Instruct children and adults (primarily 5-12 years of age) in beginning to intermediate sports camps or programs, such as Badminton, Basketball, Baseball, Cricket, Football, Softball, Soccer, Tennis, etc. Class content should provide basic and/or more advanced game mechanics, strategies, and the rules of sports, depending on the student level of skill. Class must emphasize the importance of good sportsmanship and team play. The goal is to have fun and develop a skill.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES (This is a general description of duties and is not all-inclusive)

• Prepare area for specific sport (i.e. setup gym or sports field, assure all equipment is available, etc.)
• Teach all necessary aspects of sports
• Keep score of games, if applicable
• Maintain rosters and City forms
• Implement lesson plans to be provided by the City
• Enforce City policies and procedures
• Provide encouragement to participants and provide a positive atmosphere for play
• Participate in promotional opportunities, staff training and meetings when required
• Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Must be at least 15 years of age
• Must have basic knowledge or background in basketball

• Must be able to tactfully communicate with children and deliver feedback to parents
• Must be able to establish and maintain productive working relationships with staff, management, and clients

The Position:
This is complex clerical work involved in central District processes related to the procurement of goods and services, including selection of vendors, volume buying, implementation of bid procedures, scheduling and coordinating deliveries, inventory, assessing availability and quality of goods and services, administering under direction district-wide procurement related tools, such as procurement and gasoline cards, creation of purchase orders, creating and archiving documentation, and assisting the Senior Buyer as needed. Under general direction, the employee provides technical buyer information and facilitates purchasing of both goods and services to all District units. Public contact is extensive, primarily involving District and College staff at all levels and outside vendors for the purpose of exchanging product, procedural, timeline and workflow information. Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

EXCITING OPPORTUNITY! The Police Communications Center is a fast-paced environment serving first responders and the community during emergency and non-emergency events. Communications Officers interact daily with the public and law enforcement personnel through phone calls, 9-1-1 events, in person and over the police radio system. We are looking for highly skilled professionals who can multi-task and react calmly during emergency situations, while making quick decisions and determining the nature and severity of service calls. ABOUT THE POSITION

Under general supervision, the Communications Officer, as a member of the Police Department, transmits and receives information over the police and public works radio system; dispatches routine and emergency calls for service; types, records, and files information; handles emergency and non-emergency telephone calls utilizing complex technical aids, such as computer aided dispatch systems (CAD), and performs related work as assigned.

Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Receives emergency and non-emergency telephone calls from the public for police, fire, or other emergency services; determines the nature of the call and the resources necessary to respond.
• Monitors police radio communications; maintains contact with police units to track officer status and respond to need for additional resources; monitors various radio channels to keep abreast of county-wide police activities affecting the City and assist other county agencies with mutual aid.
• Prioritizes requests for police and other public safety services; determines availability and location of patrol units; transmits information and dispatches police personnel and equipment in response to calls; routes calls for fire and emergency medical assistance to the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
• Assists police personnel in the field by quickly and accurately researching and relaying criminal history information and other requested data.
• Receives and coordinates requests for emergency Public Works assistance outside of the City’s normal business hours (pertaining to full municipal services in Los Altos, and sewer maintenance requests in Los Altos Hills and the surrounding unincorporated areas).

Certificates:

The Position:
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Payroll Manager performs professional supervisory work involved with managing and directing computerized payroll production for the District. The Payroll Manager develops, implements, and monitors procedures to ensure integrity of the payroll systems and to comply with applicable federal, state and local laws, regulations, and guidelines. Public contact is extensive and involves staff at various levels within the organization, local government agencies, and other outside entities for the purpose of exchanging technical accounting procedural and policy information. Duties and Responsibilities:

3. Reviews payroll control reports and approves payroll transmissions
4. Hires, trains, supervises, and evaluates assigned staff and provides feedback, training, and developmental support as needed
5. Establishes and monitors timelines and prioritizes work
6. Supervises the maintenance of District payroll records and reports as required by federal, state, local, and District policy, including meeting STRS and PERS requirements
7. Compiles information and calculations for W-2 reporting
8. Sorts and distributes W-2 forms at year-end and answers questions regarding accessing electronic W-2 forms
9. Oversees W-2 corrections and the preparation of W-2c and W-3c documents
10. Monitors and audits the accuracy and integrity of all payrolls, benefit health cost premiums, mandated benefit costs and balances the general ledger

17. Recommends payroll system enhancements/modifications to comply with laws, regulations, tax requirements, reporting procedures, accounting policies, labor union agreements, and organizational needs
18. Confers with Human Resources, ITS staff, and external agencies, including auditors, state retirement agencies, health benefit agencies, consultants, and federal and state agencies

MAINTENANCE ASSISTANT I

This is a temporary part-time position:  Approximately 20-40 hours per week depending on the needs of the department.

Salary:             $19.71 – $22.50 hourly (depending on experience)

THE POSITION: Under close supervision, perform unskilled manual and semi-skilled manual park maintenance work, and perform related work as required.

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

• Cleaning restrooms, emptying garbage cans
• Removing weeds and trash from parks
• Assist in mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, and seeding
• Perform a wide variety of general grounds and facility maintenance work including raking leaves, cleaning walkways, removing debris, cleaning restrooms, and related work.
• Water, weed, prune, renovate, and landscaped areas.
• Turf care including mowing, thatching, fertilizing, plugging, and installation of new turf areas.
• Prepare soil and plant flowerbeds, shrubs, and landscape areas, including staking, fertilizing and other necessary procedures.
• Utilize a wide variety of hand and power tools and landscape maintenance equipment.
• Move and install park and recreation equipment.
• Assist in loading, transporting, and unloading equipment, materials, debris, and other heavy objects related to maintenance.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The incumbent should have the ability to read, write, and carry out oral and written directions, maintain cooperative work relationships, and operate various park maintenance equipment. Individuals must possess a valid California Driver’s License and a good driving record (recent DMV printout required). This is seasonal work which will include weekends and holidays depending on the needs of the department.

Covid-19 Vaccination Requirement:

In order to promote a safe and healthy workplace for employees and members of the public who interact with employees or visit City of San Mateo worksites and facilities, the City requires all new hires to be fully vaccinated prior to their start date as a condition of employment. This vaccination requirement applies to all merits, per diems, retired annuitants, student assistants, interns and re-hires appointed by the City after January 10, 2022.
