Housing Specialist I, Term-Limited

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking a term-limited Housing Specialist I to join the Housing Division in the Community Development Department. The term-limited Housing Specialist I will focus on the planning and implementation of unhoused services and programs. Under direction of the Housing Officer, Homeless Services Manager, or the Affordable Housing Manager, the term-limited Housing Specialist I will play a key role in the planning and development of new affordable housing, creating new housing programs and unhoused services and programs, implementing the Housing Element, applying for grants/funding to support affordable housing, and monitoring housing legislation. The term-limited Housing Specialist I will perform technical and professional level planning and community development work, with an emphasis on creation and implementation of programs that serve people experiencing homelessness and/or affordable housing programs. This position will closely collaborate with affordable housing developers, various housing advocacy groups, local non-profits, and the community. The ideal candidate will be a passionate affordable housing professional who is a motivated self-starter able to work independently, while also being a team player who can communicate effectively with supervisors, colleagues, consultants, and decision-makers. Creativity, critical thinking, public speaking, and the ability to perform research and analyses are essential traits.

SENIOR APPLICATIONS ANALYST

The City of Sunnyvale is seeking two Senior Applications Analysts in the Information Technology Department. These positions are intended for support and enhancements of our Oracle Cloud ERP & HCM applications. In addition the positions will assume primary and secondary support roles for multiple enterprise systems including system configuration, reporting and interfaces, day-to-day operational issues, break/fix, configuration, maintenance, upgrades, and on-call rotations.

The ideal candidate will have experience with supporting HCM or Financial systems, preferably an integrated ERP/HCM system, ideally Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.  Our Oracle Cloud ERP modules include General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Procure to Pay, Inventory Management, Accounts Receivable and Project Portfolio Management, and HCM includes Core HR, Benefits, Absence, Time and Labor and Payroll; the position will provide a strong techno-functional foundation to other team members.  The candidate we seek will be detail-oriented, able to create and edit documentation, and understand technical complexities involved in functional configuration, integration, interface, and report development with the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with end users.

Work Schedule: The position is eligible for Telework, up to 2 days per week, after a 6-month mandatory onsite work schedule.  The Telework schedule is subject to approval from the department head as permitted by City policy and practice.

About the Position:  The Farm Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and construction tasks at Deer Hollow Farm in the Rancho San Antonio Open Space Preserve and reports to the Maintenance Supervisor. Deer Hollow Farm is an educational, working farm with cows, pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, and other livestock.  Duties include performing maintenance and construction tasks using hand and power tools, operating and maintaining Farm vehicles, and assisting with daily Farm operations. The Farm Maintenance Worker will also assist with basic support and care of animals; greet visitors and provide information to the public; and work with volunteers on farm-related projects. DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED

Receives direction from the Economic Development and Communications Specialist. May exercise technical and functional supervision over administrative support personnel.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (include but are not limited to the following)

• Prepares responses, proposals and presentations for Requests for Information and provides responsible, professional analytical assistance in the development, administration and implementation of economic development programs.
• Develops short- and long-range economic development plans; gathers, interprets and prepares data for studies, reports, and recommendations.
• Coordinates and participates in the review of City projects, project plans, and discussions.
• Helps maintain a comprehensive inventory of available buildings and sites in the community for economic development purposes and distributes to perspective economic development clientele as requested.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS

Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position also requires grasping, repetitive hand movement and fine coordination in preparing reports using a computer keyboard. Additionally, the position requires near and far vision in reading written reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and personal service. Additionally, the incumbent in this position may work in all weather conditions including wet, hot and cold. About the Position: Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District (Midpen) is seeking a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Intern in the Information Systems and Technology (IST) Department. The GIS Intern will perform GIS mapping and analysis tasks in support of land acquisition, open space planning, capital improvement, and resource management activities. Responsibilities include creating maps for District Board reports and presentations; compiling and synthesizing geographic data; developing attribute data for feature classes; performing basic geoprocessing; maintaining and updating GIS databases as new data are collected; preparing, modifying and updating District site maps and brochures; providing graphic support for other departments including the development of maps, charts, displays, presentations, graphics, brochures, and drawings; and collecting field data. Basic Requirements: Internships are open to applications from current students or recent graduates (within the last 12 months). Current enrollment in an associate’s, bachelor’s, or master’s degree program, or trade school in a relevant field. Successful candidates will have a background in geography, planning, environmental studies, landscape architecture, or another related field; demonstrated experience with ArcGIS software; and demonstrated expertise/enthusiasm in cartography and map production. This position requires great attention to detail, excellent communication and critical thinking skills, the ability to work well both in a team setting and independently, the desire to learn, and the willingness to occasionally work in rugged, remote settings. Knowledge of web GIS and experience with field data collection are a plus. Working Conditions/Schedule: This position is based primarily in-office at our Administrative Office in Los Altos, CA, as part of the IST department. While the majority of work will be performed in an office setting, there may be occasional instances of field data collection. These field activities are infrequent but may involve travel in a district vehicle and, at times, working independently in varied outdoor conditions, including remote and rugged terrain with numerous biotic and abiotic hazards during inclement weather. This is a temporary position working 24 – 32 hours per week (within regular business days/hours). Regular business is conducted Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.  Interns may work up to a total of 950 hours over a 7-to-9-month period. About the Position: The Land Stewardship & Trails Department is Midpen’s largest department with over 70 employees during construction season. As such, this position requires constant communication and alignment with team members and stakeholders.  This position reports to the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager and has direct supervision over one Administrative Assistant. This position plays a key role in supporting the Land Stewardship & Trails Manager with strategic initiatives and day-to-day operations.  The ideal candidate has solid public sector finance, budget, purchasing, project tracking, and asset management experience; possesses excellent judgment, curiosity, and proactive problem solving and time management skills; and can successfully manage many priorities at once while accomplishing professional-level administrative and program work. Work Environment: This full-time position is part of the Land Stewardship & Trails Department at Midpen’s Administrative Office in Los Altos, California. Midpen offers a hybrid office/telecommute work schedule for this position following successful onboarding. A minimum of three days on-site in the office is required per week. This is primarily a sedentary office classification.  Must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 25 pounds. Some fieldwork may be required, which involves the ability to walk for short distances over rough terrain, drive vehicles over unimproved roads, and stand for extended periods.

Education and Experience:

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying.  A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business administration, public administration, or a related field and three (3) years of professional analytical experience equivalent to a Management Analyst I at the District. Public sector experience is preferred and previous supervisory experience is desirable.

Licenses & Certifications Required:   Possession of a valid California Driver’s License.
