Fire Prevention/Administration Office Assistant

• Provide excellent customer service for the Fire Prevention and Fire Administration divisions by greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources
• Manage calendars for multiple inspectors, schedule inspections, and charge appropriate fees
• Process special event permit applications, prepare invoices for permit fees, collect fees, and issue permits
• Assist with accounts payables and receivables, including invoicing, payment collection, and reconciliation for Fire Prevention activities
• Provide information and assistance regarding public education to the general public
• Assist with website updates related to Fire Prevention services
• Update and maintain a variety of Fire Prevention forms and documents

• Provide front-desk customer service by greeting visitors, answering inquiries and directing individuals to the appropriate staff or resources
• Perform a variety of general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, processing mail, ordering supplies, scanning, and answering a multi-line telephone system
• Enter invoices for payment and data/information for reports, including setting up new vendors, reviewing statements
• Assist with accounts receivables related to shop billing and vendor transactions
• Update and maintain shop-related forms and documentation, assist with maintaining inventories of station supplies, and parts for apparatus repairs
• Receive supplies, check for condition and discrepancies, arrange for efficient and safe storage of stock, materials, and equipment
• Serve as administrative support for the Fleet & Facilities Manager and coordinate with other divisions as needed

 Orinda Youth Sports Needs Your Help!

Part-Time Winter Basketball League Positions

Are you looking for a fun, part-time job where you can stay active, work with kids, and be part of the community? The City of Orinda Parks and Recreation Department is hiring Sports Program Assistants for the upcoming Orinda Youth Sports (OYS) Winter Basketball League!

Season Dates: Saturdays only, January 20 – March 14 (no games Feb. 14)
Shifts: 6 hours (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. or 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.)
Pay: $16.50 – $24.50/hour (depending on experience and role)

What You’ll Do

• Help set up and take down basketball equipment

• Supervise the gym and keep things running smoothly

• Run the scoreboard/score clock

• Be a positive role model for young athletes

(And yes—there will be chances for more work in the spring leagues and summer camps!)

What We’re Looking For

What You’ll Do 

The Communications Manager will hone and execute the City of San Mateo’s communication strategy, which will include key actions to enhance community engagement and participation, increase community awareness about City activities and initiatives, foster cross-departmental coordination and unity, standardize media response procedures, improve the website user experience, and standardize training and onboarding for new communications staff.  You will work with our internal team to ensure current, high-quality communications products are available. The Communications Manager reports to the Assistant City Manager and may receive direction from the City Manager, has direct supervisory responsibilities, and will lead collaborative teams. 

Some duties may include:  

• Lead the City’s social media efforts and cross departmental social media team; develop and coordinate implementation of the City’s social media strategy, policies and presence and monitor the City’s online reputation. 

• Develop and implement an integrated strategic communication plan to advance the City’s brand identity and broaden awareness of its programs, priorities and accomplishments; ensure communication strategies are consistent with the City’s strategic plan and vision.  

• Create and manage a decentralized communications team to support the departments’ communications needs and the development and execution of the communications strategy.  

• Anticipate and identify challenges and emerging issues faced by the organization; work with the senior management team and staff to recognize communications opportunities and design and execute appropriate strategies to address them.  

• Develop and oversee mechanisms to measure the success and continuously improve the quality of the City’s communications.  

• Oversee development and dissemination of print communications (including the annual report, marketing collateral materials) and electronic communications (including the City’s website, social media and new media) and manage relationships with associated vendors.  

• Serve as spokesperson and lead contact on media interactions; build and manage press relationships to achieve accurate coverage of City events, public announcements, projects and programs.  

• Prepare talking points, presentations, speeches and other supporting material as needed.  

• Manage the City’s website, including content strategy, integrated messaging, creative direction and analytics.  

• Collaborate with departments to plan and coordinate public meetings, surveys and other outreach efforts to better understand community views regarding potential City decisions, satisfaction with City services and preferences for engaging with the City.

The City of San Rafael Library and Recreation Department is now accepting applications for the position of Facilities Attendant (Athletic Fields).    This position is responsible for supervision of athletic fields during assigned work hours while providing a positive and welcoming presence at the park.  The Facilities Attendant serves as an ambassador to park visitors, ensuring renters have access to their permitted spaces, unlocking soccer goals as needed, and promoting responsible use of the facility.  The Facilities Attendant also positively enforces park and field rules, encourages users to clean up after themselves, and helps to maintain a safe, respectful, and enjoyable environment for all.  Bilingual in Spanish is preferred but not required.

Qualifications:

• Ability to provide good customer service 
• Ability to communicate effectively 
• Ability to follow written and oral directions.

The Authority is currently recruiting for a part-time position of Environmental Stormwater Inspector to support the West Valley cities/Town stormwater inspection programs. These programs help protect our waterways and the San Francisco Bay by ensuring that businesses and residents are implementing best management practices to prevent water pollution and are in compliance with federal and local water quality regulations.

The Authority is currently working to advance multiple stormwater initiatives, such as trash reduction and controls for pollutants of concern, such as mercury and PCBs. The Environmental Stormwater Inspector may support these initiatives. An Environmental Stormwater Inspector also responds to complaints of illegal discharges
