The County of Yuba is recruiting for both Extra-Help and Full-Time Juvenile Corrections Officers I/II, in an effort to fill current vacancies and expand staffing levels. These positions are located on the Tri-County Youth Rehabilitation Campus which falls under the Juvenile Institutions Division of the Yuba County Probation Department.  The primary responsibilities of this flexibly staffed position are to: provide care, custody, supervision, and control of youth housed in the secured detention facilities while they are pending legal action or serving a post adjudication commitment; ensure and sustain a safe and secure environment for youth; and coordinate counseling and behavior modification activities associated with the operation of the facilities.

About Detention Services & Yuba County:

Our Department believes people can change and we can be instrumental in supporting that change.  We are  a small workplace family that supports one another to accomplish our mission and allow our team members to live full lives outside the workplace. Our Campus provides youth detention services to the communities of Yuba, Sutter, and Colusa Counties as well as several contract counties through our Camp Singer program.  We operate 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and includes the Tri-County Juvenile Hall, Secure Housing Unit, and Maxine Singer Youth Guidance Center (Camp Singer), under a Joint Powers Agreement between the three counties. Our Department is the administrative agency responsible for the management and daily operation of the facility. The shared goal of facility staff is to provide youth with support and tools that will assist them with successfully reintegrating back into the community.  Staff are provided with state mandated relevant training, which includes youth trauma; crisis management; cultural competence; mental health awareness; sexual abuse and harassment; and proper use of force.    

IMPORTANT: 

• All qualified applicants will be  required  to participate in the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC), Correctional Officer & Probation Officer series exam. Additional details with specifics will follow after the  published application review date.

The Position, under administrative direction, oversees the activities of the Health and Human Services Health and Wellness Division which includes Behavioral health, Substance use disorder and Public Health. Assures compliance of department activities with department goals and objectives, state and federal laws, and county policies and procedures; and performs related duties as assigned.

Distinguishing Characteristics
This is an assistant department director classification that assists in overseeing and directing and participates in all activities of the Health and Human Services Department including short- and long-term planning as well as development and administration of departmental policies, procedures, and services. This class provides assistance to the Director of Health and Human Services in a variety of administrative, coordinative, analytical, and liaison capacities. Successful performance of the work requires knowledge of public policy, County functions and activities, including the role of the Board of Supervisors, and the ability to develop, oversee, and implement projects and programs in a variety of areas. Responsibilities include assisting in coordinating the activities of the department with those of other departments and outside agencies and managing and overseeing the complex and varied functions of the department. The incumbent is accountable to assist in accomplishing departmental planning and operational goals and objectives. This class is distinguished from the Director of Health and Human Services in that the Director has overall management and administrative responsibility for all Behavioral Health functions, programs, and activities.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Manages and directs the daily activities of the division through appropriate delegation, managerial support, and work supervision.
• Plans, prioritizes and assigns tasks and projects; directs the development of performance standards; approves promotions and terminations.
• Counsels, trains and coaches staff; monitors work, develops staff skills, and evaluates performance; identifies training needs and coordinates training for staff.
• Monitors operations and procedures; evaluates division and program issues, and recommends and implements solutions; develops and approves recommendations for improving the division’s operations and processes; assures that strategic goals are reached.
• Develops, evaluates and implements division goals, objectives, policies and procedures; develops systems and standards for program evaluation; assures division’s activities are in compliance with all laws, policies, regulations and goals.
• Analyzes trends, and evaluates program requirements and resource utilization; coordinates program planning and evaluation; coordinates protocols to effect integrated services with other programs, departments and agencies; responds to requests for information.
• Plans, develops, prepares, and monitors budget and expenditures for programs and services; assures that appropriate services are provided; coordinates information and assures effective communications between programs.
• Conducts research and strategic planning functions; analyzes trends and makes recommendations for staffing adjustments and personnel assignments; directs division projects including grants and capital projects.
• Prepares reports which summarize and forecast division’s financial activity and financial position; reviews division’s financial status and revenue trends.
• Serves as information source and liaison between the division and various state and regional organizations and agencies; serves on committees, task forces and other groups.
• Meets regularly with Program Managers for program updates; analyzes and evaluates issues and proposals, and recommends and implements solutions.
• Maintains and enforces all aspects of confidentiality of client information; monitors compliance to the standards of the Privacy Act of 1974, {U.S.C. § 552A} as amended.
• Develops and enhances cooperative professional relationships with local community agencies.
• Provides consultation and training to other organizations in the community on behavioral health, substance use, or public health issues; conducts presentations and training to county staff and the public to introduce and communicate the roles and functions of the health programs.
• Maintains expertise in field of service through participation in applicable educational opportunities.
• Acts in the place of the Health and Human Services Director during Director’s absence or as assigned.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

The Yuba County Sheriff’s Department is currently accepting applications to establish an eligibility list for the classification of Correctional Officer.  Under continuing supervision incumbents perform a wide variety of support in two areas: corrections, in which incumbents ensure the security, safety and care of individuals in custody; and bailiff, in which incumbents ensure the safety and security of the courts and their personnel during court proceedings; and perform related work as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to either County Jail security or Court security. 

About the Sheriff’s Department :

The Yuba County Sheriff's Department is responsible for the administration of the Yuba County Jail and Jail staff. The Mission of the Yuba County Jail is to provide safe, efficient, humane and secure custody of all persons incarcerated. The county prisoner population is made up of those who are sentenced to county jail, those serving state prison sentences in the county jail under AB109, and those who are pre-trial and who have not yet been sentenced. The jail provides a necessary link in the criminal justice system. There are numerous programs operating within the facility including medical, kitchen, exercise, commissary, visiting, law library, inmate education, work programs, work furlough program, and inmate classification.

Under direct general supervision, performs a variety of skilled mechanical repair, preventive maintenance work, and overhaul of heavy and light vehicles and equipment; and performs related duties as assigned.

The City of Marysville is excited to be looking for our next Building Inspector I/II!  The application window is August 20, 2025 at 8:00 am until September 10, 2025 at 5:00 PM. 

Under the general direction of the City Building Official, performs inspections of residential, commercial, public works, infrastructure, capital improvement, and private development construction projects to enforce relevant codes; provides enforcement and interpretations of all state and local building codes and the relation and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures the life, health and safety of the citizens of the City as it relates to construction, use and occupancy of all structures; serves as the principal enforcement officer of the building and housing codes including ordinances and provisions for dangerous buildings and derelict structures; works collaboratively with other departments, individuals and agencies to proactively reduce the number of dangerous buildings and derelict structures in the community.

• Conduct building plan reviews and proposed construction for code compliance.
• Conduct field building inspections and issue correction notices for building code compliance.
• Conduct inspection of public works, infrastructure, capital improvement, and private development construction projects for workmanship and conformance with approved plans, specifications, contract provisions, safe working practices, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Air Quality, and/or OSHA requirements.
• Assist the public in providing building code and municipal code information both In the field and at the counter.
• Assist in issuing permits and maintain inspection records.
• Issue correction notices to individuals in violation of established building, sanitation, and related codes.
• Establish and maintain tracking documentation for each violation.
• Receive, document, and investigate complaints concerning noncompliance with building ordinances.
• Identify and abate dangerous and derelict structures in the community by proactively enforcing state and city ordinances.
• Initiate investigations based on analysis of preliminary information.
• Contact individuals and discuss possible violations, alternatives for solving noncompliance problems and time periods for correcting them.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

The County of Yuba is actively recruiting to fill current vacancies and establish an eligibility list for the position of Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Sheriff’s perform a wide variety of patrol officer and related duties required to effectively respond to and resolve the normal scope of peace situations, including the protection of life and property, enforcement of laws and ordinances, criminal investigation, report writing, crime prevention and suppression, case preparation and testimony, and providing information and assistance to the public and perform related duties as assigned. Incumbents may be assigned to a specific geographic area for patrol, investigations, crime prevention or other peace officer-related functions. 

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.

This position performs a variety of work in the monitoring of county, state and federal detainees and maintains the security and safety of inmates and staff.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Performs booking procedures, including receiving, booking and assigning prisoners to cells; performing body searches; fingerprinting, and photographing prisoners, etc.
• Maintains custody of prisoners’ private property.
• Maintains the safe and orderly operation of the County jail facility; monitors security cameras and door warning lights; screens and monitors visitors. Inspects all of inmates’ incoming and outgoing mail and telegrams.
• Inspects facilities regularly.
• Monitors the condition and activities of prisoners.
• Prepares prisoners for court appearances; provides transportation as necessary.
• Administers First Aid in emergency situations.
• Performs general office work, including but not limited to entering computer data, copying and filing documents, etc.
• Prepares and submits required records and reports.
• Performs related duties as assigned.

This position will perform a variety of responsible law enforcement and crime prevention work, including patrolling assigned areas, answering calls and complaints, investigating crimes, serving civil papers, and providing court room security; enforce all federal and state laws and local ordinances related to public safety and welfare.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Performs routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the County; responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance; investigating disturbances, prowlers, burglaries, thefts, vehicle accidents and other crimes; checking buildings for physical security, etc.

• Works with other law enforcement agencies in matters related to the investigation of crimes and apprehension of offenders.

• May serve as special duty officer as assigned, including responsibilities such as serving on the narcotics task force, serving as Deputy Coroner, providing court security, serving as school resource officer, serving as K-9 handler, serving on gang task force, etc.

• Participates in other special projects and programs as assigned.

• Performs duties related to crime prevention and community relations.

• Performs general administrative work, including but not limited to attending meetings, preparing correspondence and reports, entering computer data, maintaining files, answering the phone, etc..

REPORTING RESPONSIBILITIES
Receives general supervision from and reports directly to the General Manager and his/her
designated representative.

ESSENTIAL AND IMPORTANT DUTIES

• Composes correspondence independently or as directed; prepares letters, reports and other finished copy from rough draft and marginal notes; reviews, formats, and edits general correspondence for the General Manager, Finance Officer, Claims Administrator, and other personnel, ensuring proper formatting, grammar, and punctuation.
• Attends Board of Directors meetings, takes and transcribes minutes. Prepares meeting agendas and Board packets. Posts meeting notices, agendas and minutes to various locations and website.
• Coordinates and schedules a variety of meetings and other events/activities, tracks number of attendees, coordinates site locations, and arranges for necessary supplies and refreshments.
• Maintains and updates a variety of agency files, records, lists, and databases. Enters data/information into Risk Management Information System, to maintain and update data/information. • Receives, opens, time stamps, and distributes incoming mail.
• Receives and reviews invoices, identifies appropriate general ledger code, enters information into system, generates checks for payment of invoices, obtains necessary signatures, and mails payment to vendors.
• Answers multi-line telephone, screens callers/customers, responds to questions and provides general information regarding. Refers callers/customers to the proper individual for handling when appropriate.
• Monitors, maintains, and updates information on the Authority’s external website and intranet. Ensures that information is accurate and current and provides feedback and updated information to the webmaster.
• Gathers and compiles data and information for general purposes and/or special reports or projects such as the annual report; contacts other divisions, employees, agencies, and individuals for additional material, as necessary.
• Operates a variety of office equipment, including copiers, scanners, fax machines, computers, and printers.
