Silicon Valley Power (SVP) currently provides over 40 percent of Santa Clara’s electricity from carbon-free renewable resources. The Position: 

Silicon Valley Power (SVP) is seeking dynamic, engaging and qualified engineers for several vacant Electric Utility Engineer positions in various divisions. 

For SVP Operations Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with communication and electrical power engineering. This individual will assist with the programming of industrial multiplexer networks. The individual should have a strong interest in industrial high-speed data networking.

For SVP Engineering and CIP projects Division, this position will be assigned engineering work associated with electrical power engineering, substation design and Transmission and distribution systems. The individual may manage or will assist in managing Capital improvement Projects (CIP) to support growth of the electric utility. The candidates should have strong background and interest in electric systems. 

For System Planning and Asset Management Division, this position will be assigned to perform and maintain distribution system model, participate in integrated SVP system planning and other SVP groups to deliver distribution system results and reports, identify and implement projects that are necessary to support load growth and improve reliability of the distribution system. This position will work closely with customer/developers on their projects, will coordinate with various City departments and support SVP’s field and operation staff as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: 

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with: 
  a) Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering and two (2) years experience doing electric utility engineering work,

or

b) Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and three (3) years experience doing electric utility engineering work and experience using AutoCAD and Microsoft office (i.e. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Mathlab)
 

Acceptable Substitution: 

• A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or university may be substituted for one (1) year of experience

• An Engineer-in-Training Certification with ten (10) years of experience in electric utility engineering work can be substituted for the degree in engineering and the required experience indicated above

License/Certifications: 

Possession of an appropriate, valid Class C California driver's license is required at time of appointment and for the duration of employment.

Desirable Qualifications: 

• Registration as an Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineer in the State of California
• Experience using ESRI based Geographic Information System (GIS)
• Experience using system modeling and load flow software; Aspen one-liner software, GE PSLF, and DEW ISM

The City of Lincoln is hiring up to 6 part-time Assistant Pool Managers within the Recreation Department.  This position may require you to work various days, weekends or evenings.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

Under direction, assists in the overall operations of a swimming pool facility, and its assigned temporary employees; assists in the planning, organizing, coordination, development, implementation, promotion, and evaluation of aquatic activities and programs for all ages.

The Assistant Pool Manager is the working lead class responsible for assisting with the daily operations of the pool and aquatics program. This class is distinguished from the next higher classification of Pool Manager in that the latter has overall responsibility for the pool operations, programs, and staff.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Pool Manager. Exercises indirect supervision over temporary and seasonal aquatics personnel; may exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include but are not limited to the following:

• Assist in monitoring and supervision of the day-to-day operations of the aquatics program, which includes direction to lifeguards/instructors; enforce and explain pool regulations and policies; administer first aid and perform emergency rescues.
• Maintain proper health specifications, in restroom and locker areas and take all safety precautions.
• Manage the daily opening and closing of the facility.
• Assist in the oversight of proper sanitation and maintenance of pool water; ensure cleanliness of restrooms, dressing rooms, and public areas; report maintenance conditions affecting facility operation and security.
• Assist in the oversight of the safe and proper operations of assigned pool; ensure pool rules and safety guidelines are followed; maintain order with disruptive patrons and exercise crowd control where warranted; and refer escalated issues to assigned supervisor or proper authorities.
• Exercise lead/indirect supervision over all assigned staff including temporary and seasonal staff, independent contract instructors, and volunteers. Exercise direct supervision in the Pool Manager’s absence.
• Participate in the recruitment and hiring of temporary, part-time, or seasonal aquatics staff as required.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required; ensure the safety of pool users and enforce all user rules and policies of the department.
• Complete, review, and file accident and incident reports; assist with follow-up related to reports; purchase, check, and maintain first aid equipment; perform daily safety checks and inspections of the facility and all equipment.
• Assist with employee schedules; complete reports on chemical tests; assist with the training of lifeguards and other aquatics staff; verify and check aquatics staff timecards; submit timecards to Pool Manager for approval; coordinate and facilitate staff meetings; assist with special events.
• Work with maintenance staff to ensure that pool facility maintenance procedures are followed.
• Keep the pool, pool deck, and auxiliary buildings/areas clean and free of litter and debris.
• Act as the Pool Manager in her/his absence.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Position requires sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when reading correspondence, statistical data and using a computer. The need to lift, drag and push files, paper and equipment weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent may use cleaning chemicals, or pool chemicals, which may expose the employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. Additionally, the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold and is required to swim.

KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS
The following are a representative sample of the KSA’s necessary to perform essential duties of the position.

Knowledge of: Modern principles and practices of aquatics programs; facilities, operations, and techniques used in aquatics programs; routine swimming pool maintenance, chlorinators, heaters, and other equipment used in a pool facility; current techniques in swim lesson instruction; basic pool chemistry, including chemicals used to disinfect water and maintain proper PH in a public pool; practices and principles of first aid and CPR lifesaving safety measures at a public pool; health and safety codes applicable to the operation of a public pool; principles and practices of customer service; modern office equipment, methods, and procedures; computer hardware and software; proper English, spelling, and grammar.

Ability to: Supervise and instruct individuals and groups in various aquatic and related recreational activities; plan and lead the work of volunteers, seasonal/part-time staff; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; interpret community demand for aquatic programs; successfully resolve a variety of customer service related matters; respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner; administer first aid and CPR; work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.

San Juan Water District Seeks an Electrical Instrumentation Technician

The Electrical Instrumentation Technician is part of the Operations team, performing specialized and technical duties associated with the troubleshooting, maintenance, installation and repair of electrical gear, breakers, electronic equipment, and instrumentation controls associated with surface water treatment plant, pump stations, distributions system facilities, wholesale meters, and medium voltage solar site component. 

Duties Include: 

• Performing corrective and preventative maintenance on electrical switchgear, breakers, transformers, process control systems, flowmeters, transmitters, gauges and other instrumentation and control equipment.
• Performing skilled duties related to the troubleshooting, maintenance, repair, installation, and testing of instrumentation, Programmable Logic Controller’s (PLC’s), telemetry, electrical and electronic components and instruments used in treatment plants, distribution systems and solar fields. 
• Recognizing, identifying and correcting problems with control and instrumentation equipment.
• Planning, installing and maintaining sophisticated electrical, instrumentation, and control systems; developing and using diagnostic problem solving techniques.
• Inspecting, adjusting, installing, calibrating, and repairing electrical and electronic equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFD’s), breakers, transformers, motors, transducers, motor control centers, switches, wiring, electronic circuits, meter transmitters, (Cl2) sensors, and related devices.
• Installing, maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting control systems and water quality instruments, analyzers and electrical systems as they relate to water treatment, distribution, and solar systems.
• Working collaboratively with engineering to maintain and modify drawings of District’s Electrical Systems, PLC’s and SCADA systems.
• Assisting in new project design, inspection, installation, and troubleshooting of electrical 
• Systems, including but not limited to, submittals, RFIs, change orders, site layout and planning of specific drawings.

To be considered, candidates should be knowledgeable of principles and practices of electrical theory and electrical circuits, practices and techniques used in the design, installation, testing, calibration, maintenance and repair of radio telemetry, cellular communication, 4160V solar field, electrical and electronic equipment, instrumentation and controls as they relate to water treatment and distribution systems. 

The qualifications include:

• Graduation from high school or equivalent with additional supplementary course work in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, control systems, or equivalent material pertaining to the field of electronics AND
• Three years of journey level experience in the design, construction, installation, modification, maintenance, and repair of electrical/electronic equipment, instrument systems, and control devices common to an industrial facility, water treatment plant, and distribution systems. 
• Possession of a valid California motor vehicle operator's class C license.

The salary range is $55.81 - $66.97, depending on qualifications. In addition, the District offers competitive benefits which include District contribution to CalPERS retirement, medical (100% of premium for most offered plans), dental and vision for employee and dependents; District paid life insurance; 12 paid days of sick leave; 12 paid holidays; and paid vacation depending on length of service. In addition, the District provides retiree health benefits with 50% of the premium paid with 10 years of service and an additional 5% with each year of service up to 100% with 20 years of service in CalPERS participating agencies.

Public Safety Records Specialist I

• Possession of an appropriate, valid Class C California driver's license is required at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment. 
• A certificate of completion of energy auditing, energy management, resource conservation, or communications courses is desirable.

Desirable Qualifications:

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree and major course work in engineering, environmental studies, business administration, public administration, communications, or a closely related field is desirable.

Other Requirements: 

• May be expected to work evenings and weekends as required.
• Must be able to perform all of the essential functions of the job assignment.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, move large appliances short distances, and climb ladders to inspect attic spaces for certain programs.
• Must be computer literate and tested for computer literacy.
