The Department

The South San Francisco Public Library is a full-service library committed to delivering quality services to a diverse community.  Library services are available at three sites, including the Main Library (901 Civic Campus Way), the Grand Avenue Library (306 Walnut Avenue) and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (520 Tamarack Lane).  Lifelong literacy services are provided by Project Read at the Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center (GMCLC). 

The Position

This position manages core library literacy services over several program areas that include one-on-one adult tutoring, ESL, Computer and Citizenship instruction and programs, family literacy outreach and activities including our early literacy outreach van, afterschool homework program for a local Title I school, and literacy programs that cross many interest areas such as computer literacy, civic literacy, financial literacy.  Library literacy services are based out of the SSF Main Library and the Gene Mullin Community Learning Center and are embedded in general library services, supporting community members in their reading, learning, civic engagement and personal literacy goals.

The City of Stockton seeks to fill an Information Technology Supervisor position with primary responsibilities around Enterprise Applications. This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining enterprise applications, GIS applications, data integrations, budgeting,  and managing assigned staff within the Information Technology Department.  This Information Technology Supervisor is accountable for the leadership, facilitation, analysis, and design tasks required to ensure that assigned information systems at the City are evolving to providing value to the departments in a secure and cost-efficient way.

The incumbent will be responsible for developing strong plans and roadmaps on how the application portfolio meets the business needs in an efficient, cost-effective, resource-balanced and secure way to gain executive support and buy-in. Furthermore, the incumbent will be accountable for executing the roadmap to ensure the application portfolio provides value, meets cyber security standards, and is vendor supported.

The incumbent must be proficient in creating the documentation of current and future state, roadmaps, and transition plans that support application initiatives. The right candidate will maintain the application inventory in collaboration with the business users and recommend appropriate actions to maximize the value to the organization. It will be essential to keep up with the technology industry and market trends to determine their potential impact on the application portfolio. Knowledge and experience in both on-premise and cloud technology are paramount.  A strong understanding of how to apply modern cyber security principles to secure on-prem and cloud applications and associated data assets are the foundation of every deployment.

The incumbent will work closely with other supervisors and leaders in the IT department to coordinate activities to ensure software applications, hardware, virtualization, cloud deployment, and cyber tool deployments are successful and execution follows established methodical processes.

Information Technology Supervisors work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays off. May be required to work additional hours and/or weekends to provide critical support to key initiatives.

Incumbents in this position are excluded from the Civil Service system and are in a "for-cause" employment status represented by the Mid-Management/Supervisory bargaining unit. Only those applicants who best fit the needs of the City will be referred to the hiring department.

Description

The incumbent provides high-level public information, community outreach, and multi-media services that require in-depth knowledge of public sector communications, multi-media, script writing and editing, website and graphic design and experience in managing and implementing creative and innovative promotions and projects.

Under general direction, the Communications Program Manager coordinates the citywide public communications activities and maintains content on the City's website and intranet; implements and supports internal and external communications efforts; and coordinates social media and video communications activities.  Incumbents may function as a supervisor of as-needed employees, or an individual contributor, depending on the department or assignment.

• Attend a variety of staff, Council, commission, and other related meetings.
• Provide advice and support to City staff regarding public and media relations.
• Prepare and submit award nominations, proclamations, and other written materials as needed.

About the Position

Under general direction, performs professional-level tasks related to municipal planning, zoning, housing, economic development and environmental analysis; researches and analyzes a variety of planning data; prepares various studies and recommendations; prepares and reviews environmental documents; reviews development and subdivision proposals, building plans, permits, and parcel maps; works with developers, architects, attorneys, and the public regarding City standards and policies; may serve as staff to various Commissions and/or committees; and does related work as required.

This classification is a journey level class in the professional planning series.  With the requisite experience, the incumbent can independently assume responsibility for more complex projects and specialized assignments. This position differs from the Assistant Planner position by increased responsibility for project management.

General direction is received from the Planning Manager overseeing the Advance Planning Division. Direct supervision and supervision through secondary managers may be provided with specific project assignments in the Community Development Department. Responsibilities may include functional supervision of subordinate staff.

Essential Duties

• Conducts assigned planning projects involving long-range planning, land use, populations, structures, economic activities, housing, transportation, environmental and related subjects; conducts research, and confers with community members, interested parties, and agency representatives to identify problems and opportunities.
• Analyzes data with respect to relevant laws, ordinances, regulations, and policies; determines methods for compliance with local and state law.
• Prepares professional staff reports of summarized data, conclusions and recommendations; makes oral presentations to the public and elected and appointed decision makers.

The City of Patterson’s Public Works Department is seeking to fill (1) one full-time Maintenance Worker position within the Urban Forestry division and to establish an eligibility list.  Duties include but are not limited to: Under supervision performs routine manual labor, maintenance, and repair tasks while learning to perform a full range of semi-skilled work required in maintenance, repair, operations and construction of related facilities, parks, streets, and services; performs other duties as assigned.

Successful candidates will be placed on an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the City’s Urban Forestry, Parks, Streets, Collections or Building Maintenance Divisions.  Eligible lists may be valid for up to twelve months.
