POSITION DETAILS:

• Salary range $37.94 to $48.60 hourly with Excellent Benefits (see below)
• Regular full-time position, with the option of a 9/80 work schedule (every other Monday or Friday off)

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:

Education/Training:

Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized training in wastewater collection system maintenance or a related field.

Experience:

Four years of wastewater collection system maintenance experience including one year of administrative or lead supervisory responsibility.

License or Certificate:

• Possession of , or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid California Class B driver's license with Tanker endorsement within the probationary period. 
• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Water Environment Association Grade III Certificate within 18 months of employment.

DESCRIPTION  

The City of Thousand Oaks is excited to announce the creation of a new Engineering Division Manager position within the Public Works Department. This newly established role, has been created to further strengthen our commitment to infrastructure excellence and service. Unlike similar roles in the City, this position has not been previously filled and offers a unique opportunity to shape and lead a critical division focused on engineering and construction of the City’s critical infrastructure. Depending on the qualifications and experience of the selected candidate, this position will be responsible for overseeing complex engineering projects related to the City's water and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring the continued reliability and advancement of these vital systems. 

The Public Works Department is seeking an innovative and proactive Engineering Division Manager who will be responsible for leading and managing the design, engineering and construction management to advance and protect the capital investments in the City’s critical public infrastructure.    

 

PRIMIARY RESPONSIBILITIES 

• Provide leadership to direct engineering and project management activities to advance challenging and comprehensive engineering capital projects.  

• Provide strategic and tactical planning by leveraging knowledge of engineering while aligning with the City’s overall goals.  

• Drive continuous improvement through innovation and optimization of processes and procedures.  

• Have extensive team building skills, be results oriented, and be a seasoned project manager with strong management skills.  

• Work cooperatively with all City departments.

The City of Thousand Oaks has an excellent opportunity for a motivated team player to provide analytical, technical assistance, planning, and project-level support to administer and enforce the City’s Cross Connection Control Program.  Additional responsibilities may include assistance with regulation tracking and reporting, and provide a variety of other programmatic support related to the City’s drinking water and pretreatment (wastewater) programs.

Under the direction of the Water Quality Supervisor in the Environmental Compliance Division, the Assistant/Associate Environmental Compliance Analyst (Analyst) plays a critical role in protecting the City’s drinking water supply. This position is primarily responsible for developing and administering the City’s Cross Connection Control Program while ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

We are seeking a collaborative self-starter to handle a range of responsibilities with competence and professionalism. The Analyst should demonstrate discretion and independent judgment, possess strong organizational skills, and have a proven ability to meet strict deadlines. The role requires handling sensitive issues with care and having excellent communication and interpersonal skills while working with the public, regulators, other City departments and other municipal agencies.

With additional experience, the Analyst may also provide analytic, technical, programmatic, and administrative support to a broader range of responsibilities within the Environmental Compliance Division, including other drinking water-related regulations, stormwater quality compliance and wastewater pretreatment.

The position will be filled at the Assistant or Associate Analyst level, depending on relevant prior education and work experience.

Primary responsibilities:   

• Implementing the City’s Cross Connection Control program and assist with the day-to-day operations and activities of the Environmental Compliance Division
• Conduct Cross Connection Control program field inspections of commercial, industrial, and residential facilities for Hazard Assessments
• Maintain, review and update related databases
• Review construction and plumbing plans for compliance; identify potential contamination risks
•  Enforce corrective actions with residents, business owners, and stakeholders
• Analyze and provide recommendations for updates to program-related municipal code
• Serve as a liaison to regulatory agencies and internal departments
• Keep current with evolving regulations and industry best practices
• Prepare and present technical staff reports for the Public Works Department, City Council, and other stakeholders
• Analyze and interpret data to determine operational needs, identify solutions to address problems, and provide recommendations
• Assist in developing, negotiating, and monitoring assigned contracts and agreements with service providers; ensure work complies with contracts and agreements and are within budget
• Assist in the planning and coordination of projects from start to finish and ensure efficient management of multiple project plans to meet deadlines
• Work independently and as a valuable team player on special projects by organizing, researching and coordinating information and requirements; planning, arranging, and meeting schedules
• Coordinate meetings and events, including community outreach
• Provide administrative and technical support to the Environmental Compliance Division related to Drinking Water and Wastewater Pre-Treatment programs.

We are seeking a hands-on, mechanics and electronics savvy Instrumentation Technician to join our Public Works Sanitation division. This position maintains, repairs, inspects, plans, modifies, designs, installs and calibrates instrumentation, electrical, and SCADA control systems for wastewater treatment facilities; maintains a spare parts inventory; and trains operations staff in the understanding of instrumentation and control systems related to the process operation.

Details:

• Full-time regular position, 9/80 schedule with every other Monday or Friday off.
• Salary range $35.80 to $45.70 hourly with Excellent Benefits.

Our Minimum Qualifications for consideration are:

Education: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by college level course work in electronics or a related field.

Experience: Two years of increasingly responsible experience in the maintenance, repair, fabrication and installation of instrumentation systems in a wastewater treatment system, water distribution, water processing, or other industrial process control environment.

The City of Marysville is seeking qualified candidates for the position of a Public Works Director; this recruitment will fill 1 vacancy and create an eligible list.  

Reporting directly to the City Manager, this position is responsible for executive direction, strategic leadership, and management of the Public Works Department, including City maintenance workers and capital improvement projects. 

As the principal administrator of the Public Works Department, the Director; plans, organizes, directs, reviews and manages all department activities and functions including Engineering, Parks and Recreation, Streets, Public Facilities, Wastewater Treatment/Sewage, and Storm Water Management.

The Director also coordinates departmental activities with other City departments, outside agencies, community groups and individuals; and provides highly complex professional advice and support to the City Manager and City Council; assures department compliance with and enforcement of applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and codes; manages and supervises staff; serves as a member of the City’s Executive Team.

REQUIREMENTS

Education and Certification

Education: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Engineering, Construction Management or similar major.

Licenses: Possess valid California Class C Driver’s License.

Experience

Incumbents must have a minimum of three (3) years of managerial experience directly involving municipal services such as public works, public utilities, capital improvement project management, parks maintenance and management, and/or street and facilities maintenance.
