Job Responsibilities:

• Performs high volume, high quality spay/neuter surgeries of shelter animals and owned animals including dogs, cats, and rabbits
• Determines the need for diagnostic procedures and medical treatments
• Provides high quality shelter medicine by performing physical exams, treatments, and surgical procedures on shelter animals
• Monitors and evaluates the shelter population for behavioral conditions
• Administers injections to humanely euthanize animals in accordance with California State Law and Department guidelines and policies

  • High volume spay/neuter
  • High volume herd health
  • Shelter medicine
  • Emergency triage
  • Community cats spay/neuter

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (These duties are a general description and are not all inclusive.)

• Develop and submit lesson plans including class content and material needs.
• Lead organized activities to develop and strengthen youth academic, recreational, and social skills.
• Plan lessons and activities so they are appropriate to students with various abilities.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECEIVED

General supervision is provided by a program coordinator or Recreation Supervisor. The Program Specialist may supervise a part-time aide and/or "counselor in training" in a classroom environment in daily activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

POSITION SUMMARY

The Wildfire Resilience Coordinator will manage projects related to the overall MRCA efforts regarding wildfire resilience, including tracking and analyzing existing funding sources related to wildfire preparedness and response, supporting staff project as defined by the early action wildfire resilience plan, coordinating with other MRCA and SMMC staff members working on wildfire related projects and programs, preparing and documenting further regional needs.

This position requires a highly motivated, responsible, organized and self-starting individual who can handle an array of tasks at the same time as part of standard workload, has good judgment and can make decisions, and works well independently and as part of a small team.

This is professional and technical work pursuant to the terms of grants, contracts, and applicable regulations, involving frequent communication with others. Project managers must also build community and political support, seek funding opportunities, actively cooperate with other government agencies and non­profit organizations, and keep abreast of related planning processes. The work performed will support MRCA’s capital Workprogram for wildfire resilience including improvements, workforce development, ignition prevention and suppression, inspection and monitoring and structure hardening and other MRCA efforts related to public access, open space conservation, habitat restoration, and urban park development. Special projects assigned or led by the Chief of Staff will be supported by this position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Oversee consultants and contractors, manage contracts, coordinate project team and collaborate with coworkers to ensure that the project scope is completed according to grant agreements, schedules, and cost limits. Assist in selection of consultants/contractors.
• Write and coordinate grant proposals and research new funding opportunities for wildfire resilience and workforce development related planning efforts.
• Cooperate with other team members to accomplish project goals; provide support to coworkers on other projects.
• Produce written materials including staff reports, text for publication, proposals, progress reports, and a variety of other documents.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position, occasionally move about inside the office to access supplies and office machinery, frequently communicate and exchange information, review handwritten, electronic and facsimile documents, observe site conditions, and operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The Seasonal Wildland Firefighter will protect agency parkland and resources and performs a wide variety of skilled park construction, maintenance, and patrol work; assists the public in natural resources interpretation and information; provides fire protection, suppression, vehicle and equipment maintenance. To protect visitors, park land and infrastructures and to insure a safe and peaceful environment for public usage.

This position reports to the Squad Boss of their assigned crew. Assorted tasks may be supervised by others in the leadership structure, including other Squad Bosses, Captains, and Chiefs as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Constructs and repairs park facilities such as fencing, restrooms, gates, kiosks.

• Perform heavy physical labor; including lifting and carrying items weighing up to but not limited to 90 pounds a distance of up to but not limited to 50 feet.
• Operate with substantial independence and coordinate work with others in completing assignments.
• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on agency vehicles and other equipment.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Individuals will be assigned to one of the three (3) crew schedules; Crew 2 (Wed-Sat), Crew 3 (Sun-Wed), or Crew 4 (Sat/Sun/Tu/Wed) shift, working 10 hours per day, 40 hours per week with some scheduling flexibility. Occasional overtime work in evenings, nights,  weekends, and holidays upon prior approval by supervisor. This position will work out of Holiday Camp Fire Station in Calabasas but may be required to travel to various other locations.

• Must pass the Wildland Firefighter Work Capacity "Arduous Pack Test" (iall candidates must perfrom the pack test administered by MRCA.  The Fire Division uses the pack test for basic physical and candidate assesstment.

• No prior fire experience is required, however is desired.

• Attend the 8hr RT-130 Annual Fireline Safety Refresher if already certified in the fire service, (Terms and conditions apply)
• Completion of BLS First Aid and CPR/AED, or obtain through MRCA when available
• Current National Registry EMT Certification is desired, but not required.

• Moderate proficiency with Office 365 and email, with particular emphasis on word-processing and spreadsheet programs is desired.

• Prioritize varying tasks and projects, and manage multiple projects at once.
• Work independently to handle multiple tasks under deadlines.
• Revise work approach to address changed conditions.
• Complete projects and follow oral and written directions.

Other Requirements

Candidates must have a valid California driver’s license in good standing with a satisfactory driving record. Employees must be willing to participate in agency emergency response, which can be anywhere within the state of California. Bilingual skills in English and another locally common language, such as Spanish, Korean, Farsi, Chinese, Armenian, Yiddish, or Tagalog is highly desired.

We are now actively recruiting for one (1) part-time Behavioral Health Advocate I position within our Wellness Center, Tri-City's community hub for activities that promote recovery, resiliency and wellness for people confronting mental health challenges. 

The Behavioral Health Advocate I position provides advocacy, guidance, feedback, outreach and support to help families to access and work more effectively with the systems involved.   These positions report to a Program Supervisor.

This position will perform the following essential duties, including, but not limited to:

• Provides peer to peer support services in the office and/or in the field including, but not limited to outreach, support, encouragement, guidance, advocacy, and referrals to external resources and services for clients and their families; builds rapport with clients and their families through sharing stories of lived experience and recovery.

• Encourages and supports clients to fully engage in services; provides outreach and assists clients in addressing and overcoming barriers to treatment.

• Prepares and facilitates a variety of wellness groups and group activities; monitors groups to ensure compliance with group rules and encourages client participation.

• Assists clients and families to understand behavioral health problems and steps to recovery.

• Serves as a role model to build and sustain connections and relationships with clients and the
  community.

• Accompanies clients to meetings and appointments to support their self-advocacy and facilitate better communication with service providers.

• Perform other duties as assigned.
