The Position

This position is part of the Food Waste Reduction team, which works to reduce food loss and waste while supporting soil health, local economies, and access to nutritious food.

The Program Manager I supports program implementation, partnerships, and technical assistance related to food waste prevention and edible food recovery. This includes working with consultants and grantees, coordinating pilot projects, developing resources, supporting SB 1383 compliance, and directly engaging with local governments, businesses, schools, and community partners.

This role is ideal for someone who can manage projects independently while collaborating across teams and with external partners. The Program Manager I will take ownership of discrete program components, operating under the direction of a Senior Program Manager while supporting broader team initiatives.

                                           TESTING PROCESS:

1. Written Examination

• Candidates who pass will receive a Personal History Questionnaire (PHQ).

2. Oral Interview & Eligibility List

• Candidates who submit a complete PHQ will be invited to an oral interview with Background Detectives.
• Successful candidates are placed on an eligibility list.

3. Background Investigation

• Includes:

  • Medical evaluation

  • Polygraph examination

  • Drug/alcohol screening

4. Physical Agility Testing

• Candidates must meet the following standards:

  • 1‑Mile Run: 10 minutes

  • Solid Fence Climb: 13.5 seconds

  • Chain Link Fence Climb: 10 seconds

  • Body Drag (165 lbs): 14 seconds

  • 99‑Yard Obstacle Course: 25 seconds

5. Final Interview

• Candidates who pass all prior stages will participate in the Chief’s Final Oral Interview.

Our five all-day summer camps run from June 15 to August 14, with staff training beginning June 8. Serving children ages 4-12 at multiple locations, these positions serve as role models to youth campers throughout the Conejo Valley, leading arts and crafts, recreation games, swimming, hiking and more!
