The Belmont Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting for part-time Building Attendants. Building Attendants provide operational supervision of facilities during the absence of full-time staff.

Building Attendant I - This is the entry level class in the Building Attendant series.  Incumbents in this class work under close supervision.  As experience is gained, incumbents may be granted more independence of action under established guidelines.

Building Attendant II - This is the journey level class in the Building Attendant series. Incumbents are expected to work independently in the absence of close supervision.

We are seeking responsible, reliable and enthusiastic individuals to manage and oversee for Adult Sports Leagues. This position will be responsible for staffing and managing all Adult Sport games on a field or in a gym, including scorekeepers and communication with the sport official’s association, and managing the adult sports scheduling and score reporting online. This is a part time, nonbenefited position, up to 30 hours per week and limited to 960 hours in a fiscal year (July-June). You must be available to work Monday-Friday during the hours of 4:30pm-10:15pm and occasional weekends. This position is year-round.

What You’ll Do

• Ensures all game related information are uploaded to website in a timely manner for each game
• Keeps games moving, maintains game rules and manages game conflicts
• Ensures use of sport program supplies follows the amount prearranged by the department budget
• Oversees and managers Adult Sport League games and is present before and after designated scheduled game times
• Assists in tracking payroll for all per diem workers
• If necessary, will cover shifts for scorekeeping or gym attendant when no subs are available
• Back up to the field preparation position
• Manage the gym schedule, staffing and be a back up to rental officers, if necessary
• Takes game photos of all Sport League games
• Provide excellent customer service.

Under general direction, performs responsible professional level engineering and administrative work in connection with a wide variety of engineering projects. May lead professional and paraprofessional engineering personnel engaged in the planning, design, and construction phases of engineering projects. Assist Directing Civil Engineer in training and providing guidance to Junior through Associate Engineer classifications and Inspector classifications. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field Five years' progressively responsible experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, contract preparation, related phases of engineering and inspection of construction projects. Experience as a lead engineer desirable. Required Licenses and/or Certification: Registration (P.E. license) as a Civil Engineer in the state of California. Must have a PE license as a Civil Engineer for at least 5 years. Must possess and maintain a current and satisfactory driving record. No reckless driving and DUI within the last 7 years. No more than 2 moving violations within the last 3 years. Operates District vehicles on a regular basis. Physical Requirements: Must inspect construction work on the Golden Gate Bridge, other structures and buildings, climb scaffolds, catwalks and ladders. Work from heights.  DEFINITION

Under supervision, performs sub-professional engineering office work related to Public Works improvements; elementary field surveying; computer-aided drafting and design work; and related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs a wide variety of responsible sub-professional engineering work; computes and posts simple engineering data; computer-aided drafting, design, and mapping; revises, reviews, files, and updates engineering plans and maps; assists field survey and traffic survey crews as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of: The elementary principles of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry; drafting symbols used in construction work; basic engineering office equipment; modern personal computers and related computer software; principles and practical application of computer-aided drafting, design, and mapping systems.

Ability to: Learn the use of surveying equipment and techniques; learn basic construction inspection procedures; accurately make and verify mathematical computations; perform neat and accurate drafting; collect engineering field data, and make field notes; maintain accurate records; effectively operate computer-aided drafting, design and mapping software; effectively use modern office software; understand and carry out oral and written instructions; work flexible hours; deal effectively and courteously with the public and general contractors; attend work and perform duties as assigned.

Education: Completion of 45 semester college units with major in civil engineering or related course of study.

License: Possession of valid Class C California Driver's License.
