What's the Role and What You'll Do
We are looking for a driven and detailed professional to take on the role of Accounting Technician. You will join a fast-paced, dynamic team environment, processing the City’s utility billing and other revenue streams and assisting in accounting matters within the Revenue Division of the Finance and Administrative Services Department. This position receives direction from the Revenue Manager and Financial Analyst, may exercise technical and functional supervision over lower-level accounting clerical positions, and may act as a lead over a designated work unit. What You’ll Do
- Process utility bills for residents and businesses in the City.
- Work with other departments and the City’s waste management service to accurately set up complex utility accounts and process utility bill adjustments.
- Interact with and assist customers to set up, adjust, and/or close their utility accounts and provide general customer service support.
- Reconcile revenue and financial accounting systems, interfacing transactional data between them.
- Create invoices for various departments to collect fees and other sources of revenue.
- Review, reconcile, and record daily revenue transactions.
- Assist with various month-end and year-end accounting tasks specific to the Revenue section.
The Essentials
- Three (3) years of increasingly responsible accounting clerical experience.
- Education equivalent to an associate of arts degree in accounting or a related field. Additional experience may be substituted for some of the required education on a year-to-year basis.
Highly desirable
- Utility billing and miscellaneous revenue collection and/or customer service experience.
- Experience with financial and/or utility billing software.
- Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.

Salary RangeThe salary range as advertised is reflective of the salary range for this position beginning 07/01/2025, after the 3% 2025-26 cost of living increase is applied.
