About this role

What You’ll Do

• Acts a liaison to build a positive working relationship with all youth user groups who use the athletic fields in San Mateo.
• Reviews all activities on San Mateo field’s including, youth user group games and practices, adult sports, private rentals and public drop in use.
• Interprets and enforces the field user policy and park policies to the public and sports user groups.
• Monitors park areas by foot to assist the general public and sports groups in the use of the park areas.
• Responds to inquiries and complaints and ensures safe use of the facilities.
• Documents all emergency and first-aid contacts.
• Reports possible safety hazards and/or unsanitary conditions to the Recreation Supervisor.
• Assist in keeping accurate records of forms, inventory and supplies
• Supports City or Department-sponsored events as required.

• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

THE POSITION
The City of Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and experienced Swim Team Coach for Campbell Wave Swim Team, ages 6-18 years old, at the Campbell Community Center. This position reports to the Aquatics Recreation Specialist. 

Salary Range: $17.00 to $25.00 per hour DOQ

Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule: Actual work schedule to be determined through mutual agreement with supervisor. Employee may be required to work weekends.

Location: Campbell Community Center, 1 West Campbell Avenue, Campbell

Responsibilities: 

• Swim team coordination with Aquatics Recreation Specialist;  
• Prepares and implements work-outs;
• Tracks and encourages team enrollment;
• Maintains various records;
• Organizes and attends swim meets;
• Evaluates stroke technique;
• Assists with budget preparation;
• Has thorough knowledge of emergency response protocol, risk management and emergency care
• Complies and enforces all City of Campbell and Campbell Recreation and Community Services Department policies and procedures.

In addition, the essential functions of employment include:

• Assistance in developing, organizing and supervising daily operations and practices;
• Assistance in evaluating Campbell Wave swim team program;
• Documentation including daily participant attendance;
• Planning, execution and evaluation of swim meet participation;
• Professional interaction and effective communication with children, swimmers and the general public.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum age at time of hire is 18 years old.
• Two (2) or more years of swim coaching experience
• Valid California Driver’s license.
• Current CPR certification.
• Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training certification.
• TB Clearance.
• Fingerprint clearance (Department of Justice background check). The City of Campbell will schedule fingerprint appointment and encumber cost upon hire.

Highly desirable, but not mandatory upon hiring: 

• Professional certification(s), including American Swim Coaches’ Association or USA
• Swimming Coaching, CPR, Safety Training for Swim Coaches or Lifeguard Training.

THE POSITION
Under the general supervision of the Campbell Community Center Supervisor, the Building Attendant oversees proper use and rental activity at the City of Campbell Community Center and other City facilities. The Building Attendant assignments include working special events at various City facilities. The Building Attendant performs basic custodial duties (moving tables, chairs, set-up AV equipment, set-up athletic equipment, moping, sweeping, empty trashcans, etc.), ensuring compliance of established rules and procedures for the use of the facilities. The Building Attendant work schedule is primarily during the late afternoon/evening hours Monday - Friday, and on weekdays (both day/evening shifts). Occasional week-day shifts may be available.

Salary Range: $15.50 to $18.00 per hour DOQ
Part-Time, Temporary Non-Benefited position

Schedule:  Approximately 8-20 hours per week, including evening and weekend hours

Responsibilities: 

• Provides customer service to community center renters, class instructors and the general public at the Campbell Community Center;
• Opens buildings for scheduled events, performs set-up/take-down of tables, chairs, portable staging, dance floors, AV equipment, and other set-up equipment; supervises evening and weekend activities at the Community Center;
• Performs custodial tasks (emptying trash containers, cleaning tables, chairs, and restrooms, sweeping floors, etc.) as assigned. 
• Are responsible for the security of the site, as well as providing good public and customer relations;
• Additional responsibilities, as needed, may be assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Must be 18 years of age and equivalent to high school graduation.
• Must have a valid California Driver's License. 
• Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, follow oral and written instructions, display courteous public relations, and demonstrate safety and good judgment. 
• Previous experience in recreation, building maintenance, or customer service work is preferred.

The Recreation Specialist is a unique position that is primarily responsible for specific projects or long term projects requiring relevant knowledge and expertise.

• Set up and maintain project files or computer databases as required
• Provide regular project updates including written reports to project leader in a timely manner

A Dance Instructor (Program Specialist) will plan, prepare and instruct recreation activities. Activities may include art, cooking, dance, pre-school program and other program areas. Programs are designed for children ages 4-17 (primarily 5-12) years of age.

Dance programs may include ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, folkloric, salsa, and rhythmic international styles.

• Develop and submit lesson plans including class content and material needs.
• Lead organized activities to develop and strengthen youth academic, recreational, and social skills.
• Plan lessons and activities so they are appropriate to students with various abilities.

• Evaluate and provide constructive feedback on the activities, camps and events

General supervision is provided by a program coordinator or Recreation Supervisor. The Program Specialist may supervise a part-time aide and/or "counselor in training" in a classroom environment in daily activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be a minimum of eighteen (18) years of age
• Different program areas will have different skills and knowledge requirements for the position; check with Recreation Supervisor. (For example: 6 ECE unites required for pre-school instructor)
• One school year teaching experience
• At least one year's experience working with children in an academic setting
• Must be willing and able to work days, nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Position: Program Leader I (Special Events) 

Salary: $19.49 - $22.57

Part Time / No Benefits

Hours: 8-30 hours per week 

Join our team of dedicated staff working in the special events division of Redwood City’s Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Department. Team members will assist in setting up, monitoring, and breaking down events all while providing excellent customer service.

Redwood City is known for delivering a large variety of high-quality special events year-round including concerts, festivals, cultural events, kids concerts, pop up recreational activities, and more. Duties for this position include, but are not limited to, the following: follow event plan and execute assigned duties effectively and efficiently; understand proper setup and breakdown procedures of special events equipment; maintain and care for equipment as necessary; monitor program areas for quality assurance; operate effectively as a member of a team;  report to supervisors orally and in writing; complete assigned paperwork such as timecards and incident and/or accident reports.
