare audit schedule.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual budget.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of:

• Accepted principles, techniques, and practices of governmental accounting, fund, accounting, auditing, and fiscal management.

Temporary Maintenance Worker – Parks & Roadsides 

Salary: $20.00/hour

DEFINITION 

Perform a variety of general maintenance services for parks and roadsides and other areas as assigned within the Town.   

• This is a part-time temporary, non-benefitted position. 
• Flexible schedule up to 29 hours per week, which may include weekend work; not to exceed 950 hours per calendar year. 
• The schedule for this position would be Monday-Thursday. 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED 

General supervision is received from the Maintenance Supervisor. May exercise supervision of Work Alternative Program participants as assigned. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES 

Essential duties are inclusive of, but not limited to the following:  

• Clean up trash in and around Town-maintained park and roadside areas. 
• Operate a variety of equipment, including: half ton and three-quarter ton trucks, Cushman and golf cart (or similar) vehicles, blowers and other two-cycle equipment, and hand tools (i.e., shovel, rake, hoe, etc.). 
• Periodically groom sports fields and bocce ball courts with equipment and/or machinery provided. 
• Prepare baseball fields and bocce ball courts for league play. 
• Assist Maintenance Services personnel on assigned projects.  

• Perform duties within OSHA standards. 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge of: 

• Construction and maintenance materials, methods, and terminology. 

• The use, purposes and maintenance of hand tools; and the operation of light and moderately heavy power-driven equipment in performing duties.

The City of Newark is seeking an energetic and committed Assistant Engineer, Assistant Civil Engineer, or Associate Civil Engineer to perform professional civil engineering work related to the planning, review, design, construction, inspection, and coordination of a variety of public works projects. The Skywalker Fire Brigade Fire Chief (FC) position will supervise, lead, and train the Skywalker Fire Brigade (Department). This is a management position for 9 employees that staffs one private fire station and has the opportunity to build and direct a motivated staff of firefighters. The Fire Chief will oversee three duty Captains and their projects, providing guidance and leadership for the organization. The Fire Chief will oversee daily schedules with regard to standard prevention activities, training, and special events. Oversee fire prevention inspections, lead vegetation management projects including pile burning, shaded fuel breaks, and interact with the property insurance agent and facilities manager for future projects. The Chief will represent the Skywalker Fire Brigade during county-wide meetings for Operations and Training. Skywalker Fire employees provide an extraordinary level of customer service and hospitality to Skywalker Properties' clientele. While this role operates within a Brigade fire department, the position itself is mostly comprised of prevention and training. The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Forestry Climber in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity care for and maintain trees throughout the City. You'll climb trees of various heights using belts, lines, and similar equipment, and you will use a variety of hand and power tools to prune, trim, and shape street and park trees.

You'll also help keep our parks and streets safe by removing dead or broken branches, clearing street lights and overhead wires, and removing stumps and roots. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:

Equivalent to graduation from a high school and one (1) year of skilled experience in tree climbing, topping, trimming and maintenance of a wide variety of very tall shade and park trees.

Other requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid California non-commercial (Class C) driver's license and have a satisfactory driving record. Must obtain and maintain a valid California Commercial (Class B) driver's license by the end of the probationary period and maintain a satisfactory driving record. Must be willing to work in tall trees and out of doors in all weather conditions. Must possess sufficient strength and stamina to lift and carry objects weighing up to 75 pounds and sufficient agility to perform job duties while working in tree tops or from ladders or hydraulic buckets.
