The City of Newark is seeking an experienced skateboarding instructor who can connect with participants of all ages, especially youth and teens. The Recreation Instructor will be responsible for the planning and implementation of skateboarding classes to be held at Mel Nunes Skatepark in Newark. Responsibilities include teaching fundamental techniques, promoting safety, and creating an encouraging environment where participants can build confidence and have fun while learning to skate.

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be Available for a variety of shifts and times to meet program needs including weekends.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the City of Berkeley Junior Public Works Engineer classification.

Class Characteristics

This entry-level classification in the Construction Inspector series reports to a Senior Civil Engineer through a Construction Coordinator in the Construction Inspection Section of the Public Works Engineering Division. It is characterized by the responsibility to learn and to inspect public works construction projects for compliance with codes and specifications. Incumbents' assignments, objectives and work methods are specified; issues of fact are referred to the supervisor; review of work is ongoing and responsibility for achieving work objectives rests with a supervisor. JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Other Requirements

Candidates must have a valid California driver's license in good standing with a satisfactory driving record. Employees must be willing to participate in agency emergency response.

Wages:

The range of hourly rates for an Administrative Assistant I is $19.01-$23.10.
