Key Responsibilities:

• Provides information and referral services to residents within assigned site(s), including securing full range of social services as needed by individual residents.
• Maintains accurate and timely electronic documentation on all resident demographics, issues, requests, statistics, incidents, interactions and outcomes.
• Establishes constructive relationships with residents, community agencies, property management and related staff.
• Educates residents on service availability, benefits and other application procedures, tenant rights, tools for healthy living and lease compliance.
• Publishes building activities and events through flyers, newsletters and a monthly calendar.
• Leads a wide range of activities designed to build community and provide residents with opportunities for socialization, wellness, education and volunteering.
• Other duties as assigned by the management team.

The City of Newark is seeking an experienced water aerobics instructor with the ability to work with all ages, including but not limited to those over the age of 55. The Recreation Instructor will be responsible for the implementation and planning of water aerobics course to be held at the George M Silliman Community Activity Center.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Assistant Civil Engineer! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on capital improvement projects in the Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department or the Public Works Department. You will perform professional office and field civil engineering work related to the planning, design, construction and maintenance of these projects. This position requires a California PE license.

The Parks, Recreation & Waterfront Department maintains more than 50 parks and operates the largest public marina on the Bay. Engineers in this department work on projects at parks, community centers, recreation centers, the waterfront, pools, camps, and related facilities and infrastructure.

The Public Works Department supports the City’s extensive network of public infrastructure. Engineers in this department work on projects across the city that advance City initiatives such as the Climate Action Plan, Pedestrian Plan, and Vision Zero. Program areas within Public Works include Facilities, Sanitary Sewers, Sidewalks, Streets, and Storm Drains.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

A typical way of gaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position is:
Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university with major coursework in civil engineering and two (2) years of professional civil engineering experience in design and construction work at a level equivalent to the City of Berkeley Junior Public Works Engineer classification.

Other requirements include:

• Possession of a California State Certification of Registration as a Professional Engineer
• Possession of a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department is looking for Pool Service Technician for our fantastic swim lesson and aquatic programs, to work at the Silliman Activity & Family Aquatic Center. We are looking for someone to perform a wide variety of duties related to maintaining the City’s Aquatics facilities, pools, water slides and property. Swimming experience is desired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

• Applicants should be able to work at least 12-20 hours per week, year-round, including weekends and holidays, with mandatory trainings. 
• Please note that shift preference is not guaranteed and is based on the program's staffing needs and can change at any time. Please keep this in mind when/if you plan to attend school. 
• Example Schedule: Monday-Friday (12:00 pm – 4:00 pm) or Saturday/Sunday (9:00 am – 3:00 pm)

We are looking for positive, patient, motivated, self-driven individuals that have a passion for working in aquatics and with children, who wish to make a difference in a child's life by teaching them lifelong water skills! Swimming experience is required. Additional program training will be provided once hired. Those that are successful in the application review will be invited to attend an interview either in person, or via ZOOM and complete an in-person skills assessment. Please note that this position requires you to work in an indoor aquatic environment subject to warm/humid temperatures.

The Newark Recreation and Community Services Department seeks motivated, self-driven individuals passionate about working with the public. Customer Service Representative involves substantial contact with customers, program contractors, instructors, and staff, working in the café or as a birthday party host.  Various tasks may be assigned, from the front desk to facility setup/clean up. 

This position requires you to work at our indoor water park and recreation center.

You must be able to work 15-20 hours a week between 5:30 am and 9:30 pm.
