The City of Menlo Park currently has part time Program Assistant job openings in the following areas:

• Food preparation (sous chef) and inventory

• Programs for active older adults
• Recreation center programs 
• Gymnasium/sports programs 
• After school programs

The Department

The Library and Community Services department is responsible for providing excellent customer service through recreational, educational, and cultural programs for children, adults and seniors. Our facilities include 221 acres of parkland distributed among 13 parks, two libraries, two community centers, two public pools, three childcare centers, two gymnasiums, and one gymnastics center. Included in the parks and recreation areas are tennis and pickleball courts, dog parks, softball diamonds, picnic areas, playgrounds, soccer fields, a skate park, shared use of a performing arts center and open space.  The City of Menlo Park is preparing to open a state-of-the-art new facility that will incorporate a community center, gymnasium, aquatics center, senior center, youth center, and branch library in 2024.

Excellent opportunity to work in a dynamic theatre complex at the Bank of America Performing Arts Center.  The City is currently accepting applications for several part-time, hourly Staff Ambassador (Usher) positions in the Cultural and Community Services Department.

Primary responsibilities:

• Assist with locating seats, ticket-taking and patron relations
• Provide clear, pleasant, and courteous communication to patrons, promoters, and co-workers
• Resolve patron complaints
• Assist school children in loading/unloading in/out of buses and theatre complex
• May assist in the training of volunteer usher staff

PART-TIME RECREATION LEADER II/III
Recreation Division – Adaptive Program

Program hours are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from approximately 2:30 pm – 5:15 pm; additional evening and weekend hours as needed.

Level II - $16.97/hour     -   Level III - $18.04 – $21.24/hour

ABOUT THE POSITION
The City of Gilroy is recruiting for part-time Recreation Leaders II/III assigned to the Adaptive Program. The main goal of the City of Gilroy’s Recreation Division is to offer excellent recreation programs that provide community members with a wide range of opportunities to celebrate life and community through people, parks, programs, and special events which are delivered by a team of employees dedicated to offering quality recreational, social, and cultural services to all Gilroy residents. 
 
Under direct supervision of a Recreation Supervisor, the Recreation Leader II/III will assist, plan, organize, and lead the physical, recreational, and social activities of assigned recreation programs. Program area focus is Adaptive (Special Needs), but you might be asked to support another recreation area.

 When assigned to the Adaptive Program, the leader will have an opportunity to have hands-on experience working with a special needs population.  Disabilities of participants vary in range from non-communicative to diminished motor skills to severe autism.  The position will report to an experienced staff member.  As related experience is gained as noted in the job qualifications and requirements, and with the recommendation in the employee’s performance evaluation, Recreation Leaders can advance from Recreation Leader II to Recreation Leader III.  As the employee advances through the job series the employee will take on more responsibility and more challenging work assignments.

We are now hiring Recreation Specialists to provide hands-on support for a wide variety of programs including youth programs, recreation and sports programs, food preparation, and senior center programs for approximately 10-20 hours per week. This is an exceptional job opportunity for enthusiastic and responsible applicants to join the City of Menlo Park team and gain valuable work experience with an outstanding local government. This hourly, at-will, part-time (non-benefited) position offers paid work experience, a flexible part-time schedule, and on-the-job training and support. Shifts are available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.

The City of Menlo Park currently has part-time Recreation Specialist job openings in the following areas:

• Gymnastics programs for youth
• After school programs for youth
• Recreation center customer service
• Sports/gymnasium customer service
• Kitchen and food preparation

Recreation Specialists provide a variety of hands-on support activities to an assigned program or division. Recreation Specialists are expected to:

• Provide professional and courteous customer service at all times
• Provide hands-on operational support in City recreation centers, sports facilities, youth programs, and/or nutrition and food service programs
• Set up, arrange, and take-down furniture and equipment for classes, rentals, meetings, and special events
• Effectively use, learn and perform tasks on recreation software systems 
• Monitor the proper and safe use of City facilities by the general public and ensure adherence to rules and policies
• Ensure the cleanliness and safety of facilities throughout the day
• Demonstrate proficiency with word processing, data entry and organization

Depending on the specific work assignment, Recreation Specialists also are responsible for:

• Leading children in organized youth programs and activities
• Food preparation and food service in City nutrition programs.
• Handling money and electronic transactions
• Organizing class sign in sheets
• Monitoring, organizing, and running community programs
