The District is looking for a Plant Operator Grade III to help operate and maintain our wastewater treatment and recycled water facilities. In this role, you’ll inspect, monitor, and maintain plant systems and equipment to ensure reliable and compliant operation. You’ll work independently, use sound judgment in daily activities, and respond to unusual or emergency situations as needed. Under the general direction of the General Manager, the District Engineer plans, organizes, and manages all engineering activities for the District, including design, project and construction management, inspection, and review of public and private improvement projects. This role ensures compliance with District standards and all regulatory requirements while providing technical and strategic support to the General Manager and Board on capital projects, treatment processes, and infrastructure optimization.

The position oversees staff, consultants, and contractors; administers budgets and contracts; manages the Capital Improvement and Renewal & Replacement programs; and serves as project manager or engineer-of-record for major projects. Responsibilities include developing engineering policies and procedures, conducting technical studies, ensuring regulatory compliance (including CEQA), and maintaining accurate records of facilities and property rights.

The District Engineer represents the District in meetings with agencies, developers, and the public and plays a key role in advancing long-term infrastructure planning and operational efficiency.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who possesses both the interpersonal skills and technical expertise needed to perform a range of moderately difficult combination inspections (building, electrical, plumbing and mechanical) of a variety of residences, commercial and industrial buildings. THE POSITION Under general supervision, this non-sworn, non-peace officer position performs assignments involving responsible public contact work in crime prevention and delivers non-emergency police services; to include Public Safety (emergency/non-emergency) Radio Comm for Police & Fire responders; also performs related duties as required.

Prerequisites / Qualifications 

This is the entry-level position.   Applicants must be 18 years old at time of application, have no felony convictions, have the ability to learn and understand radio and statue codes, understand policy and procedures written in English, function without close supervision, work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays, and lift and transport various objects.  

Education / Experience

Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school plus one (1) year of experience in a clerical of similar position; college credits in criminal justice or communication preferred. 

Licenses / Registrations / Accreditation / Etc. 

Possession of a Valid Class C California Motor Vehicle Operator License; A 35 WPM Typing Certification (Needs to be attached to application); and achieve within one year of appointment the completion of a P.O.S.T. Dispatch Certificate, completion of D.O.J. training for full access operator, and standard CPR and First Aid Certificates issued by the American Red Cross.

What You’ll Do
Depending upon assignment, duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Manage and access video evidence from the department’s body-worn cameras.
• Perform quality assurance to ensure videos are being categorized correctly and reports are documented correctly.

What You’ll Do

The primary duties of this position may include, but are not limited to the following:

• Serve as a Field Officer processing telephone, in-person or on-scene reports of criminal incidents; and processing requests for police reports and public information, processing and serving subpoenas.  
• Assume responsibility for collecting, receiving, cataloging, and the storing of physical and photographic evidence, including contraband and narcotics. 
• Serve as Court Liaison by reviewing all reports for submission to the District Attorney; processing complaints for arrests, warrants, notices to appear and report reviews; procure supporting documentation, including body worn camera video.
• Provide assistance to the Traffic Safety unit.
• Serve as the Police Liaison to the San Mateo Police Activities League, manage community engagement and social media for the department and/or PAL, and facilitate special events.
• Assume responsibility for the security, operation, maintenance, and contracts of the police facility, manage volunteers and student interns, facilitates background investigations.
• Hours vary with assignments; shift, weekend and holiday work are required. Every reasonable effort shall be made to ensure that the schedule of working hours for Community Service Officers assigned to Field Operations (Patrol) will remain in the current “4/10” Four (4) (Day/Ten (10) hour format.

Per Diem Management Analyst I - City Manager's Office

The City Manager’s Office is seeking a Management Analyst I for a per diem opportunity beginning as soon as possible. The position offers a flexible schedule. The expectation is this position will work 20-25 hours per week, but may go up to 30 hours per week on occasion, and will not exceed 960 hours total. The hourly rate is $48.91.

Duties may include but are not limited to:

• Oversee and promote the City’s volunteer program with an eye toward continuous improvement and program evolution.
• Provide direct support on special projects led by the Senior Management Analyst and/or Assistant City Manager.  
• Coordinate ongoing management of select City public art installations.
• Represent the City Manager’s Office on cross-departmental committees and teams, such as the Safety Committee and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and act as a conduit for critical information.
• Assist with the organization and implementation of community engagement events.
• Conduct research and analysis and make recommendations on the formulation of policies, procedures, and best practices.
• May draft staff reports or slide decks for presentation to city commissions and/or City Council on various policy and program topics.
• Develop requests for proposals and assist in negotiation and execution of contracts with consultants and service providers.
• Participate in the development and installation of new or revised programs, systems, procedures, and methods of operation.
• Assist in the coordination of intradepartmental and departmental activities with other City departments and divisions, and outside agencies.

Minimum Qualifications:

Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

• One year of general administrative experience, preferably in local government.
• Equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major work in public or business administration or a closely related field.
