The Position

The San Bruno Police Department is recruiting for Per-Diem Public Safety Dispatchers. The San Bruno Police Department has a long-standing tradition of small-town service with big-city dedication to public safety. Public Safety Dispatchers are responsible for public safety dispatch and related records management activities. This is a per-diem position. Shifts are offered based on staffing needs, and per-diem employees may choose the open shifts that are available. Available shifts may include day, swing, or graveyard hours, including weekends, and holidays. Public Safety Dispatchers perform a wide range of duties involving radio, telephone, and computers, applying various procedures and codes. Dispatchers receive and transmit emergency and non-emergency telephone and radio traffic as well as process communication reports, records, and radio logs, while maintaining a high level of confidentiality. Dispatchers may also support the Police Department by performing clerical tasks, training, assisting with fingerprinting, and being accountable for financial transactions. This position is integral in supporting the goals and objectives of the City and Police Department. 

Examples of Duties

• Receives and transmits emergency telephone and radio traffic.  
• Maintains and processes a variety of communications reports, records and radio logs.
• Operates a dispatch console, uses Computer Aided Dispatch (C.A.D.) System and other computer programs to process information and records.
• Maintains a high level of confidentiality.

• Performs collateral duties including a variety of related clerical tasks: process warrants; assist in fingerprinting and jail operations, which may include searching prisoners; and is accountable for handling cash, bond, and check transactions.
   

• Maintains various C.A.D and Record Management Files.
• Performs related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be able to pass an extensive background investigation.

Education

• Possession of a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Additional related college course work or degree preferred.

Experience

• Completion of a probationary period in a public safety agency.

Certificates and Licenses

• Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License, Class C with a good driving record.
• Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Basic Dispatch Certificate is required. 

Special Requirements

• Possess excellent vision and hearing skills, with ability to sit, talk, type, hear, and walk for extended periods of time as well as lift or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds.

Supplemental Information

Part-time temporary employees serve in an at-will capacity and understand that service with the City may be terminated at any time. This position does not provide any benefits, with the exception of paid sick leave. In accordance with the Healthy Workplaces, Healthy Families Act of 2014, all temporary, part-time, and seasonal employees, who on or after July 1, 2015, work in California for 30 or more days within a year from the commencement of employment are entitled to paid sick leave for prescribed purposes. Employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked and are entitled to use accrued sick days beginning on the 90th day of employment. Employees may use up to 24 hours (or 3 days) of accrued sick leave in each year of employment.

This position is a part-time, hourly, non-benefited classification limited to a maximum of 1,000 hours per fiscal year (or approximately 20 hours a week).

The General Maintenance Worker plays a vital role in keeping our communities and centers clean, safe, and visually appealing. This position focuses on a specific set of tasks tailored to meet the needs of the Recreation & Community Services Department, differing from the broader responsibilities of a full General Maintenance Worker under the Public Works Department. The Recreation Coordinator or Recreation and Community Services Supervisor is the key point of contact for this position, providing general direction and/or supervision.

1. Field Preparation: Assist t with basic field preparation for baseball and softball, including tasks like dragging the infield play area, marking chalk lines, and other essential setup activities.
    
2. Groundskeeping: Support keeping the exterior areas of community centers clean and presentable by removing trash and maintaining general tidiness. Assist with watering and care of indoor plants within recreation centers as needed.
    
3. Facility Cleaning: Perform light janitorial duties, including cleaning restrooms, fitness centers, and lobbies.
    
4. Events & Equipment Support: Assist with event setup and teardown once events are completed. Maintain special event equipment, furniture and supplies and promptly report any damaged or broken items to a supervisor for replacement.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS

The goal of the position is:

1. Learn about and reinvigorate the City's "The Food Front" food and agricultural economic development campaign. Help with scheduling key stakeholder meetings, running campaigns online, refreshing and improving webpages, and planning engagement events.

2. Lead community and civic engagement efforts, from supporting City Council Members with outreach to preparing materials for anything from possible Prop. 218 fee proposals to education around public programs. 

3. Become familiar with the City's multimedia platforms and help create content, including vertical videos, podcasts, employee highlights, promotions for Community Services programs, events, and initiatives, traditional door to door outreach materials, and more.

4. Research and observe the rollout of SB707 and assist staff with implementing its provisions related to participation and outreach.

5. Analyze performance data and existing marketing strategies used by the City, focusing on campaign objectives, target audiences, and content types.

6. Define and support community engagement efforts and highlight their importance within local government services.

7. Propose innovative and inclusive campaign ideas tailored to local demographics and community needs.

8. Support ADA compliance efforts by reviewing and improving accessibility of social media and website content.

The City of Woodland seeks a motivated public servant to join the City Manager's Office – Environmental Services Division as our Water Conservation Analyst Fellow. The Water Conservation Analyst will support key sustainability efforts by conducting a comprehensive analysis of municipal water usage and the City's response to leaks/over usage across public facilities. The Fellow will analyze five years of historical water consumption data to identify trends, anomalies, inefficiencies, and high-risk locations for water loss. A key focus of the project will be evaluating how the City currently tracks leaks and over-usage, how alerts are generated and routed, and how staff respond to those alerts. The Fellow will propose recommendations to improve leak detection, streamline response protocols, strengthen reporting systems, and reduce water waste supporting long-term water conservation goals.

IDEAL CANDIDATE
The Ideal Candidate will be interested in sustainability, municipal operations and public policy. They will also be analytical and detail-oriented, preferably with experience working with large datasets. They will be comfortable cleaning, organizing, and interpreting utility data. An individual skilled in Excel and/or data tools such as GIS, Power BI, Tableau, R, or Python will excel in this role.

The Ideal Candidate will be able to translate technical findings into clear, actionable recommendations and communicate clearly with internal and external customers (facilities staff, public works teams, and sustainability leadership).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The City of Woodland is seeking a motivated, resourceful self-starter to join the Community Development Planning team in a dynamic fellowship role that bridges municipal planning and historic preservation. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in core planning functions while contributing meaningfully to the preservation and celebration of the City’s historic character.

In this role, the Fellow will serve as a key point of contact for residents, property owners, and community stakeholders seeking information on general planning inquiries, zoning standards, and land use regulations. The position provides practical exposure to municipal planning processes, including development review, interpretation of zoning codes, and customer service within a public-sector framework.

A central component of the fellowship will be leading a comprehensive revamp of the City’s historic preservation education and outreach efforts. This includes researching and developing accessible educational materials, enhancing digital resources, and expanding community awareness of preservation programs and incentives. The Fellow will gain experience working with state and federal historic preservation documentation requirements and processes, strengthening their understanding of regulatory compliance and cultural resource management.

Additional responsibilities will include supporting GIS-based storytelling initiatives through interactive story mapping, assisting with webpage design and content updates to improve public access to preservation resources, and contributing to the coordination of the City’s Heritage Home Awards program.

They are eager to develop practical skills within a local government setting and motivated by the opportunity to contribute to projects that shape and celebrate the built environment.

Applicants should be a current student or recent graduate in Urban Planning, History, Public Administration, Architecture, or a closely related field. The successful candidate demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly explain complex zoning, land use, or preservation concepts to residents, property owners, and other stakeholders in an accessible and professional manner.

This individual is comfortable conducting technical research and collecting data to inform planning initiatives, policy analysis, and outreach efforts. Familiarity with tools and concepts such as GIS mapping (ArcGIS or QGIS), zoning analysis, site plan review, and urban design principles is highly desirable. The candidate should be capable of synthesizing information into concise summaries, visual materials, or presentations that support decision-making and community understanding.

Strong organizational skills and comfort with administrative tools, including the Microsoft Office Suite, standard office equipment, and multiline phone systems, are expected. The City of Menlo Park's Information Technology team is seeking a temporary IT Specialist who has a broad range of support skills to provide day to day computer/desktop support, end-point configuration and management, helpdesk support and management, and maintain and troubleshoot various systems hardware, software, peripherals, A/V, telephones and mobile devices. The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is seeking enthusiastic individuals who are passionate about working with the public and have a genuine interest in coaching and serving as positive role models in their community. This role involves teaching the fundamentals of various sports, as well as coaching, refereeing, and scorekeeping for both youth and adult sports programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Coach and referee youth & adult sports programs to maintain standards of play and ensure the safety of all participants.

• Teach and explain the rules and regulations of basketball, volleyball, baseball, etc.

• Confer with other coaches/referees, players and facility managers in order to provide information, coordinate activities, and discuss problems.

• Score keep or referee games as assigned.

• Maintain the gymnasium area including equipment and facility.

• Meet and deal tactfully and effectively with the public.

• Perform other job-related duties within the scope of this job classification as assigned.

WOODLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE HOST SITE
Woodland Community College is partnering with the City of Woodland to host two fellows as part of this year’s Civic Fellowship Program. The fellows will work on-stie at WCC and receive day-to-day guidance and supervision from WCC staff while remaining part of the fellowship cohort and participating in program-wide activities.

This posting is for the Community College Education Policy & Programs Coordinator within the Office of the President at Woodland Community College.

Typical work hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday; and 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Friday, up to 40 hours per week.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The Community College Education Policy and Programs Coordinator will support the implementation of Woodland Community College’s new Strategic Plan, with a focus on capacity building, student success, and socioeconomic mobility.

Housed within the Student Services Department, the Coordinator will advance strategic initiatives designed to strengthen student support systems, improve program coordination, and enhance outcomes for disproportionately impacted student populations.

The Fellow will work on a portfolio of projects and related events that may include:

• Analyzing student services data (retention, persistence, completion, utilization of support programs) to identify equity gaps and opportunities for improvement

• Research best practices related to student support programs (e.g., advising, basic needs, financial aid outreach, career services, transfer services)

• Supporting cross-departmental coordination efforts to align student services with strategic plan priorities

• Assisting in the design and implementation of new or redesigned initiatives that promote student success and socioeconomic mobility

• Supporting strategic plan events, stakeholder engagement efforts, and community partnerships

• Develop reports, presentations, training materials, and guides to support students

• Documenting processes and building tools to strengthen institutional capacity within Student Services

A key focus of the role will be translating strategic goals into actionable program improvements that enhance student access, persistence, completion, and post-college outcomes.

Receives general directions from the designated WCC host-site employee.

The Ideal Candidate is comfortable managing projects, timelines, and cross-functional collaboration across diverse stakeholder groups, including faculty, staff, administrators, students, and community partners. They communicate effectively in both written and verbal formats and can tailor messaging to varied audiences.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word are essential. The Ideal Candidate is highly organized, dependable, and capable of supporting multiple concurrent initiatives and related events in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

THE POSITION OBJECTIVES/GOALS
The goals of the position are to:

1. Develop Applied Policy Analysis and Program Evaluation Expertise
Build practical skills in analyzing higher education policies and evaluating program effectiveness within a community college context. Contribute to assessment efforts by reviewing data, identifying performance gaps, and supporting evidence-based recommendations to strengthen student outcomes.

2. Gain Hands-On Experience in Strategic Plan Implementation within Student Services
Support the operationalization of institutional priorities by assisting with initiative tracking, performance measurement, and cross-department coordination. Develop a working understanding of how strategic goals are translated into measurable actions within Student Services.

3. Strengthen Institutional Capacity-Building Competencies
Enhance skills in cross-functional collaboration, systems thinking, and process improvement. Participate in efforts to streamline workflows, improve service delivery, and reinforce structures that support long-term institutional effectiveness.

4. Advance Equity-Focused Student Success Strategies
Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives aimed at closing achievement gaps and improving access, retention, and completion for disproportionately impacted student populations. Develop an applied understanding of equity-centered program development in a public-serving institution.

5. Build Experience in Stakeholder Engagement and Institutional Communication
Support engagement efforts involving students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community partners. Gain experience in event coordination, briefing development, and institutional reporting to strengthen communication, transparency, and collaborative problem-solving.

QUALIFICATIONS

• 4+ years of high school
• Local Woodland knowledge preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail 
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to build and maintain trust-based relationships with multiple internal and external stakeholders 
• Eligible to work in the United States
• Valid California driver license (if driving is an essential duty)

SALARY RANGE
$20.00 - $25.00 / hour dependent on experience.
