Citrus Heights Water District is seeking a Construction Inspector / Senior Construction Inspector to join our team. The selected candidate will be placed in either classification, depending upon the applicant’s qualifications.

This position is a key member of the District’s Engineering department, playing an essential role in inspecting the construction of water distribution system improvement by contractors and by private builders and developers. • The Construction Inspector is an entry-level class in the Construction Inspector series. Positions in this class typically have little or no directly related work experience and work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks. The Construction Inspector class is distinguished from the Senior Construction Inspector level by the performance of less than the full range of duties assigned to the Senior Construction Inspector level. Incumbents work under immediate supervision while learning job tasks, progressing to general supervision as procedures and processes of the assigned area of responsibility are learned. 
• The Senior Construction Inspector is the journey-level class in the Construction Inspector series and is distinguished from the entry-level class by the assignment of the full range of duties. Employees at this level receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new, unusual, or unique situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies within the work unit. Positions in this class are flexibly staffed and are normally filled by advancement from the Construction Inspector level once the incumbent meets the qualification standards of the Senior Construction Inspector level, demonstrates an ability to perform the full scope of the work, and meets performance standards.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Education:

• Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent. 

Experience:

• Two (2) years of increasingly responsible support experience with a public agency working in building inspection, planning, or engineering or equivalent private sector experience with a high level of public contact and experience explaining procedures and regulations.

License:

• This classification requires the ability to travel independently within and outside of City limits.
• Possession of a Building Permit Technician certification from the International Code Council within the probationary period and throughout employment.

DEFINITION

The City of Orinda Planning Department seeks a responsible and enthusiastic college student or recent college graduate to assist the Department with a variety of tasks.  The ideal candidate will have interest in local government, be able to work both independently and collaboratively, and represent the City in a manner that is professional, effective, and tactful.  Working a flexible schedule of up to 20 hours per week, the Planning Intern will perform responsible work in the areas of both current and long-range planning.

The Planning Intern will be paid on an hourly basis for actual hours worked - up to a maximum of 20 hours per week.   

TYPICAL FUNCTIONS

• Responds to public inquiries regarding zoning and related matters on the phone, via email, and at the Planning Counter.
• Conducts field work, including Planning Final Inspections, site visits, and code-enforcement.
• Assists staff in collecting and preparing data for various planning projects and provides support at community meetings as necessary.
• Conducts basic office functions such as data entry and file management.
• Researches and prepares routine graphic displays/exhibits for use by the Department, Planning Commission, and City Council.
• Drafts reports of limited or variable complexity.

Required Qualifications:

• Strong communication (written and oral), research, and analytical skills.
• Competency in basic computer programs/applications such as Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Box, etc.
• Basic understanding of planning principles.
• Ability to work in a standard office environment including ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, twist, and lift 30 lbs.
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and an occupational medical pre-employment physical exam which includes a pre-employment drug screen.
• Ability to obtain a valid California Driver's License.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Coursework and/or experience with aspects of urban planning, long-range planning, urban redevelopment, public policy, civic engagement, stakeholder participation, and governance.
• Ability to remain flexible and work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse and dynamic environment.
• Ability to learn fast and adapt quickly without comprising the quality of work.
• Competency in ESRI ArcGIS.

AHA is seeking a Facilities and Maintenance Technician I to perform a range maintenance and alterations on Housing Authority buildings and facilities, HVAC, and other electrical and mechanical systems; identifying and evaluating construction-related problems; performing installation and repairs on plumbing systems; conducting property inspections, and coordinating with vendors on maintenance replacement and repair projects. POLICE OFFICER - Academy Graduate - $8,134 to $11,030 per month (up to $12,684 with incentives)

The City of Pleasant Hill is currently seeking applicants for Police Officer Academy Graduate. We offer excellent pay, benefits, opportunities for promotion, as well as the opportunity to serve a great community that values the services we provide.

Police Officers can serve in patrol, traffic, investigations, and K-9 assignments. Other collateral opportunities include instructor positions (Firearms and Force Options Team), Regional SWAT, Mobile Field Force, 10851 Task Force, CSI, Regional Major Accident Investigation Team, Driving Team with firearms and force options team, Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), FBI Safe Streets Task Force, SET Team, Drone Team, Social Media Team, Community Resource Officer, School Resource Officer, and Field Training Officers. Specialty assignments may add an additional 5% pay. 

Officers work 12-hour shifts as part of a team concept. Shift schedules include 4-10 and 3-12, which may be changed periodically as job assignments may be rotated among patrol, traffic, and criminal investigation.  Night shifts include 5% additional pay. 

EDUCATION:

Academy Graduates (no sworn experience) - High school diploma and a minimum of 45 units of college-level course work, in addition to graduation from a P.O.S.T. basic academy.

Academy Graduate candidates with an honorable discharge may be credited with up to 15 semester units for a minimum of 3 years of active duty in the U.S. Armed Services (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard).
