DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver classification is the entry and first working level of this series.

Incumbents drive a District vehicle along an assigned route. The Senior Warehouse Worker/Delivery Driver classification performs the more complex warehousing and record keeping duties and participates in the shipping, receiving, storing and issuing of District supplies, equipment, mail and food. • Responds to inquiries from the public by providing information regarding the General Plan, the Zoning and Subdivisions Ordinances, and statistical data.
• Provides content for Department website.
• Reviews building permit applications for compliance with applicable planning regulations.
• Receives and reviews land use permits, design review applications, zoning, and General Plan amendments for conformance with the General Plan, Zoning, and Subdivision Ordinances and other requirements; and prepares staff reports recommending appropriate action.
• Conducts environmental review including preparation of initial studies and negative declarations, technical and administrative support on the preparation of Environmental Impact Reports and staff reports on all phases of environmental review.
• Performs detailed planning studies, research, and analysis to support development of long-range policies and plans, as well as implementation ordinances for the City’s growth and development.
• Prepares and analyzes various professional planning studies including, but not limited to, demographics, traffic, and historic resources.
• Prepares General Plan elements such as the Housing Element by drafting and finalizing plan documents; researching materials and making presentations to committees, the Planning Commission, and the City Council.
• Prepares reports and studies and represents the department before the public, other agencies, and developer representatives.
• Attends and participates in meetings of the Planning Commission, City Council, special committees, and neighborhood groups.

The District is looking for a Plant Operator Grade III to help operate and maintain our wastewater treatment and recycled water facilities. In this role, you’ll inspect, monitor, and maintain plant systems and equipment to ensure reliable and compliant operation. You’ll work independently, use sound judgment in daily activities, and respond to unusual or emergency situations as needed. Under the general direction of the General Manager, the District Engineer plans, organizes, and manages all engineering activities for the District, including design, project and construction management, inspection, and review of public and private improvement projects. This role ensures compliance with District standards and all regulatory requirements while providing technical and strategic support to the General Manager and Board on capital projects, treatment processes, and infrastructure optimization.

The position oversees staff, consultants, and contractors; administers budgets and contracts; manages the Capital Improvement and Renewal & Replacement programs; and serves as project manager or engineer-of-record for major projects. Responsibilities include developing engineering policies and procedures, conducting technical studies, ensuring regulatory compliance (including CEQA), and maintaining accurate records of facilities and property rights.

The District Engineer represents the District in meetings with agencies, developers, and the public and plays a key role in advancing long-term infrastructure planning and operational efficiency.

ABOUT THE POSITION

About the Position: The Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) seeks a Public Affairs Intern to assist with a variety of tasks, including researching and writing for Midpen print and digital publications, creating web and social media content, representing Midpen at community events, working with community partner organizations, managing photo databases, drafting media advisories and press releases and other duties as assigned. This internship will provide valuable training in public affairs strategies and activities. This position reports to the Public Affairs Specialist leading media relations, with additional assignments from other communications project/program leads. The expected start date for this position is March 2026.

Basic Requirements: Internships are open to applications from current students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months). Successful candidates will have a background in public affairs, communications, public relations, marketing, policy and government, journalism, community relations, customer service or a similar field. Candidates who also have experience, knowledge of or an interest in natural history and sciences, environmental studies, parks and open space or interpretation would benefit from this internship. Experience with social media platforms and tools, website content management systems, event management and email marketing platforms are a plus. Possession of a valid California driver’s license is required. 

 Working Conditions/Schedule: The Public Affairs Intern will work at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, CA.  Midpen offers a hybrid work environment for this position, and will be divided between on-site work at the Administrative Office in Los Altos, at-home office work and some outdoor work. Candidates should expect to work from the office a minimum of 2 days each week. This position will be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed for in-person special events. The intern will be required to work the weekends of April 18 & 19, April 25 & 26, May 2 & 3 and June 6 & 7. This is a temporary position working 20 – 40 hours per week, which will extend up to a total of 950 hours over a 6-9 month period. This is a non-benefited position.

THE POSITION Under general supervision, this non-sworn, non-peace officer position performs assignments involving responsible public contact work in crime prevention and delivers non-emergency police services; to include Public Safety (emergency/non-emergency) Radio Comm for Police & Fire responders; also performs related duties as required.

 

Prerequisites / Qualifications 

This is the entry-level position.   Applicants must be 18 years old at time of application, have no felony convictions, have the ability to learn and understand radio and statue codes, understand policy and procedures written in English, function without close supervision, work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays, and lift and transport various objects.  

 

Education / Experience

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year of experience in a clerical of similar position; college credits in criminal justice or communication preferred. 

Licenses / Registrations / Accreditation / Etc. 

Possession of a Valid Class C California Motor Vehicle Operator License; A 35 WPM Typing Certification (Needs to be attached to application); and achieve within one year of appointment the completion of a P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certificate, completion of D.O.J. training for full access operator, and standard CPR and First Aid Certificates issued by the American Red Cross.

About the Position:  The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest department and the Seasonal Open Space Technicians play an important role assisting during the construction season. The Seasonal Open Space Technicians assist with building and maintaining roads and trails on Midpen lands, and operate mechanical equipment such as chainsaws, power pruners and mowers. Seasonal Open Space Technicians also use hand and power tools to do semi-skilled carpentry, construction tasks, and remove invasive non-native plants. Additional duties include cleanup, routine maintenance in buildings and restrooms, and other tasks as required. Coveralls & personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided. Seasonal employees are provided with uniform items, chainsaws appropriate work boots may need to be purchased by the employee if this items is not already owned. Start dates will be in April 2026 and the selected individuals will continue working through October 2026.

Requirements:  Basic requirements include high school diploma or G.E.D.; possession of a valid California driver’s license; skills to perform basic construction and maintenance assignments; ability to perform manual labor requiring bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting; and the ability to work in, or around, poison oak. Highly desirable traits include prior work experience in a park, forest, or public recreation area involving work with equipment and tools used in park maintenance.  Candidates selected for the position will be required to successfully pass and obtain a certification in Basic First Aid/CPR, AED for Lay Responders.   

 

Schedules: This is a full-time (preferred), Monday through Friday position, with occasional weekend and holiday work required. Seasonal assignments will not exceed 950 hours or 6 months, whichever comes first, and do not include benefits. Seasonal Open Space Technicians are expected to work a minimum of 5 consecutive months.

Working Conditions:  Employees work in the field in rugged and remote areas and are exposed to loud noise levels, cold and hot temperatures, inclement weather conditions, road hazards, vibration, confining workspace, chemicals, mechanical or electrical hazards, hazardous physical substances and fumes, and poison oak.
