We are seeking a customer service-oriented individual with the competence and experience to address challenges with confidence and professionalism. The Plan Check Assistant performs a range of duties in reviewing and checking building construction plans (residential, commercial, and industrial) for compliance with all applicable State and City codes. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Read and interpret architectural and structural engineering plans to ensure conformance with the California codes, structural design codes, and local municipal codes.  

• Respond to inquiries from, and provide information to architects, engineers, contractors, building designers, homeowners, and the general public regarding project status, plan checking, and other code-related issues  

• Provide assistance at the public service counter (over-the-counter plan checking, code and permit fee questions)  

• Perform routine engineering analysis and calculations  

• Approve over-the-counter plan revisions to issued permits

The City of Thousand Oaks is seeking a forward-thinking and results-driven Budget Officer to play a pivotal leadership role in the Finance Department. This is a unique opportunity to shape the City’s financial planning and guide high-impact initiatives that support citywide service delivery and long-term fiscal sustainability.  

As the strategic leader of the City’s biennial budget process, the Budget Officer collaborates with all departments, provides key insights to executive leadership, and ensures transparent, data-informed decision-making. With the City currently implementing a new budget software, the successful candidate will take ownership of the system and be responsible for producing the final budget documents in both print and digital formats. As part of this effort, the Budget Officer will lead a refresh of the City’s performance measures, working with departments to integrate meaningful, outcome-focused metrics into the budget. 

The City is preparing to undertake a comprehensive ERP system replacement, and the Budget Officer will serve as a key member of the implementation team, helping to shape financial functionality and ensure a smooth transition to the new platform.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Budget Strategy, Development, and Reporting 

• Lead the development and administration of the City’s biennial Operating and Capital Improvement budgets  

• Lead the development and administration of the City’s biennial User Fees, Fines, and Penalties Schedule 

• Lead the development and administration of the City’s annual Cost Allocation Plan  

• Collaborate with departments to align financial resources with City goals and priorities 

• Develop multi-year financial forecasts and monitor trends to support long-term planning  

• Write clear, concise, and effective staff reports to communicate complex financial information to City leadership and the public 

• Prepare and present budget reports and other financial information for internal and external stakeholders 

System Implementation and Innovation 

• Take ownership of the City’s new budget software system and the development of the online and PDF versions of the Adopted Operating and CIP budgets  

• Streamline and improve the City’s Monthly Financial Report  

• Play a key role in the planning and implementation of the City’s future ERP system replacement 

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement innovative processes 

 Financial Reporting & Capital Management 

• Oversee capital asset budgeting and coordinate with departments on project funding and tracking  

• Analyze financial and operational data to provide insights and recommendations to executive leadership 

• Develop tools and reports to improve transparency and decision-making across the organization 

Leadership & Collaboration 

• Supervise and mentor direct report(s), fostering ownership, accountability, and professional growth  

• Serve as a trusted advisor to the Finance Director and senior management 

• Coordinate cross-departmental efforts and facilitate a collaborative, service-oriented budget process 

Communication & Training 

• Deliver clear and effective presentations to staff, senior management, and City Council on budgetary reports, issues, policies, and financial data  

• Lead cross-departmental training efforts on budget systems, financial procedures, and reporting tools 

• Translate complex financial concepts inaccessible information for non-financial audiences  

Glenn County is recruiting an individual to fill a full time position in the Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker I/II/III position performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled labor in the construction, maintenance and repair of County roads, bridges, and other related structures, and in various traffic control maintenance and  repair activities of the Public Works Agency; operates a variety of construction, maintenance and transportation equipment as necessary to complete daily tasks at the Glenn County Public Works Agency. The Public Works Maintenance Worker III position is the journey-level class in the series, and is distinguished from the Public Works Maintenance Worker II by the primary responsibility to operate heavy diesel and gasoline-powered construction equipment in the maintenance of roadways, drainage systems. 
 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Prepares roads for patch repairs, overlays, or chip seals; prepares mix for patching roads; repairs and reconstructs roads.
• Cleans roadsides and drainage systems; inspects and clears debris from drainage systems; conducts roadside burning as needed.
• Prunes trees and other vegetation as needed.
• Directs and controls traffic around work sites.
• Operates semi-trucks, dump trucks, water trucks, boom truck, front loader, rollers, snow plow, etc.; operates a compressor, sand blasters, jack hammer, chipper machine, welding equipment, cutting torch, compaction tools, weed eater, blower, and other hand and power tools.

This position is a working level civilian class in law enforcement, performing a variety of        non-sworn duties in support of law enforcement activities.  Incumbents may perform civil, code enforcement, and criminal services including a variety of routine to more complex non-sworn law enforcement and crime prevention work including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls for service and complaints, serving civil papers, providing court room security; and enforcing local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.  As a County Services Officer he/she will enforce Division 14 of the Agricultural Code of the State of California and enforce the County ordinance governing the animal and rabies control program, in an effort to maintain public safety and welfare.  This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Process and serve documents involved in civil actions including summons, complaints, claims of plaintiffs and orders; declarations and orders of examinations, Notice of Entries of Judgments, civil and criminal subpoenas, Notice to Vacate Rental Premise and process writs of execution including the preparation of orders for wage garnishment. Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

The Office Assistant II performs general clerical duties related to filing, reception, form processing, record maintenance, mail, typing or data entry; obtains and compares information related to department records, programs, and services; and performs related work as required at the Glenn County Health and Human Services Agency. Specific duties include collecting, sorting, scanning, posting, delivering and picking up mail, correspondence, and documents for all divisions of the agency, driving a van approximately 100 miles per day on a planned courier route within a specific time schedule. This position is scheduled for forty (40) hours per week.

JOB DUTIES

• Performs routine clerical work as required, which may include copying and filing documents, indexing, processing daily in-coming and out-going mail, faxing information, assembling materials, etc.
• Answers the telephone; provides information and assistance to callers or routes calls to appropriate staff person; takes messages as necessary. Greets and assists office visitors.

Upon successful completion of POST Academy, the position becomes a full-time probationary Police Officer position.

Under direct supervision, the Police Academy Recruit attends a basic Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) certified training academy to obtain the basic skills and fitness level necessary for the performance of Police Officer duties.  This position requires a thorough background investigation, psychological assessment, and a medical exam prior to appointment. This is the non-sworn, entry-level classification in the Police Officer series. Incumbents in this classification receive training in a controlled classroom environment.  Advancement to the sworn Police Officer position is based on meeting minimum qualification standards and satisfactory performance in the academy.

The Financial Management Analyst (FMA) I/II, under general supervision, provides financial and analytical support in planning, developing, and managing programs and projects, including budgeting, financial reporting, grants and contract administration, training, legislative analysis, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include conducting research, needs assessments, feasibility studies, and evaluations; recommending improvements to ensure accurate financial reporting; and developing complex accounting and financial systems. FMA I is entry-level, FMA II is journey-level, and FMA III is advanced journey-level in the classification series. This in-person position, located in Orland, CA within the Health and Human Services Agency, is full-time at forty (40) hours per week and is eligible to telecommute up to two (2) days per week.

Qualifications for consideration: 

• Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: 
  • Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized and technical training in the building and construction trades.
  • Two years of responsible experience involving the construction and maintenance of public works or water facilities, depending on area of assignment.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver’s license.

The Yuba County Probation is currently recruiting for the position of Deputy Probation Officer I/II.  Under general supervision, Deputy Probation Officers perform a variety of professional adult and juvenile probation duties related to case management, field monitoring and investigation, probation supervision, mediation, intake and other programs; coordinates probation activities with those of the Superior Court; ensures compliance with court ordered probation conditions through counseling; coordinates community resources to assist probationers to successfully complete the terms of probation; and performs related work as required. This classification is a flexibly staffed position in the protective services category in the professional Probation Officer series. As experience accrues, the incumbent performs with increasing independence and becomes a candidate for promotion after gaining experience and demonstrating proficiency, which meet the qualifications of the higher-level class and successful completion of the Probation Officer Core curriculum approved by the Standards of Training and Corrections.

 

Examples of Duties:

• Provide direct field supervision of clients including home, employment and school visits, weapons and contraband searches and chemical testing; ensure that conditions of probation are being complied with.
• Interview, investigate, verify and compile information and prepare reports regarding the personal, social, educational, financial, vocational, health and/or prior criminal history of probationers referred by law enforcement agencies, Court officials and social service, out-of-home placement agencies or juvenile support agencies; explain conditions of probation; prepare and explain goals to be achieved during probationary period; develop and present recommendations for case management upon intake or for actions in the event of violation of probation.
• Counsel and advise probationers and their families regarding pertinent personal, social, educational, financial, and vocational matters; provide or refer clients to appropriate support services for medical matters, mediation and crisis intervention situations; provide assistance in obtaining employment, entering school and resolving problems.

 

About Yuba County Probation Services:

The principal mandated tasks accomplished by Adult and Juvenile Probation Services are the preparation of investigative reports and sentencing recommendations for the Courts on criminal, diversion and probation actions, and the supervision of adult and at risk youth granted formal probation. Probation Officers also supervise clients released on Post Release Community Supervision and pursuant to Section 1170(h) of the Penal Code. Probation manages a variety of specialized adult and youth program elements. The adult programs include Drug Court, a pre-trial risk assessment unit, and a wide array of rehabilitative programming at the Yuba County T.E.A.M. Center. The youth program elements include a variety of programs, Probation and School Success Program, Juvenile Offender Work Program, Truancy Program, and the Thomas E. Mathews School.
