Lateral Candidates:  Completion of POST approved Basic Academy and actively employed by a California Law Enforcement Agency as a Peace Officer within the past 12 months, has successfully completed probation, and possesses a POST Basic Certificate of at least 800 hours. 

SALARY:  $8,814.69 - $9,255.41 - $9,718.17 - $10,204.08 - $10,714.28 per month. Appointments to this classification are normally made at the first step of this five-step salary range.  Candidates are also eligible for additional salary incentives including Holiday Pay, Education Incentives, and other special assignment pays.

SELECTION PROCESS:

Applications will be screened for completeness.  After an initial screening of applications, those applicants that meet the minimum qualifications and appear to best meet the Department’s need will be invited to participate further in the recruitment process and will be contacted for an oral panel interview.   Candidates must receive a score of 70% or higher on the oral interview exam to be placed on the initial eligibility list.  A limited number of candidates from the eligibility list will be invited for an interview with the Police Commander and Police Chief.  Depending upon the number of candidates in each recruitment set, this process may be altered.    After a mutual interest has been established, a thorough background investigation will be conducted, including fingerprinting and a polygraph.  Upon successfully passing the background investigation, candidates must successfully complete a psychological evaluation, a medical evaluation, and provide proof of legal right to work in the U.S. prior to appointment.  The Police Chief will make the final recommendation for appointment.

THE POSITION:

The City of San Rafael Police Department is seeking to fill the full-time exempt position of Senior Management Analyst II (Advanced Professional Temp). This is a three (3) year fixed-term position, with the potential to be extended dependent on available funding and job performance.  This is an “at will” position with benefits available.  Employment may be terminated with or without cause or notice, at any time by the City of San Rafael. 

 The Senior Management Analyst (Advanced Professional Temp) will support the work of the newly formed Police Advisory and Accountability Committee (PAAC).  

This position performs the following essential job duties (including but not limited to):

• Manages community concerns of the PAAC.
• Supports the public meeting process including coordinating agenda items for public meetings, memorializing meeting minutes and any actions taken by the PAAC.
• Supports the PAAC Chair in the facilitation of the meeting process for this new committee. 
• Analyze, research, and prepare reports based on data analysis.
• Assess and examine public safety best practices.
• Provides administrative support between meetings and in preparation for public meetings.
• Performs related duties as required.

To be eligible for this position, you must have knowledge of:

• Principles and practices of local government and public administration.
• Methods of research, program analysis, and report preparation.
• State legislative procedures.

• Public relations and relationship building.

DUTIES:

• Performs all functions of a police officer assigned to patrol, investigations, or administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school. Additional education at a community college or university level course work in criminal justice and/or a related field is highly desirable.

THE POSITION  

The City of Redwood City is currently accepting applications for entry level Police Officer candidates who are either currently attending, have recently been accepted to, or have successfully graduated from an accredited California P.O.S.T. Academy, and have less than one year of sworn law enforcement experience.    The Redwood City Police Department offers many opportunities for learning and long-term career growth in a city comprised of diverse residential and business communities. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:

• Completion of 30 semester units from an accredited college or university (60 units or more is preferred). REQUIRED: Attach a copy of college transcripts to application.

License or Certificate: 

• Valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record.

Other Requirements:

• Currently enrolled in or have successfully graduated from an accredited California P.O.S.T. approved basic academy (or California P.O.S.T. approved equivalent).
• Physically capable of passing the California P.O.S.T. medical examination job requirements.
• Meet all regulatory requirements for becoming a Peace Officer with a California P.O.S.T. agency.
