We are now hiring up to 35 part-time Lifeguards for our aquatics program!

Located at the McBean Memorial Pool, our Lifeguards are an essential part of the aquatics recreational programs that we offer our residents.  Be a part of a team that allows everyone to beat the heat and have fun!

We are looking for candidates with qualities such as reliability, creativity, dependability and enthusiasm.  The aquatics program will require you to work various days, weekends or evenings, but we are flexible with schedules.

Seasonal employees are limited to working no more than 999 hours in a fiscal year.

DEFINITION:

Under the direct or general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, performs a variety of duties to supervise the pool, decks, and additional areas of an aquatic facility.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following)

• Maintain constant surveillance as assigned to safeguard swimmers from drowning and other accidents.
• Maintain discipline and orderly conduct among patrons and enforce all pertinent City pool rules and regulations in order to maintain a safe environment.
• Promote and enforce water safety procedures; effect swimming rescues; render first aid and CPR as required.
• Assist in the planning, promoting and organizing of prescribed Red Cross programs and special events.
• Perform pool facility maintenance functions as required.
• Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
• Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date records and reports.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

Perform heavy manual labor; learn to operate a variety of equipment; work with tools related to recreational maintenance. The position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties. The incumbent needs to have the ability to hear and speak for purposes of communication. The position also requires both near and far vision when administering programs and operating equipment. The need to lift, carry and push equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. The incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions, including wet, hot, and cold.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: (The following are a representative sample of the KSAs necessary to perform essential duties of the position.)

Knowledge of:

Principles and practices of water safety and swimming rescue techniques; proper stroke mechanics; principles and techniques of CPR and first aid; practices and methods of public relations and customer service; and techniques and principles of effective interpersonal communication.

Skills to:

Receive direction and follow oral and written instructions; be reliable, dependable, creative, and enthusiastic; and develop effective working relationships with fellow city employees, children, and parents.

Ability to:

On a continuous basis, know and understand operations and observe safety rules; walk; swim with proficiency and endurance; render life saving measures; interpret policies and procedures, and explain operations and problem solve issues for the public and with staff; intermittently set up equipment, move and carry supplies and equipment; lift or carry weight of 45 pounds or less; prevent accidents and conduct effective rescues; understand and translate City policies and practices into everyday working practices; make sound decisions and solid problem-solving methods; respond to emergency situations in a calm and effective manner; administer first aid and CPR; prepare reports, course records, and lesson plans; maintain accurate and up-to-date records; work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions; understand and carry out written and oral directions; communicate tactfully with customers; communicate effectively and concisely, both orally and in writing; promote and enforce safety procedures including proper use of equipment; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

SRFECC is preparing for a Dispatcher Academy, beginning February 2026! As a Dispatcher I, you will be a key player in the public safety network, managing both emergency and non-emergency calls. Your role involves receiving critical information, dispatching appropriate Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) resources, providing live-saving instructions, relaying facts, and ensuring effective communication throughout the incident. This is an entry-level position ideal for individuals with no prior public safety dispatching experience. Advancement to Dispatcher II is expected within two years, and offers greater responsibility and higher pay.

This position requires the ability to work well under pressure, demonstrate exceptional communication skills, and think quickly during emergency situations. Shift work is required, and you must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities:
Dispatch Operations:

• Operate a Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) console with a multi-line telephone system, radio console, and office computer terminal.
• Answer incoming calls and gather necessary information to evaluate the nature and urgency of the situation, and triage the call appropriately.
• Following applicable policies, procedures, and guidelines, dispatch appropriate Fire and EMS units, ensuring a prompt and accurate response.
• Keep track of the location and status of fire apparatus, units, and investigators, updating as needed.

Communication and Coordination:

• Transmit critical messages to Fire/EMS units responding to emergencies.
• Provide emergency medical self-help instructions to citizens while EMS units are en route.
• Coordinate with external agencies, such as utility companies, water services, and law enforcement agencies, as needed.

Support and Documentation:

• Answer general inquiries or refer calls to the appropriate department for non-emergency concerns.
• Complete department forms, maintain accurate logs, and ensure compliance with procedures.
• Participate in regular training, drills, and public education programs.

Customer Service and Continuous Improvement:

• Demonstrate continuous effort to improve the application of operations and work processes, ensuring high-quality customer service.
• Collaborate effectively with colleagues, responders, and other departments to provide seamless service.

TOWN MANAGER - TOWN OF LOOMIS

The Town Council of the Town of Loomis, California (population 6,800) is seeking an energetic and engaging individual with a commitment to public service to become its new Town Manager. The Town Manager directs, coordinates, and manages the overall administrative   activities and operations of the Town and advises and assists the Town Council while exercising significant independent judgment and initiative. In this smaller-sized entity, the Town Manager will need to be comfortable with a hands-on and collaborative approach to day-to-day  management. This will include providing strong leadership and frequent interaction with the small team (Finance, Community Development, Engineering and Public Works), fostering a    collaborative, open dialogue, and teamwork. The Town Council also seeks a Town Manager who enjoys working in the public sector and appreciates the variety and diversity of contributions from all sources within the organization, as well as from this active and engaged community.

This position requires a Bachelor's degree and progressively responsible experience in an administrative, managerial, or senior level staff capacity in a comparable organization with  similar issues. An advanced degree may be a plus based on overall career experience.
