DEFINITION

Under general supervision, provide recreational and educational instruction and activities, social development, guidance and care for preschool and elementary age children by leading and assisting in the selection and coordination of a variety of activities and curriculum at a childcare site.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Child Care Lead Teacher is the lead teacher in the classroom.  Child Care Lead Teachers may also be asked to temporarily oversee a school site when a Site Coordinator is offsite.  If a situation arises where a Site Supervisor is unavailable for an extended period of time a Child Care Lead Teacher with a Site Supervisor Permit will be asked to act as a temporary Site Supervisor.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED:

General supervision is provided by the Child Care Site Coordinator. Child Care Lead Teacher  supervises the classrooms to which they are assigned, including Child Care Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers that are assigned to their programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

• Assist in the development of a diversified program of recreational games, sports, arts, crafts, and other activities for elementary school children.
• Assist in the development of a diversified preschool curriculum of music, science, math, dramatic play, social studies, literature, and recreational activities.
• Plan and lead a variety of activities appropriate to children of various age groups.
• Participate in and evaluate the effectiveness of activities and events.
• Instruct children in the safe and proper use of supplies and equipment. Instruct children in proper health and hygiene care.
• Assist in the selection and arrangement of field trips, special events and guest speakers.
• Assist with the preparation of site nutrition program.
• Assist with developing discipline techniques and maintaining acceptable classroom behavior from participants.
• Drive/Transport children using City of Pacifica City vans.
• Participate in cleaning and maintaining the facility and equipment.
• Inspect the site and equipment for potential safety hazards; take corrective action to prevent injuries.
• Assist in monitoring site supplies.
• Assist in recording numbers for attendance and nutrition reports. Perform related duties as assigned.
• Assist Site Supervisors with the evaluation process for Childcare Aides, Associate Teachers, Teachers, and Full-time Teachers (I/II) that are assigned to their programs.
• Attend and participate in required in-service training activities.
• Assist Site Coordinator in preparing yearly State of California Desired Results reports, including managing children’s portfolios, and monitoring student progress by using Desired Results Developmental Profile and designated online educational platforms.

THE DEPARTMENT
The Burlingame Police Department is a municipal, full service, community oriented department.  We offer a variety of investigative, preventative, and community policing programs to both protect and serve a community that spans five square miles and is home to more than 28,000 residents.

The Burlingame Police Department is divided into two divisions: Operations and Administration.  The force currently consists of 40 police officers, made up of the Chief of Police, 1 Captain, 2 Lieutenants, 6 Sergeants, 6 Corporals, 2 Inspectors, and 22 Patrol Officers.

We are active in county-wide law enforcement efforts by participating in the San Mateo County Gang Task Force, Avoid the 23 (DUI) Task Force, Narcotic Task Force Details, Alcohol Beverage Control Operations, Office of Traffic Safety grants and as Police Academy Training Officers.

POSITION
Burlingame Police Officers are responsible for preventing crime, arresting law violators, directing traffic, etc.  In that capacity, officers may also serve in special assignments such as K-9, detective, SWAT, hostage teams, FTO, and motorcycle patrol.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

• Patrol various areas within the City by driving a police vehicle or by walking to prevent criminal activity, to enforce various laws, regulations, and codes.
• Respond to radio dispatched calls and reports to crime scenes or locations of disorder to protect life and property.
• Conduct investigations, gathers information and writes factual reports involving criminal activity, traffic accidents, suspicious activity, or other unusual incidents.
• Make arrests as necessary and writes report of all arrests made and activities performed.
• Interview and interrogate suspicious persons, suspects, and prisoners.
• Gather, mark, preserve, and record evidence in criminal or related matters; testify and present evidence in court.
• Serve warrants and subpoenas.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Candidates must be a US Citizen, at least 21 years of age on date of appointment, a US high school graduate (or GED equivalent), have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal history.  Must be able to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions, read, comprehend, write, and speak English effectively.

Entry Level - Proof of completing the POST Written Test and Physical Agility Test with a passing score.

Lateral Police Officer - To be considered for a lateral Police Officer appointment, candidates must have prior experience as a sworn law enforcement officer within the past twelve (12) months, including the completion of the field training program and probation period with a law enforcement agency.

The Department

The Parks and Recreation Department is the third largest department in the City and is organized by program area, with each program administered by a supervisor, coordinator, or specialist. The department is comprised of the Recreation, Community Services, Parks, Facilities and Common Greens divisions.

The Parks Division is in charge of planning and maintaining the City’s parks, playgrounds, sports fields, and other landscaping and performs a wide range of tasks in order to care for City parks and open spaces. Staff work throughout the year to refresh the appearance of parks repairing or replacing items as needed to keep public spaces clean and safe. THE POSITION: 

The Executive Administrative Assistant reports directly to the City Manager and/or their designee. This position performs a variety of administrative tasks in support of the Office of the City Manager, as well as the City Council.

DEFINITION
Under general supervision, perform a wide variety of confidential clerical and administrative assignments for the City Manager, Staff, and/or the City Council; to take and transcribe shorthand dictation, to do general typing and filing, and perform a variety of responsible clerical, stenographic, and administrative assignments, and to perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

The Senior Development Review Technician is the advanced journey level in the Development Review Technician series. Incumbents provide work coordination and training for other Development Review Technicians or consultants (as applicable), as well as perform the full range of technical building and planning support duties. They are required to possess thorough knowledge of the requirements, processes and procedures of the Planning and Building Department, and some working knowledge of Public Works is desirable. This position is distinguished from other classes within the series by the level of responsibility assumed, complexity of duties assigned, and independence of action taken. To perform responsible clerical work and administrative duties involved with billing and collection of business registrations; the maintenance and review of licensing and permitting records; the entry of data processing; and/or assisting in the review and input of building permit applications, cannabis permits, and mobile food vendor permits.  The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a temporary/part-time position to work in the Building Division of the Community Development Department.   

IDEAL CANDIDATE

The Ideal Candidate is customer focused, able to communicate well both orally and in writing, and can prioritize multiple tasks with little direction. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Prepare and process business registrations.  Collect payments over the counter and through the mail.  Balance cash drawer and reconcile end of day receipts.  Set-up and maintain customers on a computer system.  Prepare or assist in the preparation of a variety of statistical reports as assigned.  Input purchase requisitions into computer system.  Enter and verify invoices for payment. Respond to routine permitting inquiries and provide customer service to the public at the permit counter, and/or via telephone, email, or fax.  Research and communicate the status of permits for applicants.
