The Waterpark EMT is responsible for responding to emergencies and providing efficient and immediate care to the critically ill/injured at Adventure Waterpark. In addition, The EMT provides security services as needed. The EMT is expected to work weekends and holidays on a regular basis.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Functions within the scope of care as defined by state, regional, and local regulatory agencies
• Provide outstanding customer service while performing assigned duties, including interpreting and conveying information throughout the Waterpark
• Ability to open/maintain an airway, administer CPR, control hemorrhage, bandage wounds, immobilize extremities, administer oxygen, and other duties within the scope of practice
• Respond to emergencies in a timely and safe manner
• Recognize hazardous situations and contain area until help arrives
• Produce competent reports of incidents and injuries
• Provide public security services during the course of the day and for Admin at closing
• Uphold all rules and regulations of the Waterpark
• Maintain a high degree of confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity while performing all aspects of assigned responsibilities
• Attend training and staff meetings as assigned
• Assist other City departments in the event of major emergencies
• Perform other duties as assigned

SUPERVISION EXERCISED AND RECIEVED

The position is supervised by the Waterpark Operations Manager and/or Recreation Supervisor

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be 18 years or older
• Possess E.M.T. certification with experience in the field, and submit verification upon hire
• Possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Ability to establish and maintain productive relations and positive attitude with and toward others
• Possess good organizational skills and be able to multi-task
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Willingness to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as required
• Ability to secure and retain valid California driver's license
• All candidates must meet the following physical requirements:
  • Must not be allergic to chlorine or other pool chemicals
  • Sit or stand for long periods of time (100% of assigned shift, and/or in excess of 10 hours)

Danville Poet Laureate

The Town Council created the Poet Laureate position in September 2008 to serve as a public advocate for the appreciation and advancement of the literary arts, particularly poetry, reading poetry for civic events and dedications.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Poet Laureate include the following:

(a)       create and read poetry for civic events and activities, as invited by the Town Council;

(b)       serve as a liaison between the Arts Commission and local literary organizations; and,

(c)       act as a resource on the topic of poetry.

Qualifications

Candidates must meet the following qualifications:  Danville resident; age 18 or older; author of published poetry or willingness to publish poetry during the term, if selected; and, affiliation with literary organizations is preferred, but not required.

Term of Office

The term of office of the Poet Laureate is two (2) years, unless otherwise determined by the Town Council. 

Compensation

The Poet Laureate does not receive compensation for their services or attendance at meetings and events. 

Residency Requirement

The Poet Laureate must be a resident of the Town of Danville.

THE POSITION
The Utilities Field Services Supervisor supervises, plans, schedules, and reviews activities related to the installations and maintenance of water mains and appurtenances, including water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, backflow prevention devices, and water meters, within the City's water system.   This position also oversees the City’s meter reading and cross connection control programs, and assists the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger in the overall planning, administration, and management of Utilities Operations and Maintenance functions.  
 
DEFINITION
Under general direction, to supervise, plan, schedule, and review activities related to the  installations and maintenance of water mains and appurtenances, including water mains, service lines, fire hydrants, backflow prevention devices, and water meters, of the City's water system, as well as field customer services.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is a management classification allocated to the Utilities Division of the Public Works Department reporting to the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager. The Utilities Field Services Supervisor is responsible for the field installations and customer services related to water meters and backflow device maintenance. The position is also responsible for supervision of meter reading and performing supervision and management in support of the Utilities Division's goals and objectives.  The position is also responsible for assisting the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger in the overall planning, administration, and management of Utilities Operations and Maintenance functions. This position is distinguished from that of subordinate utilities classifications by its responsibility for the supervision of two maintenance work groups (i.e., Field Services and Customer Services).  This position is distinguished from the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manger position by the latter position's overall responsibility for the management and administration of the City's water distribution and sewer collection systems, the Storekeeper position, and administrative and clerical staff.

Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
 
Field services, including installation of water mains and appurtenances for City projects and/or private developments, maintenance of the water mains and appurtenances, leak repairs, water meter installation and repair, backflow prevention device installation, repairs, inspection, and testing, and meter reading program.  Field Services may be required to assist in smaller repair jobs to the sewer collection system. 

Coordinates operations with the needs of the public, outside agencies, and other City divisions.  
 
Assists the Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager with budget preparation and performs other administrative work as assigned. 
 
Receives, investigates and responds to public inquiries, concerns, and complaints, and requests for service. Works cooperatively with City staff, residents, businesses, property owners, and other utilities and outside agencies.
 
Confers with developers and contractors as needed to ensure that the City's water system standards are met.
 
Identifies water mains and appurtenances maintenance needs in the utility system, discusses them with Utilities Operations and Maintenance Manager, and initiates proper action to resolve the problems. Ensures that the meter reading program is always on track and meeting its goals.  Assures that emergency staff is available 24 hours a day to take necessary action.
 
Oversees the development of schedules and establishment of assignment priorities for the Field Services section, as well as the Customer Service section.  
 
Develops and maintains specifications for water main and appurtenances materials and equipment and recommends purchases.  
 
Prepares and maintains specialized water system records and forms, and reports to regulatory agencies. Prepares all correspondence needed to ensure effective coordination between the Utilities Operations and Maintenance, other functions within Utilities Operations and Maintenance, Public Works, other City departments, and the general public. 
 
Reviews, evaluates and prepares comments on construction plans, drawings and specifications related to water system infrastructure projects including mains, connections, valves, equipment, and other systems.
 
Ensures that all Underground Service Alert (USA) markings for the City's water and sewer mains, and fiber optic cable are done in a timely and accurate manner.
 
Participates in interviews and selection of new employees under the positions responsibilities, and training of employees in work procedures, standards and safety practices. 
 
Prepares and provides input into employee performance evaluations, including setting and assessing goals, conducts counseling on work-related issues, and makes recommendations regarding discipline.
 
Actively participates in the Public Works Department's Safety Committee.
 
Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB RELATED ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: 

• Water transmission and distribution operations and maintenance, and underground installation programs; and safe work practices.
• Principles of hydraulic theory as it applies to water distribution system, water transmission systems, pressure zones and pressure regulating valves.
• Current methods, codes and regulations governing underground work and water main and appurtenances installation.
• Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems including data propagation methods, and associated hardware and software.
• Modern work order development and processing.
• Principles of management and supervision including work planning, direction, training, and evaluation of work and staff performance.

Ability to: 

• Direct the daily field services of a municipal water distribution system, and field customer services functions.
• Supervise, train and evaluate subordinate field, technical, and support staff; and coordinate schedules to insure the timely processing of the public's request.
• Communicate both orally and in writing to prepare clear and accurate maintenance and safety reports, lead discussions, and present information to City staff, contractors, and the general public.
• Review and evaluate construction plans, drawings and specifications related to field services projects including underground infrastructure, and related equipment.  
• Calculate field assets historical and instantaneous performance using a variety of data, formulas and equations.
• Make reasonable assessments as to repair or replacement of water main, valves, and other related equipment; and advise Utilities staff, design consultants, engineers and contractors in acquisition and installation of new equipment.
• Make informed judgments concerning maintenance parameters of water system; and make independent judgments during emergencies. 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION
Any combination of experience and training that could likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:
 
Experience: Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the Field Services of a water system including one (1) year of responsible supervisory or lead position experience in a distribution system classified as a D4 system or higher by the California Department of Health Services.
 
Education: Completion of twelfth grade or possession of GED, supplemented by college course work related to potable water, water distribution, wastewater collection, recycled water distribution, or a science field.  Possession of an Associate's Degree in water distribution, wastewater collection, recycled water distribution, or in a science field may be substituted for the required coursework.  Possession of a bachelor's degree is desirable.  

License or Certificate:Requires possession and maintenance of a valid Water Distribution Operator D4 Certificate issued by the California Department of Health Services,

OR

Possession and maintenance of valid Water Distribution D3 Certification issued by the California Department of Health Services with the ability to obtain and maintain a D4 Certification within eighteen (18) months of appointment to the position. 

AND

Possession and maintenance of a valid Class C California Driver's License.

The Town of Danville strives to provide an aquatic environment that is safe, instructive and fun through recreational and lap swim, special events, the Learn to Swim program, Junior Lifeguard program and Lifeguard training classes.

PROGRAM LEADER (SWIM INSTRUCTOR/LIFEGUARD)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour

QUALIFICATIONS  
Applicants must be at least 15 years of age.  Required certifications by the end of Staff Training Week:  American Red Cross Lifeguard Training, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid (Lifeguard).  

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

SUPERVISION 
Under the general supervision of the Pool Managers, Program Coordinator and Program Supervisor, the Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring aquatic safety and providing instruction for pool patrons.  Swim Instructors/Lifeguards must enjoy working with children and the general public, be patient, reliable and have lots of energy.  

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

Senior Guards must have at least two years of lifeguard/swim instructor experience; leadership experience is highly desired.

Aquatics staff members generally work 3-5 hours per day, in morning, afternoon, or evening shifts at San Ramon Valley High School or Monte Vista High School Pools.  Most staff members will work an average of 15-20 hours per week, up to a maximum of 37.5 hours per week. 

SUPERVISION

• Provides operational site management by assisting class placement of participants.

The City of Berkeley invites you to apply for the position of Camp Maintenance Mechanic (Non-Career Intermittent) in the Parks, Recreation and Waterfront Department! In this role, you will have the opportunity to keep our camps running smoothly by performing both routine and heavy, physical work in the construction, maintenance, repair and cleaning of camp facilities. The Department

The City of Fremont's Human Services Department is recognized nationally and internationally for its innovation and effective programs. The Department works to sustain the City’s social service infrastructure, which promotes a healthy and safe environment for all residents. The Department also directly offers services to residents throughout their life course from infants to elders. Services offered to families are designed to help them become or remain self-sufficient.

The Position

The City of Fremont’s Human Services Department is currently looking for temporary employees to work evening shifts, from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. From December 1st through April 30th, 2024, the City of Fremont will operate the Winter Relief Program to provide a safe and welcoming  environment  for  individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Participants will  have  access  to  shelter  rooms  in  local hotels and an opportunity to access additional services. Shelter monitors  will  work  under  the direction of a Human Service Specialist II.

This position will require up to 20 hours of work per week.

Examples of Duties

• This position is responsible for maintaining the health and safety of homeless individuals and families who are living on the streets or in their cars and need emergency shelter from cold weather and rain.
• Welcome all new program participants and work compassionately with those who may have difficulty engaging with service providers.
• Effectively resolve conflicts among participants and de‐escalate potentially violent situations.
• Maintain a friendly, safe, and supportive environment by ensuring participant adherence to program rules, especially related to behaviors that may be unsafe.
• Respond appropriately to emergencies. As necessary, notify public safety personnel. Pick up meals and personal supplies and facilitate distribution to program participants. Maintain a collaborative working relationship with hotel staff.
• Maintain accurate records including a daily sign‐in sheet.
• Daily use of email to submit detailed reports regarding participant attendance, supply needs, on-site incidents including any 911 utilization and/or emergency responder activity, and information about clients who may need additional medical or behavioral follow-up.
• Monitor and document room condition to ensure rooms are maintained in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Other duties as assigned.
