San Mateo County Health - San Mateo Medical Center and its outpatient clinics are seeking experienced Certified Medical Assistants - Spanish Speaking Preferred to join our care teams. Under direct supervision of licensed staff, Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs) perform a variety of patient care and other services required to treat patients in a health services outpatient or mobile clinic.

The current vacancies are Regular vacancies and Extra Help vacancies. Future vacancies may include extra-help, limited term, unclassified, and regular classified positions.

Extra Help - Extra-help positions are short-term employment for up to 1040 hours which is equivalent to about six months; however, employment might end sooner depending on the needs of the hiring departments. Extra-help assignments are at-will and the employee is paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Term - Term positions are designated for a specific and limited period of time, anywhere from 6 months to a maximum of 3 years depending on the assignment. Benefits package for term positions are similar to regular positions EXCEPT for retirement. Term employees receive a 401A retirement package and are not eligible for retiree health benefits or a defined benefit pension.

Unclassified - Unclassified positions are at-will for a limited duration, typically associated with grant or other special funding. These positions are not covered by San Mateo County Civil Service Rules; and there is no formal probation period. The following are the same for classified and unclassified positions: salary, increases and other forms of compensation; accrual of sick leave, vacation, overtime, holiday and leaves of absence; health, dental, vision, long & short term disability, and retirement.

Medical Services Assistants II who are assigned to the clinics and perform advanced patient care duties as defined in the classification specification shall receive a differential of 6.2% in addition to all other compensation.
 

Examples Of Duties

Duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Accurately take and record the condition, respiration, pulse, temperature and blood pressure of patients; record other pertinent information as observed or measured.
• Apply non-sterile dressings and administer non-medicated treatments under the supervision of a registered nurse, licensed physician, surgeon, podiatrist, nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
• Carry out rehabilitation procedures as directed by therapists; perform a range of motion body movement with/for patients; position and exercise patients.
• Assist in therapeutic milieu programs.
• Advise patients on the use of restorative equipment.
• Observe and practice proper isolation techniques.
• Operate various types of sterilization equipment.
• Transport specimens, medical records and related items.
• Enter and retrieve a variety of information in automated systems.
• Greet patients at clinics and escort patients.

With additional training and/or certification(s), some employees may perform the following duties under conditions required by code and department policy:

• Perform injections including immunizations.
• Perform finger stick tests of all types including glucose testing.
• Perform skin tests including PPDs.
• Perform venipuncture and blood draws.
• Perform hearing and vision tests.
• Perform waived CLIA tests including dipstick UAs, and pregnancy tests.
• Provide for proper tracking and recording of laboratory tests.
• Take patient histories including risk factors.
• Set up, administer and record the results of EKGs.
• Follow provider orders regarding prescribed treatments including assisting patients with self-administration of medications.
• Teach and counsel patients on a variety of health related subjects as directed.

 

Qualifications

Certification Requirement:
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate or a certificate of completion or degree from an accredited medical assisting program is required. A certificate of completion of an approved medical assisting program must be submitted at the time of application.

Bilingual Fluency:
Some positions may require bilingual skills. Fluency in both English and Spanish is required to be considered for a bilingual position.

Education and Experience:
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to qualify is:

One year of experience in an outpatient clinic or doctor's office as a nurse's assistant or medical assistant.

Knowledge of:

• Principles, techniques and procedures specific to area of assignment.

The Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Principal Appraiser.  Principal Appraisers must have thorough knowledge of Property Tax and the Revenue and Taxation Code as it relates to Real Property Valuation, Change in Ownership reassessment or exclusion requirements, New Construction valuation, Decline in Value valuation, Property Classification, etc.
 
The department currently has two vacancies in the areas of Residential and Commercial real property appraisal and assessment.
 
The Principal Appraisers share a critical role in assisting the Chief Appraiser and Deputy Assessor in the completion of the Office's mission to determine the assessed value of all taxable property located in San Mateo County, the creation of the official record of taxable property (approximately 240,000 assessments each year in the local assessment roll), and the sharing of this information with the County Controller and Tax Collector and making it publicly available.
 
This is an exciting time for seasoned Principal Appraisers to join our dynamic team of Appraisal professionals. The Assessor's Office is currently involved in several major projects, including the development of a new Assessor's Property Assessment System (APAS), and the appraisal and assessment of several large-scale new generation commercial, manufacturing, research and development, and mixed-use developments being built throughout San Mateo County.  Principal Appraisers may be called upon to provide subject matter expertise in the development of the Assessor's Property Assessment System.

 

Examples Of Duties

The technically-savvy and experienced individuals hired for these positions will have the responsibility to supervise appraisal and exemption staff in the timely collection, processing, and analysis of valuation data for real, personal, tangible, and intangible property for tax assessment purposes, and to manage the impact of the new regulations.

THE DEPARTMENT AND DIVISION
The mission of the Office of the Assessor-County Clerk-Recorder and Chief Elections Officer is to ensure equitable treatment of County property owners by accurate and fair valuation of land, improvements, and businesses; to create an accurate public record of recorded transactions relating to people and property within San Mateo County; and to register County citizens to vote and efficiently conduct honest elections.
 
The Department is responsible for:

• The maintenance of 240,000 assessments and a local property tax roll of over $238 billion.
• The maintenance of County birth, death, and marriage records.
• The maintenance of over 3,000,000 recorded land records.
• The facilitation of local elections.
• The maintenance of the voter registration rolls representing over 330,000 County voters.

 
The Department is also responsible for a budget of $20 million, election billing to all jurisdictions, and 15 governmental trust funds.
 
 

Qualifications

Licensure/Certification: Acquisition within one year of appointment of a permanent Property Tax Appraiser Certificate issued by the California State Board of Equalization.  
 
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.
 
The preferred qualifications include:

• A Bachelor's degree, and
• Six years of experience performing a full range of appraisals of tangible and taxable property, of which three years are for tax assessment purposes preferably with an Assessor's Office in California, and
• Experience appraising and assessing at least 3,000 or more residential properties, and
• Three years of experience with Assessment Appeals

Additional preferred qualifications include:
 

• Previous completion of advanced level courses offered by the California Board of Equalization and/or the Appraisal Institute
• Advanced Appraiser Certification issued by the State Board of Equalization.

Three years of experience as a Sr. Appraiser with San Mateo County Assessor's Office is considered qualifying experience.
 
The preferred and most highly qualified candidates will have experience in both the commercial and residential areas.
 
Specialized knowledge of Property Tax Rules and Regulations and Revenue and Taxation Code as they relate to Change in Ownership, Transfers, Assessments, etc., is a plus.

San Mateo Medical Center is seeking well-qualified candidates for the position of Occupational Therapist II.  
Currently, there is one full-time, limited-term vacancy and two Extra-Help, part-time, vacancies. These positions will plan and provide occupational therapy services for acutely ill or rehabilitative patients in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting.
Occupational Therapist II is the experienced journey level class in this series. Incumbents in this class perform the full range of general therapy treatments with a greater degree of independence and proficiency, additionally applying more specialized and advanced therapy treatments. Some individuals may also assist in providing technical advice and training to less experienced staff.
The ideal candidate has graduated from an accredited occupational therapy curriculum and is licensed as an Occupational Therapist by the California Board of Occupational Therapy and registered with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. They will also possess a Certificate of completion for a course in Basic Life Support as approved by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association. The Department

The South San Francisco Fire Department provides its residents with service in fire suppression; first-responder and ambulance transport emergency medical services; hazardous materials response; urban search and rescue; marine rescue and fire prevention, investigation and public education. Step 2:  Written Examination: Applicants for the Sheriff’s Correctional Officer have four options for meeting the written examination requirement – (a) submittal of a valid and passing T-Score on the POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB) exam dated within the last 12 months prior to the date of application or (b) possession of a passing score on the National Testing Network (NTN) Corrections REACT Examination dated within the last 12 months prior to the date of application or (c) possession of a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation certification (CDCR) or possession of an Adult Corrections Officer Core completion certificate from a certified Standard and Training for Corrections (STC) academy from the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC) or (d) possession of an associate’s degree or higher from an accredited U.S. college or university. 

 

a) POST Entry-Level Law Enforcement Test Battery (PELLETB): This exam must be completed in less than 2.5 hours, and it must be passed with a minimum T-Score of 42. To schedule for the exam, visit the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium's website at: www.theacademy.ca.gov.  

 

b) National Testing Network (NTN) Corrections REACT Exam: Passing scores accepted for this exam are Video Judgement Test 65% or higher; Reading 75% or higher; and Count 70% or higher. This examination is administered directly by the National Testing Network, and it may be taken virtually or in person at testing sites nationwide. NOTE: PELLETB Test scores or results from other training organizations or law enforcement agencies will be accepted so long as they meet California Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) requirements.

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT TESTING

PELLETB: Applicants can complete the PELLETB exam at the South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium. The areas covered by the test include spelling, vocabulary, clarity, reading and CLOZE (use contextual clues to complete a passage that contains missing words). Applicants are responsible for contacting South Bay Regional Public Safety Training Consortium and self-enrolling in the required written exam. National Testing Network (NTN) Corrections REACT Examination (Online option): Applicants can register with NTN and schedule for the written examination by visitingwww.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select “Find Jobs”, then select “Corrections Jobs” and sign up for [San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office]. You must take the examination first before applying. Candidates who have already completed the National Testing Network (NTN) examination may submit their results through NTN to our agency. The exam must have been taken within one year of your submitted application. Candidates must meet the minimum passing scores. Acceptance of NTN exam scores are subject to verification with National Testing Network.

 

Qualifications

Education and Experience: 
Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.

Education: 
A high school graduate or passing the General Education Development (GED) test or other high school equivalency test approved by CDE, or completion of at least 30 college units from an accredited or approved institution to apply.

DEFINITION
Crisis Response Clinician I: Under direct supervision of the Crisis Response Supervisor, provides field and office based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, case management, consultation, and quality assurance review of assigned cases; and performs related other work as required or assigned.

Crisis Response Clinician II: Under general supervision of the Crisis Response Supervisor, provides field and office based professional behavioral health counseling, psychoeducation, outreach and engagement, case management, consultation, and quality assurance review of assigned cases; and performs related other work as required or assigned. This is a full journey level position within the Crisis Response Clinician series and is distinguished from the Crisis Response Clinician I by the performance of the full range of duties with only occasional instruction or assistance.

Under the flexible staffing concept, Crisis Response Clinician II positions that become vacant may reasonably be filled at the Crisis Response Clinician I level for training purposes.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Perform initial diagnostic evaluation during a crisis noting behavioral symptoms which may indicate mental health disorders in children, youth, or adults; determine whether individuals meet the criteria for a W&I 5150 and follow appropriate procedure; determine other resources to connect individuals to who do not meet criteria for 5150; work closely with different law enforcement communities; participate in monthly San Mateo County Field Crisis Consultation Committee (FCCC) as needed; establish and maintain effective relationships with contractors and community organizations and other governmental agencies regarding programs and services; participate in committees, meetings and conferences; provide guidance regarding appropriate social-psychological practices and services. perform suicidal/homicidal/Grave Disability risk assessments; conduct home visits and/or field-based services; provide crisis Intervention as needed; provide outreach counseling and refer clients to appropriate behavioral health resources; collect and evaluate medical or psychosocial data such as case histories, behavior patterns and family relationships of patients/clients; follow up with individuals where appropriate who are reluctant to engage with resources; work as a psychiatric team member with other treatment disciplines; utilize Trauma Informed Care and other evidence-based practices; provide consultation and education services; compile and prepare reports and documentation on clinical activities; maintain records; prepares periodic reports; ability to work weekends and perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of: Office machines and specialized software applications; current philosophy, principles, and practices for services to clients with serious mental illness; individual, group and family psychodynamics as they relate to adults or children in crisis; psychological diagnostic methods and terminology; personality development from infancy through adulthood; human and health services systems in the County including private agencies and other community resources; applicable local, State and Federal laws, ordinances and rules.

Ability to: Provide crisis intervention treatment to adults, children or adolescents with various mental disabilities ranging from serious mental illness to dysfunctional behavior patterns, including victims of sexual or physical abuse; set realistic treatment goals and facilitate their attainment; evaluate the degree of mental disability or emotional distress of patients/clients; communicate effectively orally and in writing; provide consultation and technical assistance to agencies, schools and other organizations; operate modern office equipment including specialized software applications programs; interacts positively and cooperate with co-workers, responds politely to customers, works as a team member, functions under demanding time pressure, responds in a positive manner to supervision, attends work and perform duties on a regular and consistent basis.

Education: Master's degree from accredited college or university in Social Work, Social Welfare, Psychology, or a closely related field.

Experience:
Crisis Response Clinician I: One (1) year of experience working in the social work or counseling field with strong emphasis on social services, crisis response, severe mental illness, resources, and referrals using a collaborative and community framework.
Crisis Response Clinician II: Two (2) years of experience working in the social work or counseling field with strong emphasis on social services, crisis response, severe mental illness, resources, and referrals using a collaborative and community framework.

License:
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License.
Crisis Response Clinician I: Registered with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as an APCC, AMFT or ACSW. A current license with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences, as either a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC or licensed Clinical Psychologist desirable.

Crisis Response Clinician II: A current license with the State of California Board of Behavioral Sciences as either a LCSW, LMFT, LPCC or licensed Clinical Psychologist required.
