PROGRAM LEADER (Youth Services/Kids’ Night Out/Kids Day Out Programs)

Salary Range: $17.37 to $23.15/hour (DOE)

 

Part-time temporary, non-benefitted position; 10 hours per month in Kids’ Night Out Program and Bi-monthly Friday night availability (6-11 pm) required. Additional shifts are available on San Ramon Unified School District days off school, during recreation pop ups, and special events. (not-to-exceed 950 hours per fiscal year)

 

GENERAL DUTIES

Under the general supervision of the Youth Program Coordinator, Youth Services staff is responsible for supervision and safety within the bi-monthly Kids’ Night Out and Kids Day Out Program, including implementing a variety of crafts, games and activities for youth ages 5 to 11.  As a Youth Services staff member, you will:

• Gain experience leading arts, crafts, games, and activities;
• Serve as a mentor and role model to youth;
• Learn to work as part of a team and lead activities;
• Acquire skills to safely and appropriately supervise youth in a staff-to-youth ratio environment.
• Assist with recreation pop ups and special events
• Other duties as assigned

 

Specific to Youth Services:

• Plan and execute duties related to special interest classes, school-year and seasonal programs, and special events.
• Serve as a role model and advocate for youth.
• Effectively facilitate and/or lead small and large groups of youth.
• Communicate effectively with youth and their parents.

POLICE ASSISTANT

Salary Range: $20.84 to $32.41/hour; non-benefitted position, DOE

 

DEFINITION

The Police Assistant is a civilian, non-sworn, uniformed position that is responsible for a variety of customer service-based interactions with the community. Duties include non-hazardous enforcement of municipal parking laws and regulations as well as clerical front counter tasks related to phone and walk-in contacts at the police department.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED

Receives general supervision from the Lieutenant and Traffic Sergeant. Projects are assigned, and the person usually works with very little supervision. 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES

• Handle confidential administrative duties at the front desk. Greets telephone callers and visitors to department; screens and handles inquiries of a general or specific nature; takes messages.
• Takes information from the public regarding thefts, accidents, lost and found property, and other incidents that do not require the presence of a sworn law enforcement officer at the scene; completes standard police reports for review by staff supervisors or sworn supervisory staff.

• Perform a variety of research & staff work; prepare reports.
• Maintain records using computers and various filing systems.
• Coordinate Parking Permits for business employees.
• Enforces parking ordinances and the Town’s Abandoned Vehicle Abatement Program, issues parking citations; follows-up on complaints regarding abandoned or illegally parked vehicles; issues citations and arranges for the towing or other abatement measures. Receive and respond to complaints and reports of routine parking incidents from the public.
• Respond to public complaint of abandoned vehicles; document and schedule tows for abandoned vehicles; and ensures proper disposition of illegally parked vehicles; patrols city streets and issues citations on vehicles parked in an unlawful manner. Mark vehicles to detect abuse of timed areas.
• Operate computer equipment and two-way radio as related to employment.
• Directs traffic at crash, crime, and/or congestion scenes.
• Investigates and prepares reports on burglary, petty theft, lost and found property, missing persons, property damage, accidents, Town Ordinance violations, abandoned vehicles and other incidents.
• Assists with maintaining evidence and property in the Evidence Room. Coordinates receiving and cataloging evidence and found property, maintaining records of property movement, processing, and disposition.
• Assist with transporting, storing, photographing, releasing, or destroying property pursuant to state law and established procedures.
• As required testifies in court.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
• Perform duties within OSHA standards.
• Must be flexible with hours and available to work some evenings and occasional weekends.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge: 

Microsoft Office: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

 

Ability to:     

Effectively communicate verbally and through written correspondence; understand and follow verbal and written instructions, prepare clear and accurate reports, work cooperatively with others contacted in the course of work, handle multiple work requests under pressure, read and interpret maps, type at a speed of no less than 40WPM and have excellent customer service skills. Operation of radio communication equipment is required. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and stand outdoors for extended periods while performing traffic control assignments. Required to wear safety equipment, including a vest, belt, and uniform.

 

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Experience: 

One (1) year of full-time (or the equivalent of full-time) experience involving substantial public contact, or the exchange of detailed verbal information, including interpreting/clarifying rules, regulations, policies, or procedures and handling complaints as a primary element of the work performed. Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.

 

Education:   

High school graduation or equivalent.

 

 

Licenses:      

California Driver's License, C.L.E.T.S. certification upon hire.

Operate telephone and radio equipment.  Assist in crime scene identification activities.  Assist in collection, preservation and transportation of evidence.  Maintain accurate chain of custody records.  Inventory and release of evidence and property.  Prepare property for auction.  Purge of files.  Perform Parking Enforcement function.  Report damaged or inoperative traffic signals, signs and markings. Advise the general public on parking laws, regulations and ordinances. Receive complaints regarding parking citations.  Mark vehicles reported as abandoned and conduct follow-up, including towing and storing of vehicle.  Keep records and prepare reports.  Enforce non-moving vehicle code violations and city ordinances pertaining to vehicles.  Perform general clerical duties using typewriter and word processing. Receive calls and take messages. Prepare monthly statistical reports. Retrieve and input data into computer terminal. Prepare correspondence to victims of crime. Provide clerical assistance to detectives. Process reports assigned to detectives. Process court ordered registrants.  Collect pertinent data from police reports and input data into computer.  Make presentations in small and large group settings.  Assist in producing monthly, quarterly and yearly crime statistics reports.  Assist in analyzing statistical data to develop crime patterns. Publish understandable crime information for law enforcement staff.  Coordinate facility maintenance activities and repairs.  Develop and maintain facility tracking systems.  Issue required equipment to both sworn and non-sworn personnel.  Order new and replacement equipment as needed.  Regular and consistent attendance.

 

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

Administer first aid in emergencies. Work off-duty hours as assigned. Assist in training of less experienced personnel.  Perform related duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:  High School diploma or equivalent.  Additional college course work or vocational training is highly desirable.

 

Experience:  Two (2) years of general administrative office work experience or one year of administrative office work in a law enforcement agency. Prefer experience with substantial public interaction.

 

License or Certificate:  Required upon hire, possession of a valid California driver's license.

The City of Dixon is excited to announce the recruitment for an Interim Public Works Director (Retired Annuitant) for a duration of 6-12 months. This interim appointment is a great opportunity for highly motivated individuals ready to expand and refine their Public Works career.

The Interim Public Works Director will play a critical leadership role during a period of elevated development activity and organizational transition. This position requires a hands-on leader who can maintain momentum on existing initiatives while advancing new priorities across Public Works, Engineering, and land development functions.

This is an exempt, at-will senior management position directly responsible to the City Manager.
